2013 Dream Team : Legends + All Stars Leagues
DeeVoted replied to DeeVoted's topic in Melbourne Demons
The last update is after rnd 19, we get to see the final 8 for all 3 leagues. Then in just a few more weeks we find out who takes home the bacon for 2013. Good luck to all those in all 3 leagues that will be playing finals. If you finish in your leagues top 4, its a safe bet you will be playing in the Legends League in 2014. The remaining teams with the highest total points will make up the remainder of the Legends league, until all 18 positions are filled. After that its a raffle for the All Stars league. Depending on returning coaches and newcomers more Leagues can started. From 2014 onwards a promotion / demotion system will be used. (total season points will not be used) More info next year once all the info is received. -
I smell a rat. The last thing we need is division amongst the ranks. We (Jackson or AFL) or whoever need to get this right,we dont have many chances left. Why do I feel Stockdale is Kennetts key to sneaking in through the back door. Can we just select someone that bleeds red and blue, doesnt want us to relocate or give away any more homes games, then gets everyone pulling in the same direction, wipe the debt, and stand up for our club. Is all that asking too much!?? Anyone that has stated in the past they we should be located anywhere but Victoria, can go and get knotted (jeff). I'll include his offsider Stockdale as not wanted.

Seriously, Name ALL of the 37 tall Forwards on our list then. I agree on the 1 consistent mid.

Let all do 'Chip' a favour. He'll have less sleepless nights knowing Hogan and Boyd are on his side. I'm all for going MIDS MIds and mids, but Boyd is too good to pass on, IF he is available. Better still Boyd can have the luxury of biding his time with Casey for the better part of the year. As much as we drool over Hogan not being able to front up this year, Boyd be a better player for it in the long term as Hogan is doing now. We wonder why our delevopment is shite, its because we are forced into 1st year players being thrown to the wolves. Hogan and Boyd are 2 that can handle playing men, but even they need time to settle in. Other point IF we are in a position to grab Boyd,we do it, but he plays for Casey, then should Clark, Watts ,Dawes or Hogan go down, he comes in off the bench, we ease him into it. We would also have the luxury of rotating our gun forwards off the bench, therefore keeping them fresher. It would be a defenders nightmare trying to keep all under control. add in the factor they would 'blow up' trying to keep running with them. Toumpas and Viney have had a year to get a feel for it, so this will help us in 2014. Trades and PSD or all the remaining picks, we go all out for the best mids on the table. You hear other clubs starting to oppose us getting a PP, perhaps we wont get one, they know our list isnt as bad as it seems. We grab Boyd, and snag a quality mid or 2 or 3, its game on.

2013 Dream Team : Legends + All Stars Leagues
DeeVoted replied to DeeVoted's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mega_Watts took out the Demonland DT Legends GF last year. And looks to be right up there again. 23,346 is on track to be selected for a crack at the experts next year. I'll know more once I have all the data from all 3 leagues at seasons end. This just backs up whatever league you are in this year wasnt any reflection on what league you are playing in atm. -
Therapy is just a phone call away

You can you know Sleep on this. Have the banner with the legends of the past. Then the banner drops down after 60 secs. to then display the New. or it morphs into a banner with the new. We get the best of both. It keeps repeating at intervals

2013 Dream Team : Legends + All Stars Leagues
DeeVoted replied to DeeVoted's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for the Rookie League update, still havent heard from the All Stars. Experienced cousins? All 3 leagues were filled at random. All on equal footing?. The test begins next year, when the leagues all have coaches on an even level based on this year. If you think its tough now, I expect it to be even tougher next year. -
2013 Dream Team : Legends + All Stars Leagues
DeeVoted replied to DeeVoted's topic in Melbourne Demons
Once I have complied all the coaches 'Total Points' scored for the whole year, from ALL 3 leagues, then I will arrange all the teams into their leagues based only on the Total Points. (Amounts of wins, or ladder positions or leagues will not have any bearing). ie If you score a total of 70,000 points for the whole year, it would be a safe bet, you'll be in the Legends league. From there I will work down until that league is full, then start filling the All Stars League, then the next leagues. I have a countback in place for working out teams that finish with the same amount of points. Hope that clears it up for you. Until I get confirmations of all the current coaches from all 3 leagues, its a bit hit and miss who will be returning in 2014. There will be some that drop out, and I expect a few new faces for 2014. A couple missed out getting into any of the current 3 leagues. Once a league or leagues are filled, thats it. get in early now and I can get Leagues organised at seasons end for next year. If anyone doesnt see confirmed next to their team name, then I require them to do so. If I need to PM or ID anyone, and I cant, then some may miss out for 2014. To ensure you dont miss an invite for 2014, I recommend to check the opening post. These details are in the opening post in this thread. -
You can try to forget the past, but you cant delete the past. So I would retain Norm and perhaps add Checker Hughers on the outer sides. (Checker gave us the Demons). Stynes in the middle, Robbie, Barass. Then add in current players, only because what we have going around havent been much to rave about. Jones, Clark and a few others mentioned above, we are a bit thin for nominations that deserve it atm.

