2013 Dream Team : Legends + All Stars Leagues
DeeVoted replied to DeeVoted's topic in Melbourne Demons
There are still quite a few on the lists that have yet to ID themselves, dont be shy. (see opening post) I need your demonland username along with the name of your DT team name. From the confirmed names I will them 'try' to gather all the seasons scores at the end of 2013, then match up who is who, and the highest 18 scores will be invited into the "Legends" league for 2014, followed by the next best 18 for the "All Stars" League. The "rookie league will be used for fillers to make up the numbers if required, and also those that *cough* tanked in 2013. I am banking on at least 36+ coaches returning for 2014 for this to work. Currently there are 3 leagues full, along with a few 'blowins' For it to work and make it easy to organise for next year, I need some more to confirm themselves. if you are on the list, and havent got a confirmed next to your DT team, then post your username with your DT team name. Thx See the opening post for all the coaches in the 3 leagues. -
Welcome snomed ... still have plenty of places to fill if anyone is looking for a league to join. enter this code = 196541
-
The 1st league the code = 196541 ......... still spots available.
-
The proposed 3 league tier, hit a snag and wont be happening. (See DL7's explainion in an early post in this thread) add to that, not enough confirmations came back to make 1 league let along 2. So its a free for all, and lots of spots left if needed.
-
If you havent done so already, use the supercoach league code = 196541 to join in the fun.
-
NP. plenty of spots left. Perhaps we can pick up the pieces and organise the leagues on a points basis for 2014, if we get the numbers to fill a couple of leagues.
-
In the meantime without last years scores and the lack of interest so far. I will open up one of the SC leagues I have reserved. Unless there are any objections or a change of heart. These leagues are non draft leagues. The 1st Supercoach league code = 196541
-
I was hoping DL7 would fire it up, it was his baby but It doesnt look like it. I am looking after the DT leagues. The confirmations I have put next to peoples names was to help DL7 with sorting out who was interested again this year. As I have no idea who is in what league from last year. Going on confirmations of interests thus far, it seems like its fallen by the wayside. I have 3 x SC leagues ready , if there is no interest to continue from 2012, with last years format . I will throw all leagues open. 1st in, best dressed.

2013 Dream Team : Legends + All Stars Leagues
DeeVoted replied to DeeVoted's topic in Melbourne Demons
All of the 3 leagues are full as of last week. We still have a few yet to confirm their Demonland username with their DT team. If anyone hasnt done so, if they could do it, when they get a chance. This will help sort out everyone into their league for next year (based on their 2013 season score). Good luck to all the leagues, just remember, our scores combined in all leagues contribute to where Melbourne end up at seasons end in the overall standing of all clubs supported. Go Dees. -
It took me awhile to convince myself to watch it, only because of the fact of seeing whats-her-face on TV. Then I found out one moron was replaced by other moron, (Kennett),who is the past has also taken some decent swipes at the MFC. Well, what a surprise, clearly the best FC show ever. It is a must see if anyone missed it. Footy classified and all other shows (including all major newspapers) should have covered this 7 months ago,I am on record as saying an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth wasnt the right way to go. The AFL would have been far better off, finding MFC not guilty on all counts, dismissed the case, stood up and admitted their flawed system was to blame. BUT let this be a warning to all, any breachments in future will be thoroughly investigated would be severely dealt with. Cased closed! To me it highlighted a few things, I was surprised Kennett hadnt seen Libbas interview prior to last night, he was genuinely shocked. Makes one wonder how many more people are not aware of past sins of other clubs, and reinforces my point of the media not giving outsiders all the facts of ALL other allegations from past seasons. We knew more than one club took advantage of the sytem, but until now, (the horse has bolted?) not one bothered to highlight any others involvement. The spotlight and heat was all on the MFC. (because of poor journalism) What a breathe of freah air last nights show was, instead of some twisted old woman, bearing a grudge and giving only her personal views and opinions, that are all twisted and targeted to one club.we got to see an "outsider" (Kennett) give an insight to his thoughts, and shock when he was shown past statements involving a number of clubs. Kennett got back some brownie points with me after last night (although not all is entirely forgiven). It wasnt entirely on his thoughts that favoured our club getting a raw deal I liked, but listening to him, make some decent views and facts from anothers perspective, something we wouldnt have got if miss know-it-all was on the panel last night. If Wisdom Wilson never sets foot on TV again, it will be a season too soon. Going on feedback she wasnt missed by footy fans. (if that isnt a hint, dont know what is). The show did let itself down, Lloyd should have ben interchanged with Grant Thomas, I thought Llyod was struggling early on, Thomas' views would have been the icing on the cake. Classic case of not fielding the best tean on the night, Tanking? Dont expect this to go anywhere, the sacrificial lamb has been served on a platter and offered and to the footy gods, some still not content, but got most of her wishes. A botched investigation from day one, add a feeble cover up to explain away the verdict, and it has left many questions left to be accounted for. Dont expect any response from the Age, The Tiges were mentioned in dispatches last night. A great show, 7 months too late. pity.

