I really wonder just who all those who want to sack Neeld think would get any more out of this motley crew than he does......maybe a few short term fixes but no long term view.

I think the last few posters sum him up well Lazy Conceited Half hearted A classic poseur. I too held high hopes that Neeld could get his best out of him, but he hasn't and I don't think he will Col will go down as just another wasted talent.

Colin - I agree with most of what you have said. The complacency bred by the tanking era and its abject failure in lifting our performances is a very cogent reason that any suggestion that we again shhould tank in any way is total folly. I honestly do not think that Neeld is in any way tanking this year, and his experimentation is truly a genuine attempt to asses exactly where we stand as of end 2012. Firstly who is any good, and then who is prepared to get out of their earlier comfort zones and do as they are told to he best of their ability. I think those who aren't up to it or aren't prepared to adapt to change will be shown the door. I won't go into naming names at this stage, because I am not aware of the KPIs he set each player, and I doubt if any here are either. Sure we should get some good draft picks, but he cargo cult mentality that all we needed was Trengove and $cully, and Watts has been enormously detrimental to our club's psyche. Certainly those picks should have helped us far more than they have, but they did make "us" or many involved feel that it would be a diddle in the park once we secured them.

Whilst I sincerely hope you are right about JV, but I think this expectation may be a little premature for 2013.Fully fit Gys and JT, and a focused Moloney I would hope may make an earlier impact.

Thompson IS the Bummers' coach: Golden Boy is merely his puppet. Our club is structured differently, for better or worse - Neeld IS our coach and Craig is his support. I think he does NOT want to be a senior coach, and using him to berate miscreants would be divisive.

I totally agree that our sorry plight is multifactorial: but one cannot realistically expect that any coach, superman or a mere mortal, can transform a basket case in one season. Comparing Neeld with other first year coaches is unrealistic. Sanderson inherited a well developed and fit from Craig. FIGJAM was handed a list boasting a superb midfield, a cohesive defence and a top KPP forward. That is why these two teams are progressing while we are struggling. We need fitness enforce we can expect to get anywhere - only then should we judge Neeld. He jury remains out.

Big tick Nathan. He is a shining example for some of the more talented but underperforming guys on the list to emulate - shows what bloody hard work and dedication (rather than just going out and having a good time, eh, Col and others) can achieve. Others, take a long hard look at yourselves.

Maybe he wasn't required to by the previous slack bonhomie regime - and whatever some may say I doubt if it can be totally corre Ted in just one preseason.

I think that Morton was named amongst the better players for Casey: I saw bits and pieces only of the game and he still is, as you perhaps kindly put it, "so outside". The few times I saw him he just didn't want to contest. (weeping: and we could have had Cyril - weeps again)

Honestly, as a Demon supporter for 60+ years, and yet again a current member, this has turned into the very first season (yes, including the 70s and early 80s) ever that I just cannot bear to watch them play. I had always made every effort to optimistically get to games when family and work allows, but today I just could not bring myself to watch or even follow the scores more than two or three times. I will sign up again 2013, and no doubt be "optimistic" about the forthcoming season, but I really think I can take it only one more time. I have become genuinely depressed about our future and actually feel like crying when I read about our lack of progress.