Love ya work stuie. I always loved our old demon from the 60's - 70's. My browser is showing the blue as more black than blue. Having said that, I'm prepared to see out our current emblem for the time being. That doesnt mean something better can't be done along the lines of our current one. So see what you can do modifying what we have now. yes it does look busy, and it would be nice to have a demon reference in there. See what you can come up with using a combo of both? When it comes down to it, i wouldnt care if it was a red and blue flag with MFC on it. I want wins on the board, my clock is ticking, I cant afford rebuilds upon rebuilds for much longer.
-
The background looks sensational. Add in one borderline player, someone needs to make way for next year. OUT = ?? In = Hoges
-
Thanks for the reports guys. I heard the players will be now allowed to play with a bit more freedom, instead of being robots. I always thought that their natural game was being stifled, and were more worried about structures etc. If only we had Mitch up forward, and we also have a few important 'outs' or I;d be confident of a win. What we have dished up thus far I'll be happy with a dogged fighting lose. I'm hoping for a 3 goal win. Beware saints.

2013 Dream Team : Legends + All Stars Leagues
DeeVoted replied to DeeVoted's topic in Melbourne Demons
Demonland 'Legends League' progessive report up to Round 12. One more week of the dreaded bye rounds to go. Controversy struck the league in round 8. Team 'Tenacious' previously without a win on the board upstaged the more fancied 'Mavericks' Saved his best score to date against me (a payback for 2012 is my guess) At the after match presser Mavericks coach was quoted as saying 'We didnt see that coming" To prove that was no fluke team Tenacious backed it up with another win the following week. There isnt much between the top eight, (see leaders below) Previously undefeated Kervo's Kaos suffering their 1st lose for the year in round 12 (blame the bye?) The Niners and Good Times Grimes are yet to open their accounts, Good Times Grimes has been collecting more donuts than the Mister Donut van parked opposite gate 3 at the 'G' Not sure about The Niners, might be finding the comp a bit tough. The Legends are averaging 1816 pts per week and currently ranked 7064 of 21877 teams overall. The best 'Highest Weekly' score up until round 12 goes to 'Up The Guts' with a score of 2270 in Round 7 There are more than a handful in this league that are playing for 'sheep stations' very competitive league this one. The top eight teams as they stand up to round 12. AVG. TOTAL LEAGUE TEAM NAME RND PER ROUND POINTS POINTS 1. Toumpas' Souvalaki 12 2,014.75 24,177 36 2. Kervo's Kaos 12 1,955.67 23,468 36 3. Jack Attack 12 1,955.08 23,461 28 4. Armpits United 12 1,949.83 23,398 32 5. Hand Egg FC 12 1,948.08 23,377 28 6. Lord Travis 12 1,940.00 23,280 28 7. Darkhorse 12 1,928.92 23,147 28 8. Up the Guts 12 1,927.25 23,127 32 ** The TOTAL SEASON POINTS will be used to determine the RANKINGS from all 3 Leagues for 2014. ** Even though a bit off the outright DT leaders pace, The 'Legends' league are doing their bit to keep the MFC supported teams ahead of all the other teams overall in DT. Team Supported Ladder .... Melbourne still leads the way AVE = 1655.72 just slightly ahead of the Crows in 2nd place AVE = 1648.56. More reports / input from the 2 other leagues welcomed. Next update will be round 18. -
Sign Jesse Hogan up for 5 years (Suns and Jack Martin)

Our luck he would have a set of twins and then triplets. All GIRLS. -
Another name has come forward, he might be worth a look at. He has the runs on the board, fierceless, brave, loyal. Ex WW1 ace,so we know he can perform under duress. he would take it on for peanuts. He doesnt say much, but gets the job done.

Something isnt right here.... Our KP indicators are showing your excitement levels are well down. Your failure to tackle falling hope of wins is on the up Possession of seating remains a concern KPIs of angst and depression heading off the scale. A few weeks @ casey for you my lad. -
Extending the salary cap is like opening another credit card to pay off the 1st credit cards debt. We;ll end up further down the creek. 1st goal is too be viable, and halt our current debt, or it will blow out to another 5 million. If we can stop and improve the debt for a low profit, then the extension of our cap would work to our favour. Until then, the noose only tightens. From reports, we couldnt afford a payout. Yet we accept to pay more $$ to players?

Team A ave age 23yrs Total games Played 999 Team B ave Age 24yrs Total Games played 1500 Team B has overall played more games and slightly older, So therefore Team B expected to win WRONG! Team A = Played finals. missed on a GF on the last kick of the day Team B cant get a kick to save themselves The 2 Hawthorn teams that played both Team A + B had approx the same ave age and games played in both games. (their Ave 26yrs 2600 games in total) I never bought that line either from Bailey or now Neeld. Nor from anyone else. If the TALENT is there, is doesnt matter about age or games, its about how GOOD the list is. or To take another stance, how good the coach is, and gets the most out of what he has. I'd back Team A to belt the hell out of Team B,every day of the week, even though Team B has played more games and is slightly older. Simple fact is = Talent Yes Team A = 1987 coached by Northey, it was younger played less games. Team B last week, coached by Neeld. Right now we could put a line through about 8 players that play each week, or are in and out, as NOT up to it. Could a new coach get Team B to beat Team A, I doubt it. A new coach may get Team B to play slightly better, thats about it. Either Neeld or a new coach will cut the list further. Simple fact is we have too many NQR. If Neeld has lost the confidence of the players and the board, his days are up. If not we hang tough, and get more players to improve what we have and move out the NQR. There is only one coach I know that could get this group to punch above its weight, but as fate would have it he isnt alive.