7 months pfft .... we get left holding the can. Some other clubs can chip in, because were took the brunt of all this. I am disppointed we didnt take it further, but at the same time bloody glad its over. We can move on. My guess is, both parties made a deal, 1: NOT to use or be found guilty of tanking, use anything but that word to be charged with ,and we have a deal.. I would guess our legal team advised to take what was on offer after talking to the AFL and got the best deal for the club. It could have dragged on for another year. Bailey and Connolly can feel a bit hard done by, considering what has come out of other teams coaches and players mouths in the past. The fine is a bit hot, half that, and suspend the balance for being good boys for the next decade, and all is forgiven. Still peeved at the medias take on all this, guilty 1st then prove innocence. If they play the same tune for every team, then fair enough. But they wont. All hell will break loose should anyone or club say or do what we have been charged for, and it doesn't get acted on in future. The agenda has been set. Or was that just for the MFC, do we have our own set of guildlines, or do the rest have a different guideline?. If they want new evidence for charging anyone else, perhaps a hotline can be setup, I'll be 1st on the line, I think I recall a few coments along the lines of having the clubs interest over winning to gain draft picks. Its over, dont give a stuff what other club supporters think. The MCC can jack up $$ for the usage of the "G" and slip us the extra bucks on the side. Bring on the footy, we are on the move. Go Dees.

Thrown to the wolves & media gone to the dogs
DeeVoted replied to DeeVoted's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hasnt this been our biggest gripe, why us? and only us? They did it, so we did it too, doesnt hold water as valid arguement. What does ,is that perviously in the past it was well known to all, other clubs have admitted or alluded to hitting the handbrake. We could ask for nothing less, for a fair go in the media, and the AFL. If they investigated 6 clubs, with the same vigour as we got, and found only 1 or 2 had a case to answer, then we cop what we get and move on. If the had the knackers to do that, all teams, all supporters cant argue about not getting a fair go. The AFL and the media, havent done themselves any favours, they hand pick their targets, beat their chests, while others in some cases have done a lot worse, but they turn a blind eye. ie: take a well know former West Coast, Richmond Player, being reported to having a drug problem,. yet some young Casey player gets nailed for not taking a drug, only guilty of ordering it online. There are more examples of NOT having a level playing field. If Kero and a few others, gave their readers or listeners a full brief, instead of choice words intended to sway opinions to a guilty verdict, then would we have any reason to feel hard done by? If someone (maybe I should use alien) from Mars walked into this mess, read what was said and or reported, they would no doubt reach the conclusion the MFC are as guilty as hell, and no other AFL team has stooped to this low level to gain benefits of getting draft picks. Kero decided to lash out from the get go, this is where I feel she erred, and she hasnt let up ever since. If she or any of the other media personal has a bee in their bonnet about getting us hung then all we should ask for if a fair hearing, stating all the facts, giving readers all the known facts, a full background. Then go all out IF that was what in their mind thought was needed to make their point. But leaving readers and the AFL to reach their own conclusions. We are all mature enough to figure out for ourselves whats right and wrong, and would except what was coming. Instead its been reported on a one way street, guilty and no excuses, nothing for an outsider who has no idea on AFL matters to draw their own conclusions or knowing what went on in the past, to figure out that perhaps others in the AFL had used a bad system, to gain an advantage. Some in the media are just using a powerful tool to vent their personal greivences, on a pesonal level. Yet fail to back it up with real facts, and report the whole story outling why a party should be found guilty, or innocent, depending on facts presented to them. If someone reads the paper next week, and reads the MFC got cruxified, wouldnt they want to research why? Read back to day one, that presented all the facts, relating to then and now, and then have the full story and know why a conclusion was reached? Instead what we got, was MFC is being investigated and accused of tanking. then it jumps into, MUST pay the penality. Heads must roll. Hand on a second, where are all the middle bits, to back up being guilty or innocent? Yes we heard all about the reasons why, but all leading to being guilty. She has been sharping her guilotine since day one. If it falls her way, I'll bet she change her tune, when if she is happy with her wished outcome something along the lines of, while I feel sorry for the parties involved etc, lets hope they can gain respect back etc etc. A bit like I just murdered nextdoors cat, then giving them flowers for its demise. -
