  1. I am getting a bit sick and tired of guys having "off field issues" as an excuse for a poor season. Sure injuries, but........ Let's see if he has "character" and does something 2013 to justify his long contract. What do you reckon, Aaron? How do you want to be remembered - as another great talent who didn't / couldn't / wouldn't deliver consistently, or as a top grade contributor? Over to you.
  2. Good post biff.Puts things into good perspective, or at least a perspective with which I agree. Pick 4 should surely only be even considered for a super star - Pavlich, Tippett, Pendelbery etc type, and not for an OK but surplus off-cast from another club, especially the Pies. For all the criticism of Byrnes as a has-been, he will bring plenty of experience from a successful team, and work ethic which will help the young mids and forwards, as well as giving us, short term, a quick crumbing forward under Clarke (assuming his foot does come good - little news or rumour around re that by the way). Interesting thoughts about the forgotten man, Williams. An assessment after full preseason will be interesting. Maybe he will turn out better than Dawes anyway. He certainly seems to have the hunger - maybe a near death experience can do something for the psyche.
  3. Sure - but this was a learning year for the players and the coach. We will se if he has learned when we see Magner in the midfield almost exclusively 2013.
  4. Possibly a part of the Neeld assessment year - to see what role(s) he is and is not capable of filling.
  5. Pardon my ignorance, but isn't the FA week now over? Or does it just go on and on?
  6. Dawes just is not worth Martin + anything much, let alone the 13 that some have been talking about. I would rather keep Martin and use his as a defender who can ruck, especially if Riv flows down the bay to Corio.
  7. But apparently some think that we don't need a tough, ball hungry, totally aggressive inside mid who has already played against men and acquitted himself well; they must be the ones who feel we should just let him go for another unproven (against men) young 'gun'.
  8. It is nothing to do with anything that Todd has or hasn't done; it is a change in the rules by AFL, introduced unfortunately after Geelong got Scarlett and Hawkins so ridiculously cheaply.
  9. Dawes at 13 would be a gross overpayment: is Wayne Swan running our budget?
  10. How many pick 3 & 4 threads have we now had?
  11. He was at his best early in the season as a strong bodied mid: Neeld may have 'sacrificed' his game a bit by trying him elsewhere, in what after all was an experimental season. One shouldn't be surprised to see him back in the midfield after another strong body building preseason.
  12. What we need is to get Col fully fit, and playing in a more successful team ie Melbourne post 2012! He has just started to show some consistent form, particularly in the midfield where he is a human bulldozer: pity it has taken 7 years, but maybe he needed a coach who told him exactly what was required of him and didn't tolerate anything less, and also improved fitness and freedom from injury. I guess virtually anyone is tradable given the right offer, but I cant see that we would get value when he may just be turning the corner.
  13. When open in safari just click the little rectangle with the arrow in the top right corner, and then ADD TO HOME SCREEN. Whilst not technically an App I guess, it is a shortcut with a Dees emblem. Just click and it opens.
  14. Hopefully that is now the past tense, CAME too easily. I think that MN has already shown that that stopped after 2011.
  15. http://www.afl.com.a...16/default.aspx Interesting - has he cut off his nose to spite his face? May find himself out of AFL altogether. I guess having essentially said he doesn't like the hard work demanded of him by Neeld, maybe nobody wants him.
  16. Ah is is just so great for us to have so many really positive true supporters. So, he may not have been able to break into the strong Cats team, but he is renowned as a hard worker and has big match experience, so should add to the MFC lineup. But there is no pleasing some folk. And welcome Shannon - we are not all negative tossers by the way.
  17. I haven't followed him closely - just what have his injuries been? If recurrent soft tissue types I agree too great a risk. If "impact" injuries then has he been unlucky? Whatever, the suggestion of straight trade for Petterd, though unlikely, would seem reasonable.
  18. 4. NO WAY. Maybe Tippett, but not Dawes even with Wellingham.
  19. .....and do we he really know that something along these lines hasn't been "unofficially" discussed, that our club hasn't even though of that? Wow... Hope they read this board.
  20. I see one big difference is that (hopefully) the target in general play is on the move and can make a few degrees of adjustment: a target behind the goal cannot. But that does not excuse in any way poor set shots, or on the run to a lesser extent, at goal particularly from key forwards for whom kicking goals is their prime role.
  21. It should be a basic skill set especially for forwards. I would be interested to know how many put in practice sessions in their own time - one would hope that anyone striving for excellence would go the extra mile to up skill.
