  1. I always approach the off season / preseason with boundless and often unjustified optimism .....it just gets me through......but this time, just this once, I really beleive it.Great video - I know the naysayers will say it is just words, but they looked as if they meant what they were saying (so different from you-know-who-with-the-shifty-eyes' 'demon for life' pledge presser).
  2. He (Magner) was consistently amongst our better players early in the season: hopefully with better and longer preparation he may be able to sustain it longer in 2013. Bloody hard working and missing out several times over the years surely has only served to increase his hunger.
  3. Very simple, in the fantasy world of internet blogs. Get Ablett Get Pavlich Get Cloke Get Pendlebery Get Selwood
  4. One can only imagine the venom and vitriol that would have flowed during season 1953 were the internet and Demonland up and running then: sack that useless Smith guy, and forget those hopeless inexperienced kids, Barassi, Adams, Dixon, Mithen, and that unco ruck man Bob Johnson. They will never get us anywhere. Who does this Cardwell guy think he is? The posters no doubt would have enjoyed the September humble pie with the seven consecutive GFs, and eleven consecutive finals series that followed those dark days. Be optomistic, and stand by Neeld.
  5. I guess our land is girt by sea describes one of few nations that occupies a whole island, and a bloody big one at that. Can't see the problem really. The second verse, rarely sung, is more controversial: "for those who come across the seas, we've boundless plains to share" is certainly an anachronism.
  6. Surely that was referring to Brock and Chris Johnson
  7. Maybe there are some gems on the back burner being hidden from the other clubs. :-)Surely in a billion or so there will be someone is physically and mentally up to it, and who wants an opportunity to travel.
  8. Wash your mouth out - never ever mention Howe and Neutron (an inert sub-atomic particle, with no energy output) in the same post - no comparison.BUT...being serious for a moment - it is great to have some positive news about MFC for a change. Soak it up.
  9. That sounds very Monty Pythonesque
  10. One thing to me sure does appear out of whack - the extrapolation and spurious comparison of what (appears to) happen in coaching boxes in a semi-final to what (appears to be) happening in the box of a coach trying methodically to turn around a sick culture built on decades of neglect.
  11. I guess you discount Clark because he broke his foot. Silly bugger.
  12. I have asked before, but does anyone have any factual information about his progress and recovery? Is he running now?
  13. All I can think is "thank the Lord (or whoever) that the club isn't a democracy ruled by the majority votes of posters from here". We would have NO players and NO coaching staff....all sacked at some stage over the past year or so.
  14. That may be not a bad summary of our situation, one that Neeld, Missen, Craig et al are starting to turn around. I am really looking forward to what a "Neeld created and Missen / Craig developed" list looks like by the end of 2013.
  15. Let us be realistic - IF MFC had a crystal ball, they would probably have broken it by now. Maybe there was a fake one in the recruiting department 2000-2010?
  16. They know no shame.
  17. Yes, anything is possible and speculation is rife. Next?
  18. Scurrilous suggestion. Of course it couldn't possibly be Carlton's cheque book, as they are honor bound to comply with the salary cap, and Vlad says they do (therefore true! :-) )so it must have been something like they are very fond of Visy paper bags.
  19. Mods - we have a 'like' button: can we please get a 'dislike' button too, for posts like this one??
  20. Are you suggesting that it doesn't matter?
  21. i agree with most of what you have said, but what do his, or anyone else's, brother's talents have to do with a player's value??
  22. Good luck to them, but as has been pointed out we had ONE (I think) "new traditional Sydney v Melbourne Anzac game" a few years back - I guess Eddie didn't like his party being gate crashed so thevAFL scrapped it. As far as international expansion is concerned, ground size and shape is a problem, though in cricket playing countries there should be more scope.
  23. Well if nothing else, maybe Neeld has instilled into these two (and hopefully others) that they need to work, work, work, wherever they happen to be playing next season.
  24. ...and you can see the Tanking Cheating Chickenwingers hanging onto him for more than three or four years without a Premiership???? Not bleedin likely.
  25. like getting Mitch Clarke?
