  1. Yeah - not an overall consistent game but did what was needed when it was most needed Maxy - what a legend. Up forward he always provided a contest and several times brought to ball down to a crumber who knew that Max could bring it down for him. Mutual confidence. GO MAX. Chip shows about as much interest as JW, at the moment.
  2. Well said.....Casey until and unless he shows some interest in playing AFL level contested footy.
  3. Exactly - how we play is what matters. Hell, Hawthorn play in that gawd awful wee and poo colored jumper, but they play with passion and they play with pride and do OK. When did our guys last play with passion and / or pride, despite our far more inspiring colour scheme??
  4. I agree and have mentioned it before, particularly re Col but other "talents" as well. Do they really WANT to be AFL stars, or would they just LIKE TO be? There is, an enormous difference. PYFO and show us, starting tomorrow.
  5. Just an afterthought. The club is so dysfunctional at the moment that I am concerned they may think it a good idea to call up Dr Phillip Nitschke or Dr Jayant Patel ;-(((
  6. ....and they even sprint when they don't have the ball, which our guys also must learn from tonight.......IF anyone at our club thinks they could learn from watching two determined, courageous and above all fully committed teams.
  7. Just something of more immediate concern : do we have a club doctor as of NOW? As of Sunday's game?
  8. THE most intense quarter of COMPETITIVE footy I can recall.....exhausting to watch. The club must demand that our guys sit together, as a group without coaches or hangers on at least the first few times, and watch this over and over and over again. Amazing intensity, effort, teamwork, courage by both sides. Not one half hearted effort. Never let go! Learn just what unconditional commitment gets you.
  9. A good but very sad analogy Jaded, but very apt for our beloved club at this stage. Hope they can get into rehab and recover. Well said, Biffen. As Churchill said: Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.
  10. Hopefully Tynan and Taggert will get a chance to show us just what folk who follow them are excited about: most of us have had about zero opportunity to make a call.
  11. Hasn't had much detriment to Essendung's performances, in fact may have drawn them closer. Let them have a quick look at the Bummes' response and get on with it!!!!!!!
  12. Cannot possibly be true - Dank offered performance enhancing drugs, didn't he, so clearly we didn't take any, and haven't for many years. PS: we must demand a full refund if any of this [censored] is true.
  13. I ticked the "Like this" box - I like the comment but I don't like the message from the club. Yep - what day do they play, and where?
  14. I do admire your optimism, and I usually have held on to the dreams of a big positive turnaround, but honestly this year so far has been THE most depressing one I have endured in half a century. Sure hope you turn out to be right and I would be very happy to dine on humble pie from Saturday until October. GO DEES -- to all you players selected any one week, it is in YOUR hands, not the coach's, nor the President or CEO's (whether you like these guys or not should NOT effect the performances of professionals: are YOU true professionals?), it is YOU and only you who can turn it all around.
  15. Clearly some here will not be happy unless and until PJ sacks Neeld, the President, half the plating list, and all the coaching staff and appoints some big name who would have no intention of coaching again let alone our 'basket case'.......if he doesn't they will be calling for him to be sacked too.
  16. maybe he can get some of our Hobbits to overcome their fear of Mount Doom, or the Lonely Mountain or whatever that place is with the fires.
  17. so not flawless, like so many who post here are (or believe they are)
  18. Do I recall that he left, perhaps under a bit of dissatisfaction by some, following the termination of Sheedy, which, if it in fact was at his instigation was a particularly gutsy move.
  19. Great if confirmed - I did ask what he was up to when news of CS sacking came through. A big coup. A huge task for him but he has a good history. Maybe they are awaiting Gary Lyon's blessing / approval ;-)))
  20. Ho hum Another Neeld, Watts, Frawley, Sylvia - keep, sack, trade etc etc etc thread Thanks
  21. Does this suggest that it is easier to instil "culture" into a start up club than re-infuse it into a long established club after half a century of crap? How did they do it? How should we do it? I can't see how sacking another coach mid contract could help. I have been all for a sports psychologist sine the ND days - certainly couldn't do any worse, could we? And PLEASE get Ox down to spend a few days informally with the players to try to install a bit of passion and commitment. It is a huge issue without an easy solution - NO evidence (twice in the last 5 years) that a new coach can do this on his own. Trouble is that I cannot see any of our players with the mental strength and leadership capability to replicate the DH policy - MN has I think tried with the 'moving on' of Moloney. The parallels with Thompson's early days are easily forgotten.
  22. I think the last intervention was done as much for Jimma as it was for the club.....NO, he shouldn't be involved with the next coaching appointment, whenever that may be. Hopefully in a decade or two after a spate of flags!
  23. Surely the very best that they could hope for is "attempting to cheat".
  24. ....and Daniher before him tried to imitate Brisbane / Essendone. Just not the right time and place - no original thinking at our club since Norm (and maybe Northey).
  25. Exactly our problem since Junior left - NO SENIOR on field leadership. We are going nowhere until someone SENIOR stands up: the big question is who has the interest to do so? We cannot rely on our young captain to do it all. Sylvia?
