Chris Judd's chicken winging of Leigh Adams
monoccular replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes he did. I do seem to remember some weak platitude from Judd's guardian angel, Saint Andrew of Macedonia, to the effect that it was purely accidental, or maybe his disciple Jeff G late of Punt Road, (not that the same argument would help too many others get off similar of fences.) -
You cant trade out or delist all the players who aren't going to play in your next Premiership - that is an absolutely ludicrous suggestion.
-
Wouldn't Gysberts be well ahead of Jetta in terms of match fitness? And doesn't Fitzy offer more options than Big Jake as a ruck / forward, especially with Martin standing up to standing in as principle ruckman? I havent seen enough of either to make a judgement, so any who have, what's your call?

FCS, one preseason cannt make up for years of neglect. If they tire as easily this time next season yes maybe question Missen, but not now.

Chris Judd's chicken winging of Leigh Adams

"He couldn't get near his eyes so this was the next best thing" -
Yeah -- all the best. Is his contract up this year? Some have had him as a delist, and this surely can't help his cause.

Chris Judd's chicken winging of Leigh Adams

Expect this statement from Andrew DubmItriou: "The incident was clearly seen by the adjudicating umpire who quite rightly awarded player Judd a free kick for a cowardly and unprovoked attack by Kangaroos players. There is nothing in the video to suggest that Judd was doing anything untoward, but was merely attempting to assist an opponent to his feet. The MRP will however closely scrutinise the actions of several Kangaroos players for their attack on Judd." -
chaff, actually. But very well constructed response.

I was about to ask the same question? Is he someone of any relevance to footy, or even life in general?
-
I have no idea of the relevance of the upcoming Olympics, or any past Olympics, Tour de Steroids France or Soccer World Corruption Cup, Wimbledon etc for that matter, to any AFL players. It sounds as if you are suggesting that say Judd or Pendelbery are duds because they don't run as fast as the last qualifier for the Olympics! Pickles has shown a lot of pace and dash, by AFL yardsticks, in his limited appearances.

Magner doesn't seem to be in the magoos - "general soreness" = a well earned rest. He will be back. May well have been leading the B&F after his first handful of games. Another preseason will work wonders for him.
-
Your last point - unfortunately these days we very rarely play against lesser opposition, and that is our biggest problem.A kind of circular argument, though -- we would all I am sure relish the day that we play against "lesser opposition" every week, because that makes us the best!

Garland growing in 'statue' - MFC website
monoccular replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
He is listed as only 191 cm and 90 kgm, but he plays as a defender a lot taller then this. But a ruckman needs to train as a ruckman, and Colin hasn't. Easy to get injured doing ruck work without preparation. Could be regarded as a statue for the opposition to jump off.Sure he may take the occasional hitout around the ground - I even remember James McDonald being credited with a few hitouts! I hope that this was a tongue-in-cheek comment on your part. -
Putting up with frustration comes with being a dedicated Dee!

OK - I will take the bait, and the hook if you like.Geez....the VFL need to get their act together, and either add one or drop one team as of next year. So many byes is absolute rubbish. They are a joke as a back-up to a professional AFL competition in their current setup. PS: Really great to see Williams back on his feet and playing a few games.
-
Maybe, maybe not - but what is the relevance to this thread?Or maybe this was just a random comment. But, back to this thread - well done and I am sure that at least most of us here wish you well. IMO Magner doesn't need a game at Casey, he needs a week off - ?general soreness? On the other hand, Moloney does need to play a few games at the lower level and if he regains form then come back....if not, ???? EDIT: PS I may be blind but I can't see Magnet's name in the Casey list - presumably then he is "being rested" which is very sensible.

And I guess if you catch Jack even giving a fleeting smirk at anything watching from the stands that will just prove the point??!!?? I think that they are doing their best but are very severely handicapped by - cumulative lack of up-to-date required levels of fitness for years if not decades; - perhaps contributed to by the mental hangovers from previous "tanking" years; - an absolutely horror run of injuries this season, All this leaves morale at an (at least recent) all time low.
-
Bleedin hell - more injuries!!!! Davey I guess no surprise but Watts!! WTH. It is interesting that both Moloney and Magner were dropped the same week; with Couch the only true mid replacing them. Maybe Petterd will be given a last chance to show his worth with some time in the midfield - he had really better take this chance with both hands. Go Ricky, show us your stuff.
-
I guess it doesn't really matter at this stage of this nightmare season, but WTH is going on? Some have suggested that it may be "overtraining" but most of the injuries have been out of the blue. I guess it will all give opportunities four others but what a revolting run of injuries we have had.
-
well said Trident.Though they do prop up the "lesser clubs" financially.

Nathan Jones is surely a prime example of the fact that poor kicks can become very good kicks with time and with hard work. (Todd Viney similarly improved greatly in the latter part of his career after being frankly awful early on.) I used to despair that he would ever get it right. Well done Nathan. It is surely a matter of priorities -- the match committee or whoever decides these things need to put a higher weighting on this skill and allocate more time at training sessions to getting this right.
-
And apart from all the above, how could we be sure of getting him to come back to Melbourne, even if he (and we) still wanted to, after 2 years?
-
What it may do is say to the "survivors" : YOU are the ones who we beleive can take us to the top - if you were not you wouldn't still be here"! So as I see it it could work psychologically quite the opposite way to which you do. But who knows how a footballer's brain sees things?
