Sorry to disagree harry but it was not one quarter if the hawks had kicked straight we would have been so far behind at quater time we would not have been able to hear the band. We were beaten in almost every aspect of the game bar kicking for goal. Straight kicking by the hawks and it would have been a 100 point hammering. And we did not beat Collingwood or the Bulldogs last year end of story.

One big difference Collingwood and Essendon were good teams with big followings when he started the drive. We seem to fall short in both areas at present.

Surely there is one day of the year that does not have to have a sporting event. I am not religious but lots of people are and there wishes deserve some respect. 5 out 6 days is easily enough. And even if there was a game why would we deserve it? Hopefully in three years time we might have something to shout about but 2 wooden spoons and 10th does not qualify.

Akum you have it in a nut shell, this is exactly what I have been thinking the last two weeks. So far this season we have drawn with a team that we beat by 10+ goals last season, been belted by the hawks and had trouble beating the two sides who will fill the bottom two positions this year. The next three are teams we seem to struggle beating in our better years. If we are as good as we think we should win all three so by Sunday May 15th we will know if we have improved or it is just another "melbourne" year. Could be Champagne or river water for DB by then.

Hardtack I disagree, we were well off the mark in a lot of games last year, we had a purple patch during April to early May. The rest of the season was ordinary at best. With a month to go we had a chance and played what I think was poor football. We beat only Richmond over the last four games.

HT I think we will have some idea by July. Remember the team is largely his selections and we play his game plan. The put up or shut up date is not long off. IMO if we do not win more than 8 games with this years draw it will start to look dark for DB.

I am a similar vintage and the above expresses it well. After all these years it is hard to be Patient when you have been for 46 years. However When I look at our side I see a lot of guys with less than 20 games and quite a few with less than 10. So am I expecting too much? probably! The way we are playing so far this year suggests our season will be over at the end of August. I have rationalised that 8-9 wins is probably the max so I just need to enjoy 6 more this year. I guess I will have to live a bit longer as a GF win seems to be as far away as ever.

I would have thought he needs to show a few more good results at Casey before he gets another senior shot. I think he was kept on the list as insurance. Very few injuries means he plays at Casey in the medium term. Martin has the spot that Juice would fill and I have seen nothing to suggest we should drop him to allow Juice in.

What you have said about Watts playing at Subi makes sense. I am not being a smart ar-- but would like to know under what situation would you not play him? It seems you would have him in for the next ten weeks no matter what happens.
