  1. So, am I correct in saying that nothing has happened today (in terms of MFC list changes that is)?
  2. Sorry, where are these vitriolic slanderous posts you mention? There is a lot of sadness and a degree of hurt felt by many Demon fans at the whole way the Liam (and Wona for that matter) dream ended. Some express it as anger - a feeling of being letdown by someone to whom the club had given an enormous amount of time, and assistance of all sorts. Others cope by just moving on. We all react in different ways. But there must be some rub off from the manner of Liam and Wona's exitings on the willingness to draft indigenes especially from the more remote parts of the Territory, especially in the short term. All that said, I look forward, as I always do at this time of the year, again with optimism as we welcome Dom to our club, and I wish him a very long and successful career in the R&B.
  3. Well I would tell them to sod off then. I am starting to come around, just, to 20, maybe, but no more (except maybe throw in Morton with the undertaking that they play him every time they play us!)
  4. Redleg - I take your line.Whatever Gys' strengths may be being argued here, outside leg speed isn't one of them. He is an inside clearance player, and IMO and some others' a good one at that, and we need these. One of Morton's (few) alleged strengths on the other hand is his outside speed - some would characterize it as being good at running from a contest! Some also talk of elite disposal, of which we have seen very little.
  5. The skinniness is a real concern - a broken jaw unfortunately interrupts significantly and attempts to address that too, for a month or two.But that is what Craig and Missen are employed to do - asses whether he can put on (appropriate type of) weight; if so, do it, if not bye bye I guess.
  6. Can a team have 'enough' accumulators? How many have each of the Premiership teams had this millennium? At least 5 I would hazzard a guess. Just for interest, can you please name our accumulators over the last 2 seasons?
  7. Demonland - can we please pin this thread and ask that you and you alone update the moves? As I tried in another thread, we need a central thread to which we can refer for reliable, unadulterated, troll-free status information. Thanks
  8. What is Couch's contract status?(By the way, is this stall a Chris Dawes thread?)
  9. Maybe out of left field, but what about (just thinking aloud) of offering Jamar and the next pick after 20, and keeping Martin as our #1 ruck? Do we have these players? Confirmed deal or speculative.
  10. Fabulous news. Now, has anyone any news on big Max's rehab and progress. If we get him up and at it, it will mean that Mitch may never have to ruck other than the odd cameo deep forward.
  11. I agree 100 percent with these posters, though a little off the thread topic. Gawnius Maximus looked far more composed in those few early games than any young ruck man I have ever seen. He has become a bit of a forgotten man, but if as we all (or most) hope he comes back fully fit he could be just about anything at all!
  12. Sheahan I think spent most of the year in defence and by all accounts came along very well. Williams is the blond guy who had the near death experience mid season, like induced coma in ICU etc, yet almost miraculously came back at all, and played some reasonable footy late in the year. He would easily have been forgiven for quitting altogether, or at least taking the remainder of the year off so I suspect that he is one hell of a determined dude. I wish them both well - were either or both to produce their best they would be a massive bonus. Both as I understand are fully developed big bodies.
  13. I think it is a bit of yes and no. Even if he makes a complete and very speedy recovery extra talls will take the pressure off him: and also a bit of insurance in case he doesn't, or heaven forbid, gets another injury of some sort which happens in the Hurley burley of AFL. What I sincerely hope does NOT happen, and I have posted this elsewhere, is that Mitch is asked to do a lot more ruck work. IMVHO that robs Peter to pay Paul, and exposes him to a different range of injury that true rucks get and learn to live with. He is far too valuable as a KPF forward to 'waste' in this way. IF Dumbitriou, in his (lack of) wisdom decides to defy the clubs and introduce the 2+2 bench then it could be a whole different story, but lets hope, just this once, he extracts his head from the deep dark unsavory place it usually resides, and does listen.
  14. Some of that may he true but is a little unfair - you overlook a couple of serious injuries that may have prevented him keeping up with Blease's progression, so to say that the decision is his entirely isn't exactly accurate. As I said earlier, IF the fitness team think he is capable of reaching the required level, he is far too good to just throw out.
  15. IF the coach believes that Gys can find the true commitment required at the highest level, AND (not or) Missen / Craig feel that they can help him / guide him to their elite level of fitness, then I sincerely hope that he will stay. He knows, or at least before his jaw fracture knew, how to find the ball in close, undisputed lay a prime requirement in an inside mid. Viney may be an exception, but a jaw fracture can quickly effect the overall fitness as well as taking some time to recover from psychologically. On the other hand if MN has any doubts then he is better moved on. NO PASSENGERS
  16. Well said, Jack. Dominic - show us all the light, son. We are looking to be inspired!
  17. Thanks for bumping this, Lobster. It is amazing that things just sometimes don't work out. Bad pick or bad development? He certainly had some great accolades early on.
  18. One hundred percent of the time...especially now he has had the foot fracture, why the hell risk it further in the hurly burly of regular ruck work? Sure, the odd deep forward encounter, but NO routine ruck work. He is far too good at what he does up forward.
  19. ...as Martin Luther said in1517 - October 31st I believe, so very late in the trade period.
  20. Hassa's goal made the difference between us finishing 1st and 5th in our latest (was going to say last, but I am once again optimistic being pre preseason) premiership year, 1964. (For those too young, 5th then was - no finals, mate). As regards his delisting for 1969 - geez, did you have to remind us of the extent of the horrendous, dark depths our beloved club descended in those days !! (It is OK, I will phone LifeLine if needed. Being a longstanding MFC supporter it is in my speed dial!)
  21. Thanks - will edit, and am happy to continue to edit as FACTS come in.
  22. He is experienced, strong, 'mature bodied', can kick, and has played "the role" that Neeld has asked of him so I would be very surprised were he to be delisted or traded (?contract status). I think we all agree that he has to brush up on a few things, especially his diving and giving away stupid frees, but if he does that he could be a very valuable contributor especially as a tight annoying HBF, from where his long delivery forward will be particularly valuable as our forward structure becomes more physically imposing. Someone observed that he is already working on his fitness and endurance so it would seem that he may have taken the message. Well done.
  23. This has been a very exciting week, the best that I can remember, but a lot has still to be settled. The threads have become enormous but confused with speculation interspersed amongst facts. Can we please reserve this for CONFIRMED FACTS ONLY. Trolls not welcome., though sadly I guess they will worm their ways in as usual to pump up their egos. IN: - Jack Viney for second round pick. #26 - Shannon Byrnes UFA - Jesse Hogan, Dominic Barry and pick #20 for pick #3 & #13 OUT: - Brent Moloney UFA
  24. Good one - I hope he realises that he has a huge opportunity to become an 'elite' player with increasing talent around him.Colin? Anything to say, mate?
