Wow........another "cull the list" thread. Maybe take a moment to look through the recents and just add to one of the many on the same topic. This board is becoming very repetitive. I don't think that there is an award for starting the most new threads on topics already extensively covered!

But we picked Cale ahead of him :-(((((((
-
Then you obviously didn't see his first three games, before his run of injuries. Pity - you missed something exciting.

All aspects of VFL scheduling are baffling!!
-
er....maybe just not good enough. We have all had them over the years. Flash in the pan - Darren Cuthbertson springs to mind for one. Actually touted by Sheedy (before he became senile) as AA FF.
-
But maybe only until the proposed - haven't heard much for a very long time - second boutique stadium in North Docklands comes into play. When / if that happens it would be logical to play MFC reserves - if and when that happens too - there.
-
I think one of the main beefs about this whole argument is exactly that we do NOT play our extras / leftovers / recoverers every week, due to the structure of the VFL competition and all those bloody byes!!!!!!!!!

How long is Casey's history anyway - didn't it in turn swallow up Springvale VFA??

I thought exactly the same.....since when has Brock been known as turtle? I can see why though.

Liam Jurrah - committal hearing in Alice Springs
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I suspect that the prosecutor feels he has an opportunity to cut down a tall poppy, and wont let go.The 'evidence' presented at least via the press at the committal sounded very garbled and inconsistent, and one would have to wonder how a magistrate could see any likelihood of a prosecution succeeding. I had always thought that that was the criterion - not a determination if guilt but at least a reasonable case, with some credible evidence and / or witnesses. Lawyers please elaborate. ?? -

Surely if the trial evidence presented is the same as at the committal, there just has to be "reasonable doubt". The only witnesses who presented against Liam seemed pretty unreliable and were known to hold a grudge against Liam's wing of the family. Still, it is up to a jury. Sadly I don't think he whole sorry story will do any good for his community in any sense, nor enhance the chances of any young fellas from there being drafted. -
Cloke and Collingwood - to part or not to part?
monoccular replied to Satan's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am still unsure if he is worth the amount, and more so the length, being discussed, but even if he eventually stays, or gets bribed to go elsewhere by fifty pieces of cardboard as a side deal, if this manages to destabilize Collingwood - like the Neeld deal did last year - then it is all worth while -

kretinburger So traditional punishments are OK then? Maybe like the stoning to death of adulterers, and rape victims (only female participants in the act of course), and the amputation of the hands of thieves? How about other traditional practices like female genital mutilation, in the name of respecting traditional values? We rightly condemn other countries for allowing these practices to continue, but are we to condone this one here at home? Although I have not spent 30 years in the NT, I do have some first hand appreciation of some of the problems faced by indigenous communities, and intra-comunal violence (including domestic violence largely directed against women) is probably close to highest on the list. Does the sanctioned perpetuation of violence, like spearing the thigh - and people can and do die from this - actually help break the cycle of violence? I don't have the answer, and I would love to meet anyone who does, but I doubt if encouraging or allowing anyone to spear each other is going to help. -
Yeah, maybe lucky - but probably a lesser offence than FIGJAM's which was face to jumper.Hope he only wipes his knees on upright opponent's shoulders from here on in. I think one could say it is just about the first piece of good news we have had from a tribunal in many years.

I trust that you are speaking tongue in cheek - they may be fantastic but both are injured, like so many of our high picks are or have been since drafting - Gawn, Strauss, Blease to name just a few.

Liam Jurrah - committal hearing in Alice Springs
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The burden of proof for prosecution is "beyond reasonable doubt".......sounds as if, assuming that this witness is regarded as credible, or more credible than Basil, there is significant "reasonable doubt".If Basil was, as is claimed, repeatedly hit with a machete and an axe, it is interesting that he had one (large) scalp laceration only, and no skull fractures. Doubting????? -

Just reiterating - not as quoted "proven not guilty", but "not proven guilty". -

Technicality - was found "not guilty". Nobody is ever "proven innocent". -
I wonder if, especially if maybe Sellar is back for KPP defence role, that it is time for Tom McDonald to make a move forward to provide some sort of target?? Just a thought, largely in desperation..

Half a season into a three year project - and some want to just sack him now. What is their alternative? A "collective"? Another fill in coach? Or do they know of a proven Premiership coach just standing in the wings waiting to be asked?
-
Surely wiping blood on shorts (Howe, MFC) is less bad than wiping it on a jumper (Buckley, CFC - 1 week)!!! I haven't seen the footage, but was it from his face or his hands?? The precedent as I recall was face to jumper. Sounds like a stupid act though. FCS what a merde season we are enduring. Who will take a specie to lift our dwindling spirits now?
-
Can you honestly say the same for plaintiff lawyers, yes, the very same specialty that our dear truthful PM comes from??Always seeking the truth? Come on......".it's all in the outcome, stupid" or, the end justifies the means.

Fascinating new thread. Surely we just need to sack Neeld, Missen, the Board and 50 PC of our list, and buy them all gloves and the 2013 flag is a gimmee!!!!!
