The survey takes approx 8 mins to fill out. Dont expect to overrule KB. http://surveys.questionpro.com/a/t/AILF3ZPhoM Most surveys end up being construed to suit their agenda. But I welcome the AFL on giving supporters a hearing.

This is an excellent response, well thought through. While I acknowledge most of the other posts thus far. You have given reasons for your opinion and could be agrued for and against. I used Hogan mainly for the purpose of sometimes to gain yardage you have to give yardage. Even as hard as it would be to cut Hogan loose (Be like loosing Robbie to another team, it would hurt). But in a cut throat world of wheeling and dealing with other clubs, an offer must applease them, so its a win win. But we are desperate for 2 A grade Mids. If Clark was fully fit and firing, Dawes was up and about, Watts drifting in and out of the forward line, and Howe wreaking havoc, Hogan could be covered. Fyfe in the midfield would be a bonus. A much needed quality mid. While I believe Hogan is a keeper, I put this thread out there, to see what lengths some were prepared to offer to get ready made midfielders. I took off my Demon cap, and thought through a deal that would get us some decent A grade Mids. If I put my demon hat back on, I;d throw Sylvia + Watts at freo for Fyfe. Again If Fyfe was one of a few options, maybe it isnt Fyfe Maybe JP Kennedy (Swans). I think I know what Freo would say about Watts and Sylvia. Some think just because someone is out of contract or Free agent, its throw a few $$ and add in a player or 2 (that struggle in a poor team), its a done deal. If that fails to get across the line, throw in a low pick. My opening post, my job was to get 2 A Grade mids, I was waiting to someone to say cut Clark, so we keep Hogan The whole point of the thread, is who would have the nerve to make the hard descisions, and who would come up with a workable deal, so we ended up with 2 A Grade Mids. We have tried the developing young mids, it hasnt solved the problem, so the onus now was grab 2 for 2014. To get a A Grader, another club is going to target our gun players (not too many atm). So wrangle a deal, that isnt unfair, and it fills our needs /weakness. Perhaps someone might fluke a trade that does happen. -

I thought you'd know better Rhino Juddy wanted to come to his spiritual home, but Mrs Judd smelt the greenbacks, and his fate was sealed -
And so he should be afraid, very afraid. Neeld I hear formatted his hard drive to make room for all the contested stats etc.

Prestia is only 20. And a dees supporter, the door is open if he wants to join the party. We need seasoned mids. My opening post is meant to show how hard it is doing to be to entice top players to the club. We need to offer up someone of quality to improve our midfield. We don't have a heap of cash to throw around. A couple of top Mids we will be back in the game. -
Put yourself in the hot seat for 2 weeks. Your agenda is to secure 2 topline mids. The coach has told you to get him 2 A grade Mids, or you're unemployed. After ringing every club in the country, the only names on our list that have been mentioned by the other clubsare N.Jones J.Howe J.Frawley J.Watts C.Sylvia and J.Hogan My response N.Jones J.Howe J.Hogan are off the table. I meet with Peter Jackson and he tells me, we can afford only ONE topline Mid due to our fiancial position. Getting 2 you will have to work out with our draft picks and trades. Frawley, Watts and Sylvia all mentioned but you couldnt get a fair return (deal) for the club. after much debate and to and fro'ing its narrowed down to 2 clubs that have come close to expections I have targeted Daisy Thomas and Nathan Fyfe,Freo and the Filth are the only 2 left that have come close to playing ball. Clark has played the last 6 games and was back to his 2012 form, prior to the foot injury. Dawes has been more than servicable Watts (still a tad soft) is holding down a wing, and drifting forward and kicking a few goals, same with Howe. Fitzpatrick has been pinch hitting in the ruck and providing a contest, His skill and pace is a level above VFL, And is on the verge on being more than serviceable in the AFL. Hogan is clearly the best young forward in a red and blue jumper since the OX. Has been starring with Casey. Gawn had taken over from Jamar, Jamars' form has dropped away. handy tap ruck but struggling around the ground Spencer is ok, but NQR. Taking all the above into consideration. This is how it played out. After much gut wrenching and soul searching would you do the deal.?? (with much regret Hoges heads back home) 1st round pick + 3rd round pick + Dunn to the filth in return we get Daisy Thomas + their 2nd round pick Freo get Hogan and our last round pick. for Fyfe and Hananth The 2014 team now looks like this (ideally would kick out Dawes for Hogan in a heatbeat) but.... it wasnt to be. After a tough job new players = Thomas, Fyfe, Hananth Backs Jetta Frawley Garland Hback Grimes McDonald Trengove Center Watts Fyfe Howe HFoward Thomas Dawes Sylvia Foward Blease Clark Hananth Rucks Gawn N.Jones Viney Inter Fitzpatrick Terlich M.Jones Evans Emg Toumpas Strauss Sellar Would you do it? Remembering every club wants a win with trades and deals. You arent any different. You think you'd get a Dangerfield for a Watts or Sylvia? Maybe you'd package 2 players for a A Grade Mid. I went for Thomas afaik has yet to re-sign. Fyfe wouldnt be going anywhere, but throw up a Hogan, who knows. Now before I get accused of running into Viney and suffering head injuries,Not for one minute am I suggesting offloading Hogan. But we havent got a lot to offer, and we lack mids. To get someone of quality, and the way we are playing,to get A graders someone of quality has to be offered. Would you be prepared to give up a young gun for a A grader? What deals or players would you be prepared to sacrifice?