Having read all the posts thus far, most of the posters have made some good points. I;ll back it up with.... First of all Eddie can stick his extended salary cap idea, we dont need him helping dig our hole deeper than it is. All this money has to made / paid from somewhere, we can't manage it as it is. We need to get our house in order, and not be spending thrifts, thats the whole probelm. Money Management from within. Hopefully PJ gets us back on track. Next .. I'm still dark on getting the fine on the tanking outcome, the AFL didnt help us. they must have known it would cripple us. yet they say they are willing to do whatever they can to help us out. humbug If they want to help, then our HOME games need to be played against the foundation clubs, where we can expect to draw 30-50,000 to our home games. That WOULD help. but will they? I doubt it, They are all talk. I can see us getting booted off the 'G' not because we are playing crap footy atm.Because we get home games against the Gold Coast. Port , GWS etc. Non crowd drawing games.Once we lose our ground, thats it, its gone. If we cant manage our income, we will be selling home games to the NT or any other place on planet earth. Bandage fixes for poor investments, shocking use of our funds. I've had enough handouts, either from the supporters or AFL, or anyone else for that matter, Its time we got our house in order, and prove we can exist, that will be only achieved by good business management. The last decade and a bit has proven 2 things, we are great at blowing money, and not making the most of our top draft picks. If we get a priority pick, the best our bet would be to throw it at another club and hope to land a margue player (A grade Mid) All the above is compounded by our woeful performances, non competitive, uninspiring games. Homes game at Casey, has some merit against likes of St.Kilda (close to local for most of their supporters) GWS, Gold Coast etc.give the Casey region a 1/2 decent game to attend. But then does this leave the door open further, for an opening to lose the 'G' ? Remembering the 'G' is the best crowd pulling ground in the national. We can make bucket loads if we have home games against decent Vic Teams. When the tide turns, we begin our climb, we can pack it as good as anyone. But if we give it up, we'll be packing out Eithad and complaining we couldnt get in to see the game. We are at the crossroads. I hope the reality bus takes the correct road.

Possible it might be a Mark, but its not even close to Neeld. Neeld would be quoting STATS Frawley in his 1st 5 yrs only managed 39 clearances of which 10 were effective, 5 rebounds 10 hitouts and handballed 30 times, 20 to the opposition. Wheres Gilles has 80% efficenticy mainly because I refuse to play him much,so his stats are better. How I am doing?

Most on here will remember the 10year rule. 10 Years at one club and they were free to go to the highest bidder. Nth.Melbourne threw truckloads at targeted players when Barassi was coach, to build a team to win a flag, and they did. When FA was announced I feared it was happening all over again, but this time a club got compensated for their lose. And there is talk of taking away compensation if clubs lose a player through FA. If clubs dont get compensated the weak clubs will be milked dry. FA is on paper a two way street, players not getting games, can try their luck elsewhere, BUT why arent they getting a game?, most times, its because their club have better players above that player,he can choose to go and play for a club of his choice, and it doesnt mean he will improve that clubs player list. IF a club has an abundance of ruckmen, and they need a small, seems fair to trade a ruck for a small, or let a ruckmen go in a FA so he has more chance of making it in AFL with another club. That is a win for club and player. The way this is panning out, whats the point of having a priority pick, when the player spends his 1st 8 yrs honing his skills, and game experience, the club does the hard yards, only to see a required player walk to another club. The weak clubs havent the cash flow to match offers from the wealthy clubs. Some may argue the weaker clubs have more room to move in their salary cap, therefore can invite A grade players to come to them, but whats the point if they cant win a game? The only players they will entice are players past their best, and looking for top dollar to see out their playing days. They may fluke getting an A grader, once in awhile, but to be competitive a club needs more than a handful of decent players,if they keep losing some of their best players every time a player gets 8 yrs up. they are going around in circles, and going nowhere fast. Now taking our situation into account, who would blame a player wanting out, who wants to play every week and get smashed. Club loyality died many years ago. the only thing stopping them leaving, are the friends they made, a good repore with coaches and helping the club climb the ladder and if success is achieved, the reward is more forfilling. Back to the real world, if they get a better offer elsewhere to play for a team with more success. Why stay? Having said all that, think back a few years. Aaron Davey was reported in the paper,as signed sealed and almost delivered to the Bummers. I ask where is he playing today? The point being most times its media beatup to sell papers, until its announced offically from either club or player its business as usual. If we do lose a couple of our good players, it isnt the end of the world. If they dont want to be there, cya later. The onus is on the club to keep our best signed up and happy,if they cant do that, whats the whole point of it all.
