I am thinking more of a parallel with Nev Jetta and his early concussions. I think many thought that he was done and dusted but patience, persistence, belief (self and club NB Roos) and hard work now sees him as an essential part of our team. Hope Gus follows a similar trajectory.

Just watched a few minutes mid 3rd Q - are Essundone coached by Ian Meckiff? Got away with three or four throws inside a minute.

Hallelujah Christian. Well done all involved. And i am very very very very happy - beat you by one :-))))))))

Dickins wrote quite a bit, I hear, though I don't remember hearing anything about footy.

IF he makes a good recovery he will be a very valuable player for us: if not he will have no trade value anyway. So this is surely just a 'non story' or as POTUS would say, 'fake news'!

The most open season I can remember, even more so than 1990. A big chance for any team making the finals. No false steps, Dees.

Is Clarkson going to walk unescorted to his hotel tonight?
-
Crows very ordinary in the second half (all that I have seen). No scoring capacity. Overrated ladder leaders. What a weird season.

Just turned on fox as the third Q starts - OMG Bruce practically orgasmic over Hawthotn's opening goal, and the set up. Used to be a good commentator but now so predictable.
-
I was just making a point that it seems whenever one of our players has had a positive article written about them in recent times they have had, for whatever reason, a poor game or two following. Hope this doesn't, for whatever reason, happen with this Christian.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 14

Big outs Jones and Watts Big opportunities Max and Billy Big challenge Demons Big opportunity Demons Are they up to it? -
Lets hope that he handles / responds to the positive article better than the other Christian did.

True, Ernest. The Doggies game was won by a very even team effort, with every cog interlocking almost perfectly. If a Diamond Jim type were to suddenly appear, the cogs may not interlock so well.
-
Biggest need? 1/ A psychologist who can help the guys believe in themselves every week and 2/ a primary school arithmetic teacher who can teach them that it is four quarters that make a whole, not just one or two or three (maybe they got one in last week prior to the Doggies game)?

Agree 100%. Recently rested due to the bloody bye. It speaks for the versatility of our list this year, and of the coaching and match committee innovative thinking And the McDs have brushed up their disposal and decision making in recent weeks (though still not perfect) I guess it will also come down to match ups and opposition structures, though we are starting to get into the quite unfamiliar position that it is they who will have to worry about us and not vice versa. I have been a fan of both, but agree that playing both would be very risky, let alone one.

But don't suggest that there is deep seated corruption in the intricacies of the AFL. Rubbish. Does "excessive" staging require costumes and make up?? But wait....the incorruptible AFL will now be looking out for a test case, so Demons beware, don't even stage mildly or you will cop a 4 down to 3.

Is Subi with its vast open spaces the best place for him to try a comeback? Haven't seen him for years ...... does he have the necessary pace? Barrie - always respect your views as one who knows success. Would THIS be the best opportunity for Trenners to return?

The quads start at the front of the hip and extend to the calf bone via the patella and its tendon, so, technically, they are connected via the quad Very resilient. Will look forward to his return, though I hope that there is a hard decision re whom to drop :-) I guess it may be because no two injuries are the same. Is it the ground? Always though it was, but how do the Saints, Norf and Footscray injury lists compare, especially re soft tissue injuries?

So good to get a goody (in fact more than one) from the Druggers, after Moorcroft, Heffernen etc -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 13
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He played pretty well v Beanpole in the Freo game and as I recall took a few strong marks. Was doung well until injured in the next and we sort of crashed and burned when he went down. Had Footscray had more big man strength in the midfield he would probably have played last week, and would this week had Gawnius Maximus not been ready. -
Just asking - has Collingwood ever had such tight scheduling with a trip in the middle? Surely such an integrity based body like the AFL would never lie or fudge facts to suit their agenda. Can't believe it.
-
What I read from the leader board is that we need to "watch" Yeo this week..
-
and, furthermore, hasn't happened before either.

Pains me as it does to defend any Carlscum player at the MRP, particularly after the totally unconscionable way they pumped up their players' "injuries" to our disadvantage, I thought that Daisy missed the ball but kept his eye on it and accidentally collided with whomever. Allowing Selwood (or anyone) to clobber anyone in the back of the head, especially when their head is on the ground, ala Rance v Watts, is just asking for a Phil Hughes type of tragedy. A bloody disgrace. Gobsmacked at such nonsense and double talk. But totally consistent with their inconsistent rubbish. What fairness - the 'draw', the ground 'deals', the MRP???? Very little at the AFL.
-
Dropping both byes would enable the "draw" to be not so badly compromised, and fairer to all clubs, (25 rounds) so I guess it is pretty certain that it will not happen. Clubs will just have to learn to manage their lists better - the pre finals bye was as much as a typical AFL HQ knee jerk reaction to a single event (Freo / Lyon's flawed misjudgement resting of too many players on finals eve) as was the "rushed behind" fiasco a reaction to a single GF event.