The problem and the solution as largely detailed by P Jackson
DeeVoted replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
First things first I say! Restructing can wait. Get a bloody boot studder, be stuffed if I;d be cleaning my boots on that salary, I might chip a nail or 2. A few might be out on their ear, and looking for work. -
Want something to chew over, try this. 2011 Round 7 Vs Adelaide. MFC won x 90pts Players that played that day and are still on the list are as follows Bail Davey Dunne Frawley Garland Grimes Jamar Jones Sylvia Tapscott Trengove Watts Departed from this game are.... Bartram Bate Green Gysberts Jurrah Maric Moloney Petterd Warnock Wonaemirri MFC had 90 less games played as opposed to Adelaide the ave age of both teams were that close it isnt worth considering. Now select the players that have departed and I roughly get 3 worthwhile, the others were spinning their wheels. Add the players we have gained since this round. Dont forget to factor in where were are today compared to Adelaide And add in we had a 15 goal win. Then workout how we get beaten by 10 goals by Gold Coast. I cant, If you can call Peter Jackson. MFC

Back on topic. I am warming to the idea of getting Eade as coach, IF the board decides Neeld isnt our man. McLardy jumped on board to help Stynes, kinda got railroaded into the position. Who then replaces him? Freeman? Is he our man, would he be in it for the long haul, or just serve a term like all before him and depart? We need someone not scared to put a 'rocket' up some when its needed, stand up for the club and be our outspoken figurehead. Apply within.......

Matt Jones - Evaluate his first 7 games
DeeVoted replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
No complaints with Matty Jones, doing very well, better than most of his mates out there. He has a go. But its his 1st season, next year, they'll try to turn into a running back pocket. He'll be howled down as a next biggest spud. (sorry sarcasm) When drafted I shook my head, as Jack Hannath went west. Both would have been ideal, But M.Jones has been a decent pickup. -
Funny thing about what you say. While watching training I thought the same. Less running, and more ball work, man on man. end to end sprints and kicks along with handballs. Basic roots stuff. But who am I? The experts are running the show, I figured its all about getting miles into their legs. But also noted, our skills at times were woeful. Again, I trusted the experts know what they are doing. I even hinted to Todd Viney, while having a casual chat, it would be good to see, a match sim between the players, Mitch Clark on Frawley would be good to see,and sharpen both on them up. He gave me a look, kinda like, hmmm why didnt I think of that.
-
Dont get me started on that. What a farce, yeah it was brought in as a clash strip. What a load of codswallop that is. Its an away strip. Most times its not required, the AFL wants every team to be in white dominated, except the exclusive teams, that refused, and stood up and told them to shove it. The newer clubs are allowed to have red, funny how that clashes with most of the foundation clubs. ie Gold Coast could have been Green and Gold. No clash there. Another farce, to add the the rules commitee. And dont get me started on them either.

