  1. The winning "Reserves" team (shows my age) was a recurrent phenomenon of the Dark Years (™ MFC 1965 - ?). The ressies regularly appeared in Sept when the senior team was dross. A sign of too many NQRs?
  2. It wasn't at quarter time, Jose. It was when we were being dismembered. Thats the reality we have to be "realistic" about.
  3. Didn't see a Melbourne member there tonight having fun - we feel bad. It's not ok for Melbourne players (selected or not) to have an attitude that allows them to have a jolly time. Completely reasonable criticism.
  4. This - had a family member at the Club at the time... See you all tonight - Go Dees
  5. more latin - this place is going places!
  6. For a time last year, I was impressed. But I am not sure he's going to make it... I think he's a little like a cricketer fielding in first slip who's not up to it - they tend to cringe back when the ball comes fast, not go to ball. I've seen Jack do something similar at the base of a marking contest - and other times he goes and takes a great mark (early in the Hawks game last year). Hell I hope he makes it - won't be Jonathan Brown, but he could be Royce Hart. Well, no he couldn't, but you know what I mean...
  7. Just to add to Demonland retrospectivity, I wonder how Maric / Cheney would be under Neeld. Even Miller... I draw the line at Juice. It's going to take us a long time to recover from the last 6 or so years.
  8. Not today, nor last week. Has improved considerably - and didn't shirk. Not jogging up and down the wing - right in it, and a few long kicks to the forwards. No one other than Clark played well, but Morton is a keeper at the moment.
  9. Agree. He's a gun. He cares about the jumper and he would be a brilliant captain.
  10. Neeld on Watts: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/134871/default.aspx excerpt: --- He said Watts doesn't lack hunger but needs to work on his game at the lower level and improve in certain areas to earn a senior recall. According to the coach, Watts is well aware which areas of his game need to improve and is working hard to develop them. "He's receptive to it," said Neeld. "We've had some really good chats, productive chats during the week. He's on the training track confronting the things we want him to confront and we will see how he goes at VFL level." ---
  11. Just got the SMS In: Clark, Frawley Out: J. MacDonald, Watts Thinking back to Neeld's address to the players. I'm a fan of Watts - the player I want with the ball in his hands - but in the cold light of day, not good enough so far this year. Go Dees!
  12. Just got the SMS In: Clark, Frawley Out: J. MacDonald, Watts
  13. Took a snap at goal and missed, instead of handpassing over the top to Dunn in the goal square... (I think)
  14. I keep hearing this, and I don't know what it refers to... and I suspect there are many members who aren't sure what this big picture is. The older players? The board? CS? CC? Is this around what happened just before and after 186? If there is a cancer in our club, if Neeld is being undermined from within, then that's a disaster and we are doomed. What can the members <do> (to quote John Kennedy)?
  15. I wonder if this will change over time. This loss was CLOSE - and that's not something we've seen for a long while - and it seems that there has been a huge step up in defensive pressure. Did anyone else notice all the options from behind kickouts - including Morton taking the man on? We transitioned out ok. A HUGE improvement over "bomb it long to Jamar on the members wing" of the last 3 years. I think the flair will be released when the defense is sorted. Go Dees
  16. Bad night. Hope it's a one off - beaten one on one and no impact in the air.
  17. Haven't had the nervous shakes at 3/4 time for many a game!!! Go Jordie. Rain easing might favor the Aints...
  18. At the game. Morton >> Watts tonight. When its wet and slippery our boys want it more. Still not able to run both ways - might not have the fitness to run this out.
  19. I can live with this. Morton ok, Watts needs to more. Multiple times we ignore the centering kick to a free man in the corridor. MUST be instructions to help learn the plan. Watts keeps presenting in the corridor, gets ignored and if there's a turnover, his man is free.
  20. Lose the trumpeter until we win something
  21. Hoping to see desire and effort like last week. Trenners to have a good one. Train just pulling in now. See you there Go Dees
