  1. Geez this club needs a win, any win, very soon. This thread, like so many others, has degenerated into personal bickering and points scoring. Mods???
  2. Not sure about the handball but the kick in looked possibly to have been over the line. Bloody brilliant passage of play: hope our guys have had a good look at what can inspire, and not just for half a quarter.
  3. ...and do we actually know what they were doing before or after their spa? A lot of hearsay going around - who knows, they may have been having a laugh because they had just been through the pain of the ice bath and were happy to be out of it? Really, people need to get all the facts. That is not to say that the guys are not taking the whole thing as seriously as they should, but this "incident" may well be totally out of context.
  4. That is a percentage - second halves - of 16.2,, and in third quarters of 8.9 !! I was wondering if our overall percentage of 35 was the lowest ever in 'the modern era', but those third quarter and second half figures are just so absolutely damning. I hope some journo asks MN to comment on them at his next presser (though the pathetic AFL Telstra website still cannot manage to record the questions in an audible manner). I had thought that Missen said there should be some significant endurance and fitness improvement this year though the full benefits of his (and Craig's) regimen wouldn't be through until next year. So, is it just that our players are just mentally weak when the blowtorch is applied in third quarters?
  5. IF it is all true, AND IF there is evidence that ice baths the day after are more beneficial than spas THEN it is not a good look. Evidence any sports performance gurus (who don't prescribe peptides or useless vitamin injections)???
  6. Big positive was that Cale didn't suddenly bulk up with whatever they use over there and tear us apart, as I seem to recall some posters suggested he would in some preseason posts :-)
  7. We have no culture - that is our big ongoing problem, and has been since mid 1965.
  8. As I said above, would Wines be any good in an absolutely crap team with no support ?????
  9. Y E S Wines is playing in a successful team: Toumpass is playing in a rudderless team. Who is to say that we're the tables turned that the tables wouldn't turn?? A ridiculous post so early in their respective careers. Yes, we don't seem to be able to develop mango four top picks - does that mean we pick the wrong guys or we are just crap at developing talent. The argument is circular.
  10. .......well firstly it is not up to him, and secondly would he like a third try at appointing a new one???!!!
  11. I was thinking just that but "didn't want to be too negative". Hard for nearly two quarters though, it appears from afar. Pep tides beat pep talks? They just must win the fourth to get a bit of positivity going into next week's game. And I agree, it isn't the coach out there getting smashed after a pretty good first half, and it sure as hell ain't Schwab.
  12. Conceded 9 of the last 10 goals. Anyone who is there - cracked under pressure or ran out of legs?
  13. Only able to look at the stats- looks as if we are fading out in "red time" - fitness or concentration?
  14. ahhh. Another off season rule change that I he vent yet caught up with.
  15. Huge worry if he has been concussed, again. (Not able to watch or listen but read that that is why he was subbed) Mustn't however rest on their laurels. Maybe we need the sort of pep tide, sorry, pep talk, that the Bummers had at half time yesterday.
  16. Swab them NOW. Those peptides are bloody amazing. We need a bucket full
  17. Maybe the same drugs that he gave them BEFORE last week's game?? :-)))
  18. TOO LATE - he needs to at very least meet and speak with the players this week, before Saturday.
  19. President is the face of the club, though knowing a bit about business would be helpful. I don't give a stuff if the CEO is much interested in footy, or even is a Demon follower - he / she needs to know how to run a big organisation, get sponsors and actually keep their noses out of the footy department. What is Peter Jackson, ex-Bummers CEO doing these days?
  20. I thought that this was an Ox thread - the last few pages have largely been devoted to guys having shots at each other about Casey and our supporter base: fair enough points but not in an Ox thread. ....and as I recall Glen Lovett and Stephen Tingay too. I sincerely hope that whoever organises this stuff can get Ox down to not so much address the players but just talk with them about the passion and the challenges, before this weekend's game. A circuit breaker is desperately needed.
  21. Ox has enormous passion for MFC, and his story of turning adversity around both in his early life and from his gambling addiction shows the strength of character of the guy. I am not sure if he has the business acumen to be President or a Board member, but sure as hell he could be a mentor for some of our "lost souls": he certainly wouldn't put up with [censored] excuses for underperformance. So, even if only in an informal player welfare / mentoring rôle, BRING HIM ON.
  22. Surely he, and the team, could hardly do worse.
  23. which is why I suggested, in another thread, that the new CEO invites TGRDB to address the players, this week, about life, success and what can be achieved by hard work as a team. Surely it could do no harm, and if RF were to do the same, all the better (though sadly he could never speak from first hand about success in the way that TGRDB could.)
  24. I was not suggesting that TGRDB coaches the team, but maybe a new CEO could induce him to come down to the club to talk to the current presumably severely depressed playing group about life, success and the joy it brings, and the benefits of bloody hard work and of working as a team.I wonder if any have even bothered to read his little book: "Ron Barassi Wisdom Life lessons from an Australian legend." The intro to chapter 12, (and I do wonder if he deliberately chose the number 12 with regard to the guy who currently wears that number), reads "You are not a champion unless you are consistent. You can have champion potential, but a true champion is on the job nine times out of ten." Well worth a read for general life inspiration, and certainly should be mandatory for budding footballers, if of course they can be bothered!
  25. Peptides seem to have helped a certain team, even if just a placebo effect.