I agree on all your points. How many times over the years have we all been begging for a McGuire type Pres. I mean no disprect to past Presidents over the last 12 years, (I wont include Big Jim), but none have been on the front foot, none have ravaged the media, or anyone else that takes pot shots at us. And some have made some woeful descisions. I have been 'banging' on for many many years, we get a leg up, and the future begins to look brighter, only for the next board, to start all over again. and we end back down the creek where we just came from. Its akin to wiping the player list, and starting with rookies. We need something in place, for when the President, gets voted out, or the boot, that there is someone in the wings with experience and knowhow and put the ship back on the right path. Not start over over again, and steer us further into the mire. What we need are some tough nuts, that pull no punches. Show the football world we wont be pushed around. I used an example in my opening post. we need to dig our heels in , in regards to the 'G" if we demanded and got that, the footy world would suddenly realise we mean business. The MFC have some very smart business people to call on, that doesnt mean they make great footy admins, but it staggers me, how things always get so bad, the chat begins, the end of the MFC as we know it, if again on the verge of collapse. When I did the topic. I thought of a better word to use instead on 'Devil" its a 4 letter word that begins with a "C" if i used that. I wouldnt be posting for awhile. We need to grow a pair and fast. The board and the Footy dept go hand in hand, one fails, so does the other. Right now we need the players to be flying the flag. I hope Peter Jackson, gets to the root of the problem, because everyone else is guessing.and pointing every which way on who to blame. If only we could clone Jim Cardwell and Norm Smith, I could rest easy. Until someone steps up to the plate, and gets some respect back for this club. I am in for a lot more restless nights. Its not looking real good for Neeld to hold his position, but again, whats Neil Craig doing? He should be into this up to his neck in all of this. He has the experience, and the resources. Right now I'm holding Neeld accounable, but he isnt on his pat malone. It runs deeper, and if we had the tough types at the helm we wouldnt be where we are. Behind every good general there is a good woman, McLardy might not be the perfect general, but the next in line, shouldnt let him to left out to dry, where is his support and guideance to make the the tough calls, and inspire him to stand up and fight? We got rolled over again this year. its been going on since 1965. Whimpy club, If he hasnt got what it takes, then ........ next! They better be prepared to tough it out and get on the front foot, and not only talk tough, but get results. This footy club has lost ground, I doubt we will ever get most of it back.
-
You could say 'we' (MFC supporters) are partly to blame for this. The Demons somewhere in the past was shortened to the "Dees' from Demons. Like Jonno = Johnson. It caught on. That doesnt mean the club should drop the "Demons" too. Its our nickname, and a damn good one. Thnx, I should paint in its face with red, he is feeling a bit embrassed with our situation.
-
As the title states, we need some strong leadership from board level. Whoever that may be, someone that demands and gets respect, stands up for the MFC and isnt backwards in coming forward. Someone ruthless when needed, fair handed and can get everyone onboard. The playing list is going to be another long term project, my guess another 3 years before we have a group that should be in or around playing finals, and stay there. I was conned into thinking back in 2009, we had the best young list in the country. My, my, hasnt that been ripped apart. So while we awaite once more for the rebuild, In the meantime some of the things that can be put in place while we wait. I hope Peter Jackson hangs around for 3 years and sorts out this joint out once and for all. Then pray we dont slip backwards when he leaves. He acknownledged we have an inexperienced board and player list. (we all knew that, what we dont know, is how bad the situation really is.) While he puts the building blocks in place............ 1: We demand we can use the MCG to use for training once a week, It used to be our home ground. On paper it still is, but thats where it ends. We are getting muscled out slowly. 