THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
They just won't accept the fact of their guilt. The legal profession must be laughing all the way to the bank. Essendon saga: Supreme Court writ lodged against Gillon McLachlan and Mike Fitzpatrick Still someone else's fault. -

The hangover won't start until October 1st :-) I must say i haven't heard a lot about Jeffy. To this who have been to most sessions, is he looking sharp and interested? JKH must be looming as a definite rival for the crumber spot. -

The answer to reducing congestion around the ball is... skinny dipping with the Icebergers in mid winter? -
And don't forget the memorable vital kick he had for his new club, just before they delisted him. Or the tunnel ball :-)
-
They, not meaning the AFL or Ticketmaster though ?
-
Oh..no! That would mean the ball goes all the way back to the "neutral zone" aka the middle.....a lot closer to the opposition goal than were we to just hold it in deep forward and run it round in circles ? From my observations and (failing) memory that must have been part of the Neeld plan ?

I must say I agree with you - can't remember him being mentioned at all. Would be great though if he turns out to be a hidden gem

When are the the teams announced?

If he could also play decent footy he could be a handful PS that is not being sceptical, just don;'t know. Hope he is -

And, on the contrary, I am sick and tired of guys putting their bodies on the line the get the ball, only to be ridden into the ground - in the back - or jumped on in a stacks on the mill situation - again, in the back - getting pinged for holding. IMO the first priority must be a legitimate tackle, then sure, HTB if not correctly disposed. -

Surely it is not abuse, but rather exploitation. And yes, I agree with a drastic reduction - say 40 a game. -
I am sure there are guys in the MCC stand who don't care which, as long as they "kick it long"!
-
Thanks I thought it may have been something to do with that famous guy who got shot in Dallas the year before our last flag, or maybe that guy who now wears #24 for us. They have somewhat similar acronyms, and initials confuse me SQcM.

Who or what is jlt?

No so sure. Jack at age 6 ½ may have taken it on with a few of the EssenDrug thugs

HOW PAGAN SLIPPED THROUGH DEES' FINGERS
monoccular replied to La Dee-vina Comedia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe Steve, even you could have outdone Neeld CFC haven't done all that well with the importation of 'super coaches' have they? Pagan. Malthouse. I was thinking a bit about the Pagan's paddock option before I came across this post. Not sure if Jesse is athletic enough, at this stage, to carry it off, but I did wonder about isolating Jack Watts deep forward. Good mark, agile, quick, and would the opposition go for a strong gorilla who Jack would outrun, or a quick who Jack would outsmart and outmark? A bit like the GF (?1999) where Jarman was left one on one against Jamie Shanahan and stole the game. -

I hate zones too, perhaps with an exception. At a center ball up as well as limiting the numbers in the square maybe require all others to be within one or other 50 m arc. Could help get the game going more often. Pagan's paddock? Would we use Jesse for that? Or maybe Jack W4? Could be worth a try. But not a rule, just a tactic. Are you suggesting that the AFL needs a new CEO? One rule change that could help is - "no more rule changes"! -
Training - Friday 10th February, 2017 at Olympic Park
monoccular replied to Drunkn167's topic in Melbourne Demons
You would hope someone could give them a lift home. I know it is only one workout, but maybe Jeffy won't be an "automatic top 22" this year. JKH has had some good wraps already and even Dion J sounds to be progressing better than may have been expected. Good news - pressure on selection keeps everyone on their toes. Many thanks, as ever, to all who have contributed to these reports. Much valued by those of us who can't get there. -
The fifth one in the second row. No others. The only time I can remember was one of those nights we wore those awful pink jumpers v Footscray at the G, and some genius at AFL HQ decided that the maggots should wear pink too. In a very close finish one of our guys passed to the maggot - cost us the game. OMG the guys at AFL HQ are just so out of touch with reality. . Was OK back in B&W TV days - even North v Collingwood in a mud heap at Vic Park. But then, Vlad and GTD weren't involved at that time But you miss one point - the rules are not enforced even handedly. I have taken to watching a bit of soccer over the summer. As a neophyte I don't recognize the players, and I sometimes have no idea which team is which, unless a rare event such as a goal is scored and the scoreboard changes. I don't want that sort of thing to happen in AFL. I am happy to have some white - the player numbers. Otherwise, red and blue. How does our predominantly dark blue clash with predominantly red? Really? Are those dills at AFL HQ really that stupid? Sad for the future of the game if they really think that.

CB a are you really Mark Neeld? Trying to think of some. Barassi Snr wasn't I don't think. In the context of Jones v Viney, surfing too much probably isn't the first factor that would spring to my mind ? Maybe they can plot things waiting on a break?
-
Just asking - why do you think that they, as opposed to anyone else, should be able to pick up two gun mids in this year's draft? Couldn't any team with drafting skills, and luck?
-
Exactly. Really the conference group with most incentive is the 7-12, two of whom will definitely make finals. 1-6 yes, vying for top 4. 13-18 planning for off season repairs, end of season trips, coach sackings etc. Even ta(n)king into account Freo's sudden decline last year, wouldn't playing everyone once rounds 1-16, then basing the 'draw' for the final rounds based on conferences groups based on the previous year's finishing positions be almost fair? So the final rounds would be between the previous year's 1-6. 7-12, 13-18. That would give ample time for planning fixtures, venues and travel: deciding just a week, or a few weeks in advance as proposed by GTD would cause chaos, and may well result in seriously declined attendances especially for those needing to travel interstate. As the old advertisements would say - "I would like to see that". Will never happen. Compromised scheduling is in the AFL DNA.

Some very good points there BBP Those aspects of our performance must change for us to be a serious contender. Maybe, just maybe, he was prepared to sacrifice short term pain for longer term gain? After all, he didn't have a reputation to build or a contract to defend.
