After being frustrated last night with the game, waking up today I'm thinking how good is it to follow a team that plays a "bad" game and wins by 43 points.

My father used to tell me " good sides find a way to win when they are not playing well". Having said that I didn't think we were that bad. Richmond gave it their best effort but ran out of steam in the second half when the cream rose to the top.

“If we play like that next week vs (whomever), we’re done.”

”Had we been playing against a half-decent side we would’ve been flogged.”

    Same old, same old. 🙄

We’re not even a third of the way through the season, and the season is long. There’s gonna be ups and downs and even sideways. Nothing is decided in April. Take the win ffs. Moreover, ENJOY the win. Enjoy each and every win, even if only for 24 hours. Please and thanks. 👍🏽😃

Saying that gives no credit to the tigers. They came to win and negated guys like Petracca in the first half. But in the end it is difficult to keep good players  out for four quarters.

Has Laurie ever been played in the seniors as a pure midfielder for a whole game? I feel that if Oliver doesn't play against Richmond maybe it's time to find out how Laurie goes in that role.

From my watching LDC sadly I think he is one of those players who is too good for VFL and NQR at AFL level. We will know by the end of this year.

    Fair enough OD.

But I think any comparisons to weed are a stretch.

I saw weeds first practice match. It was against the pies at Olympic park and i happened to be standing next to his grandfather.

Weed looked the goods that day. Strong leads and clean hands. Good stock and Hollywood looks.

Weed was a top 10 draft pick, so hopes ane expectations were justifiably high.

But without bagging weed it became apparent pretty quickly that he lacked perhaps the most important attribute of any AFL footballer - competivness and desire for the contest.

Sure players can develop their intensity but really they either have it or they don't.

One of the clearest indicators is whether second and third efforts are 100% instinctive.

From the get go weed always seemed to have a millisecond delay in getting after the ball after the initial contest. That might fly at the junior level, but it doesn't cut it at AFL level.

The complete opposite is true of JVR. The thing that jumped out at me straight away when I first saw Roey play live was his intensity, competitiveness and will for the contest.

That want for the contest and the ball is the reason why I'm so confident jvr is going to be a star.

A kid now, he will be an absolute beast when he is in his mid twenties

I wasn't comparing the Weed to JVR. Just mentioning how people were hot for him at the time. You are correct JVR has way more fire than the Weed every showed.

    Seriously?

JVR, who only tuned 21 two days ago, is so obviously a gun i'm astounded any footy fan could not see it. Obviously the club do.

    And its not just potential.

His first season provides evidence of his ability and a clear sense of his ceiling.

His first year of senior footy matches or exceeds that of every gun forward for the last 30 years, in including the current crop (King brothers, Oscar Allen, JUH, Amiss, Logan McDonald).

You may well be right Binman, it is just my personal opinion. I just don't see the potential that the majority see. I see a player who will be serviceable but not a very good KPF. I will be very happy to be wrong in a couple of years time. I do remember the club and supporters being all gung ho about the Weid and we know how that ended.

  6. Unlike the previous 4 weeks I was sulking on friday and saturday. Really no interest in sport then came late Saturday and all of a sudden the losing of a game of football became very small. Yesterday all I could think of was " it could have been my daughter, my wife, my grandchildren. What sort of world am I leaving my grandchildren? Thank god for sport it will help over the next week to escape the real world.

Laurie is probably the one who has a chance. I'm not seeing AMW making it but he could surprise.

Hunter is another but he needs a few games is my guess.

A pity the VFL team has a bye next week given they've just had one

    What a laughable competition.

That is the worst kicking for goal I have seen from him, he is usually a pretty good kick for goal.

I think he will be in our team next year.

I wish I shared your optimism Mr Leg.

Jefferson was just ok and nothing more - I made the effort to actually watch that game on replay as I’d read the comments in the match day thread about him performing well

His direct opponent was a very raw defender who frankly looks like he might struggle to make it

Jefferson’s kicking for goal was bordering on embarrassing and he constantly kept running too close to the man on the mark (such a basic and fundamental mistake). I saw little from him in terms of intensity and physicality to give me any more than a glimmer of hope. For me he still sits in the category of talented junior that performed well at times against kids but may never transition to an AFL player

We have seen this type of player before - Weed and Schache two recent examples on our list - hopefully I’m wrong but I do have serious doubts that he has what it takes

The above covers my thoughts Sydee. He would need to make big gains to be an AFL level talent.

Snap. I just checked that (who blues play).

That's a pretty big upside as the pies blues game will be hyped all week in the lead up and both teams will smash each other.

The other upside is we have a two week bye break a fortnight before the blues game (lions, two week break, tigers, cats, blues).

And we do t do any travel from now till after the blues game (travel caj be a factor in terms of messing with the recovery and preparation program).

So there won't be the same level of accumulative fatigue there otherwise would be.

The blues by comparison had their bye after round two (but also do not travel before our game).

And in the lead up to the dees clash they play, the crows, giants (at marvel), cats and pies.

That's a tough run - four physical and intense games - particularly the last two.

Don’t worry about any of that we will beat them.