The media of today. Lets target sport, as we can relate to our own misgivings from the drawnout saga of our investigation in progress. It is really has hit rock bottom.even with the advancement of electronic media able to give us events as they happen, most of what we get isnt worth the read any more.Of course there a small handful that are able to express a view that is even handed. They are able to give their readers a full detailed account of a what happened how it came about, what actions may be taken,if possible who or what is involved. (if that can be made known), at least leave their readers to form their own opinion or conclusions.while waiting for a official statement to be released and then pass it on based on fact. Some or most will remember after reading an article would get to work, or school, and couldnt wait to discuss a probable outcome with workmates or classmates each having formed their own views, perhaps swayed or had'nt been unware of some facts reported .Usually made for some interesting discussion.Just like a mystery novel, most would be on tenderhooks waiting for the outcome to see who was right or who was way off the mark. What do we get now, we get a 2-bit sports writer, along with a few others, that, for whatever reason, decide the facts arent as important as their own opinon. They would rather take their own high moral ground.ignore the facts.not even bother to do any research on events that lead to the story taking place therefore not giving the reader a detailed account leading up to,and what could be the worst or likely outcome. They chose to guess, try to pull rabbits out of hats get everyone that isnt a fanboy. offside. baying for their blood. Some will remember Alf Browm head sports writer in days gone by. (to name one) Regarded as one of the best ever in his day. He didnt have the luxury of shooting off emails he relied on phone calls, setting up interviews and getting the facts, then passing it on to the readers. He got the facts from the horses mouth, why? because he was respected he got the scoops of the day why? because he reported the truth. He had his opinions as well, but they were well informed opinions, not the dribble we have been getting of late. Rex Hunt started it on radio, calling the footy, having some fun with players names etc etc. then it become over the top, the novelty of it worn a bit thin after a few years. Some now on the TV games. still think its funny to do it. *no names* they forget that we dont want to know if the 'weapon' is on the bench or Magner built the entire freeway on his own, and in his spare time. They have turned the call of the game into a farce. We want to hear who is playing on who, who is likely to step it up and win the game. How the new recruits are playing, therefore I couldnt give 2 hoots what the weapon or anyone else for that matter had for breakfast. Captain blood would be turning in his grave, he could call a game, and do it well, and throw in a few hoots to laugh along with. But he was always the professional a more one-eyed tiger man you would never find. But he would say it or report it as it was. He was loved and respected for it. He was never biased, spoke from the heart, and never get loyality get in the way. Not one report I have read. I havent bothered reading everything reported on our saga, frankly (no dont call me Frank), I have had a gutful of the whole (non) event I will call it a non event, because it cant be proven beyond any reasonale doubt what took place. Has anyone reported or bothered with doing some research on our results on the latter part of our season in 2009,compared notes with other teams (as I did and posted in the 'tanking' thread??) from there pulled it apart made a case that we have something to answer too? A detailed report that looks into all the facts and figures, then gives the reader a detailed reason why we could be in a bit of trouble? NAH too hard. its easlier just to slag off everyone and the club itself. Well girly. you gave it your best, and we see now, why you are adorned and respected pfttt. You havent learnt a lot, have you? Add the drug investigation to your CV, (bomber fans say hi) and it wont be much longer before you will find youself writing for the local rag, on the upcoming garage sale at Joe blogs in the coming weeks. You might stuff that up as well, then find yourself having to back track or twist a few more words around to make yourself look less stupid. You cant debate your stance as proven on TV, without trying to shout someone down, the only thing you missed was stamping your foot and then a pout, followed by walking out. Nice work from a head sports reporter. In the words of your most famous player, and someone you might want to study on how to report based on fact and level mindedness. If you dont mind UMPIRE!!! PS: At the start I was willing to accept a fine or a suspended sentence, but having read the crap you managed to spread, in the words of another famous player "we stuck it up'em". I hope we do, and we clear our brand, our name, by whatever means it takes. The club needs to do it for themselves, the supporters, and to stick up you where the sun no longer shines. If someone can explain why it has taken over 6 months to reach a descision, am I all ears.