2hrs isnt much too ask per week. We need to pressure the MCC, but that is currently lead by an Ex Carlton person. Its time we stood up and start demanding we want to use what used to known as OUR ground. It wont happen overnight, we have lost the right to demand anything. But thats a start. We need someone at the top to be strong and go into bat for us. And put a stop to any thought we get muscled out from OUR home. 2: We also stop treating Casey FC as 2nd rate citizens, we entered a long term project, be it right or wrong. We give them total support, and not some 1/2 arsed attempt with the allifiation. That means we supply players and coaches and all techincal data available for the club all throughout their season right up until their season ends. Kids in and around the area will want to see their 'local' team win. With that we can win over their support and follow the Dees, At the moment it is a joke. On one hand we have players and support staff helping and meeting kids at schools, getting them interested and making then aware of the MFC yet on the other hand, we destroy the good work by crippling Casey by pulling players when they are most needed. Kids and parents will want to go to Casey fields, because they can expect to see a competitive team, and its successful, then the kids, will have bragging rights that their 'local' team is the best. Perhaps then they will be able to keep a decent coach longer than 1 season. Over time, we build a dynasty, a tough hardened team. Our own fortress away from home. When MFC players get dropped back, the group expects a MFC player to perform, anything less, the peer group of Casey, demand better from their MFC counterparts. At the moment a MFC player, plays with Casey, and after 2 good games, and hasnt done much better than before but gets back in the AFL. Right now its too easy to drop back and get promoted without runs on the board. Take Jess Hogan as my example, the kid is starting to rip it up, and has just turned 18. I want him in ASAP,but its time to take a hard stance, and if and only IF, he is killing it in the VFL for 4 weeks on end, then he gets his chance to show he is up for the AFL. Give him more time, that is something we hadnt done in the past, its part of developing a talent. (he has heaps of it). This in for 2 weeks and back out for 2 isnt working. 3: The AFL keeps telling us they are willing to help us. Could someone (anyone) at the AFL explain why on earth we get a home game against an interstate team at the 'G" ?? Then everyone mocks us that there is 2 cats and a dog at the game. FFS, We could accept these to be played at Idiot Statium. Save our Home games at the 'G" against the foundation clubs At least we get more at G. Whether that be more opposition supporters, or not. It still gives us a better gate return. The way they structure it now, its a back handed slap to the face, and leaving us open to other clubs shaking their heads at why we cant pull a crowd, but they could if they could use the 'G" instead of us. What TV station wants to televise these games, we stand a better chance if it were a game against the Tigers etc. I'm open to play the Suns. Giants or Port at Casey, make it a carnival type astomspere, let the locals in for 1/2 price or give out Casey memberships in raffles etc. Anything to get them interested. We need the kids to get interested. 4: I would like also to see in place and afflication with Melb Storm, Victory and netball supporters that get discount rates for being both Storm and MFC paid memberships. Tie all Melbourne related teams, in with the MFC. ie: Some could attend a Storm game, then if they wish, go see and AFL game, for free. They may not barrack for the Dees but if their 2nd team happened to be St.Kilda, St.Kilda were playing Melb, we still are in front, if they had mates with them they pay a guest entrance fee. The clubs wins. Who knows we could end up with more supporting the club. 5: Now the hardest of all. keeping sponsors interested and getting more onboard. The hard sell, its takes a smart CEO and when losing, the task is made even harder. But again, we need the right people with experience in place. We have some talented personal at the club, its not all doom and gloom, we just need to be smarter. Jackson has the task of moving some sideways and some out the door. Hopefully he can refine some skills of the personal that are already there, idenitfy the issues quickly, and the slow build begins. I havent touched on pokies at the Bentleigh club etc. I'm sure jackson will be looking at our assets. I am in for the long haul, I wont give up on my club, not until they close the doors. Money and winning go hand in hand. We arent winning, not even close. I see more begging for handouts, and thats sad. I am looking for positives to put this club back on track, atm I am struggling. But I wont give up on them. I am hoping Jackson by years end, can tell us, its not as bad as it looks, its just a matter, of restructuring a few departments and in the meantime, give the player group as much support as we can. If he finds the whole place and assets as an anchor, and we are in deep carp, then god help us. While there is a pulse, there is life, we aint dead yet. I just wish 2013 would end tomorrow. The above are just food for thought. Jackson has the task of identifying the problems. We cant put the entire blame on McLardy or Neeld, but changes need to happen sooner than later. I hope he enjoys the desk Schwab left him, and he doesnt find the price tag,but with our track record on coverups its probably under a small leon light framed on the wall. My last wish, I am hoping we get updates on his findings and we know exactly where we are,