That comment by Roos, is more damning than CC now poor attempt on trying to be a comic. That has turned to bite him on the bum. Lets face it, we have been singled out, comments by various coaches and players from other teams are on record of more damning statements.
-
Maybe, maybe not, that it would have panned out that way. Brock squealed, and Kero has been throwing petrol on it ever since. If you look at round 17 . Richmnond, sitting 14th, beat 8th placed Essendon yet faced West Coast in round 20 and lost by more than 13 goals. Thats one example. Our worst perferormce in the latter games was against North. We pushed Sydney, playing at Manuka. We havent ever played well at Docklands then to play Carlton there, 16th played 5th,we lost by almost the same amount as Richmond did, when they played Hawthorn, who were only just a few places above them. On paper what it highlights, is ,how anyone can say we threw games.Yet Richmond, when you study their latter games, went worse than we did.Its all water under the bridge now, but the investigation supposedly was checking our performances, to prove tanking, yet, it is there to see. that it isnt as cut and dried as some have reported in the papers. Our crime was we finished last. Without all the hype and any background on the events, the results show, we were more competitive than Richmond in the latter games. If that is any guide, we really have been found guilty by media witchhunt. When our fate was sealed I was torn between winning and hoping to gain priority picks. Yet some hack in the paper, has stooped to using anything she could get her hands on.it make matters worse. Nobody has ever mentioned or reported the results of these last games, clearly showing we werent trying to win. Nobody in their right mind, would expect last place to win again St.Kilda sitting 1st. Yes, we threw players around, why wouldnt you, we were crap for the whole year, not just for the latter part of the season . Richmond were fast pegging us back, the question should be asked, why? They wanted extra picks, and Scumdog too. They went from beating a 8th placed team to being slaughtered by West Coast, who were just a few places above them. While all this was going on, our results show we only had one bad lose to perhaps a team we may have beaten, all the rest of our games, you wouldnt expect any different on the outcome. We finished last, and got cruxified by media, thats not reporting the facts, that is a witchhunt.

Awhile back I put this together. Makes for an interesting agruement on who was trying harder to tank. Compared who got the chocolates. If Richmond hadnt kicked the goal to win the game (after the siren) me wonders if a certain reporter would have gone just as hard if the Tiges had finished last. When you run through these last games, compare teams, who played against who. and then the margins won and lost. It shows Melb actually outperformed Richmond. Round 17 Ess (8th) Vs Rich (14th) Rich x 5 pts MCG (78.9% prior round) Melb (16th) Vs Syd (11th) Syd x 18 pts Manuka (72.9% prior round) ----------- Round 18 Melb (16th) Vs Rich (12th) Rich x 4 Pts MCG (73% / 80.4 prior round) ----------- Round 19 Rich (14th) Vs Syd (10th) Sys x 55 pts MCG (81.4% prior round) Nth (13th) Vs Melb (16th) Nth x 62 pts MCG (74.0% prior round) ------------- Round 20 Rich (14th) Vs Coll (3rd) Coll x 93 pts MCG (79.8% prior round) Melb (16th) Vs Freo (15th) Melb x 63 pts MCG (72.5% prior round) ------------ Round 21 Rich (14th) Vs Haw (9th) Haw x 42 pts MCG (76.9% prior round) Carl (5th) Vs Melb (16th) Carl x 57 pts Docklands (76.5% prior round) ----------- Round 22 W.Coast (11th) Vs Rich (15th) WC x 80 pts (76.4% prior round) Melb (16th vs St.K (1st) St.K x 47 pts MCG (75.5% prior round) ========================== Rich finished the season on 74.3% Melb finished the season on 74.7% ========================== last 4 games Richmond dropped 7.1% won 0 games Melb gained 1.5% won 1 game

Intra Club Game - Friday 15 February 9:30am @ Casey Fields
DeeVoted replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks to everyone who posted their views on the inter club match. It's always great to read what others see and take away from training sessions etc. I have read through the entire thread, and would agree with just about everything written. I went down under my own steam, and found myself on the reality bus for the return trip home. If someone had asked for my thoughts on leaving I would have said 'uninspiring' (perhaps a little too harsh a word). From being able to attend a handful of training sessions, and knowing our fitness was much improved, I was now looking forward to see how they performed under some game pressure. For starters, as I got closer to the ground, the gentle breeze I left behind, had now turned into a strong wind, not ideal, add to it, it was hot, my expectations were lowered a little, add this together, it was going to be tough going out on the ground. First of all, what did we have? We have a team on the wrong end of the ladder, with approx 36 players divided into 2 teams. Both teams of even levels of skill and experience. All still learning new structures and add new team mates. What we got was a intense battle that never really reached great heights. Throw in, players were at times switching sides and that was unsettling I am sure for a few players. For a first full blown hitout, some things I noticed. Hogan is going to be a gun. He presents himself with leading and demanding the ball. Looks like an older traditional full forward from what I observed. He leads well, contests well. His kicking will improve as will all other aspects of his game. If he stays fit and healthy, Casey have great kid playing for them this year. That passage of play on the half forward line, on the boundary line, he worked his way out of a tight spot, to nail a 35 metre pass to Davey, who was a metre from goals, hit him smack on the chest. Blease as I stated in a training report pre Xmas, has stepped up a snotch or 2, with some consistent game time, I expect him to keep improving. He does need to find his own ball, but when he has it, IF Toumpas wants to 'light' up the wing on the MCG, Blease is going to light up the whole of the 'G". He was a bit in and out of the game, but so were many on the day. Rodan is going to be more than handy, his experience and nouse will cause some headaches for other teams, as well as being able to guide and bring others into the game. Gillies showed he can be more than handy, as did M Jones, Barry (but may need time to build up a bit more, and with experience with Casey should crack a few senior games), he showed some class in patches. As did Toumpas. Garland murdered Davey, out sprinted him to the ball, won the ball, and run away, left Davey struggling to regain his breath. I am not sure about Flash. Perhaps the All Star trip to Darwin, caught up with him today. He is borderline if he can get past 2013. No doubting his skills, his tank is under a question mark, or perhaps the body is telling him its nearly over. I hope not, I would love to see some of the old Flash back. Jamar and Spencer broke about even around the ground. Both were hardly sighted, Jamar took 1 great contested grab and apart from the hitouts. in his favour, didn't get into the game much. I hope Gawn doesnt suffer any more set backs, because our ruck stocks are a bit low (I am keeping on eye on J.Hannath, and will be taking an outside interest on his development. We sniped Clark and perhaps Hogan (ex W.A) so I guess Freo got one back on us.) Standouts (not in order) Viney, Byrnes, Blease, the Jones boys. and throw number of others into a hat. To sum up, two teams, under trying conditions, all trying to impress, made for a tight contest. Some really good signs, loved the white team on the outer wing, in one passage of play, they strung together a chain of handballs to running players that opened up the game. It was excellent ball movement by hand. As noted in previous posts, I only seen one hospital handball to a stationary player. Overall, I wasn't entirely convinced on our propects for the year. but its way too early to judge on one hitout. Some NAB Cup games, I hope we get further into that comp this year, as every game we play we will improve our game plan/structures, and the more they play together the better they will be. Some good things I came away with, but the 'lid is still on atm. -
After reading your post, I hope its a swift and successful recovery. If its a test of character, you'll beat it with one hand tied behind your back.
-
That went through to the keeper.Wilson hates Schwab, she would burn the joint down rather than have him anywhere near the place.
-
We need a memo leak, IF Schwab loses his job at the MFC, he is a hot favourite for the Tigs job. Dont let the truth get in the way of a good lead Then wait for the BANG!! The offices of the rage with go into meltdown by our friendly female reporter in there.