Neeld Post Match - Platitudes and other nonsense talk
DeeVoted replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
How about Neeld to Casey, and wait for them to plumett to the bottom, and swap him with Welsh for the rest of the year. Then wait for Neeld to cry fowl, or not making the MFC players available. -
I havent had much to say on our 2013 season...up until now. Like many I watched the players go through their paces pre-season. We all agreed they looked fitter, but we were also noting our disposal by foot and hand was below standard. The worst offenders, were pulled up for it. The main goal was running, and giving off to a player running or in a better position. All looked rosy for a better 2013. Easy draw to start off with. We get a few 'cheap' wins, and we build some confidence, and expect the odd blow-out. The wheels on the reality bus got the wobbles during the NAB cup, I wasnt seeing much of an advancement in the skills. But its NAB cup ,right? A bit rusty, the game plan still not being carried out as required. It will improve. *wrong* 1st game Pt.Adelaide, at home (I use the word home ,loosely). we get blown out of the water. Well I went from expecting a decent win, to feeling numb. Then our coach, tells the world HE didnt see that coming. Well ffs Neeld, you are supposed to be on top on these things. It seemed clear to me, you were caught off guard. So were the players. Not acceptable! If that address we got to see live on TV was an indication of putting the fear of 'god' into the players, and having them wanting to run through brick walls. I was left stunned. The tough talk we all heard when appointed coach went out the window in my world. Perhaps behind closed doors, it was fire and brimestone. (doubt this is happening too) At some point, its about getting the players in the right mindset, have them fired up, and willing to tear teams apart, as they are about to run onto the ground. IF they do that, and lose, then it might be a good time, after the lose,to encourage and express to them, they did their best. We know we can do better, and we know we can fix it ... in time. When doing a presser, I like to hear what went wrong, how YOU plan to sort it out. I dont expect to spill your guts so the opposition knows all the nuts and bolts. But hearing the players will be made to train harder until they improve the areas that hurt us the most during the lose, would be a good start. Instead all we get is stats on this and that, and we are young, need more games... blah blah blah Been in this game, well before you were a tinkle in your dads eyes. I dont want to hear the stats from a database. I want your opinion, on what YOU plan to do, and get a feeling you know what you are doing. If you cant inspire me to believe, then I have grave doubts you can do it with the playing group. Until now all we get is the dribble about stats, stats arent the be all and end all of it. I can sit in front of the tele, and spilt out figures from a computer, and sound like its under control. You arent exactly filling anyone with any confidence you are on top of team that is (has) spiralling out of control. I jumped on the reality bus, some didnt, I expected the bus was heading to the station, where the train wreck was and the train gets repaired, and we wont be far from having the trip of a lifetime. Well the bus has run off the road, and passengers bewildered, the driver is not taking the responsiblity and we are in no-mans land The bus driver has jumped into a boat, that doesnt have paddles, and is fast heading down shite creek. I dont like giving coaches the flick mid season, or before he has had a chance to see out their contract, but if I were you I would have a taxi on standy, because the reality bus, aint going nowhere, the train is a worse wreck then ever before. When a coach doesnt take the blame for a lose, but prefers to shove it back on the players. I get really worried. We know the playing list has shortfalls, we grant you that. Being competive is all we ask, then a coach to man up and take some of the blame, Give the supporters some indication you are the right person for the job. Anyone can come in ,talk tough, and slash a team list. We expect players replacing them, will improve that list. So far on all counts you are failing. My footy club is at the lowest ebb I have ever witnessed. If its comes to the crunch. its cya later Mister Neeld. My footy club of 50+ years is a shambles, I dont see you improving it. While I'm here..... Whoever is making the call to kill off any chance of Casey having their best chance of winning a final (flag) could you please put an end to this crap as well. The foundation of a strong club is build on the lower league, getting players to gell and have that sense of achievement, sharing the glories of playing together (bonding) Its damaging to Casey and any chance of growing a supporter base,as everyone likes a winner. We need all the support we can muster, or we wont have a club. Right now I dont care who Jackson gets rid of, I want to see results, and on off the field. And I could go on. Just had a gutful right now.

I thought now is a good time as any for an update on the DT Demonland Legends League. League Ave = 1827 League Ranking = 6117 Currently 3 teams undefeated after 4 Rounds: Lord Travis / Kervo's Kaos / Darkhorse 4 teams, as yet to open their account, perhaps struggling with game plans etc. Have no evidence of tanking as yet. Would like to hear how the other 2 leagues are travelling, if anyone from the can give us an update for the 'All Stars' and 'Rookie' Leagues. Melbourne Support Teams currently on top, holding a slender lead from Wet Toast. -
The Barassi leagues etc were dropped, as DL7 forgot to grab the scores from last year, unfortunately for all of us hoping for a 3 tier league. I had 3 leagues reserved if the concept were to continue, but as we have been struggling to fill one league I cancelled them. We have just one SC league, and it has now been filled. Pehaps Demonland other SC league hasnt been filled yet, I suggest you check the other SC thread.

One post left, who will be the lucky last? The SC promotion / demotion concept went out the window, we are struggling to fill one league this year.
