Is this 3 out of 3 times we've played north in tasmania and lost by a kick?

Watching live, I thought May was great.
The second half would have been tough for any defender and wasnt as good as his first, but overall his positioning, one percenters and general defensive nous was fantastic. A-grade.
At the risk of going off too early, for the first time, I'm genuinely excited to have him.
We haven't had a genuine A-grade key stopper since, well....Sean Wight? Maybe Ingerson at a stretch??

As a Brisbanite, I don't get to see many games live. What really struck me today at the game was that a major factor in Oliver and Viney's disposal issues is the gameplan itself.
They are brilliant at winning the ball, but when they win it, all the other dees players (as we and every other team knows) are in at the contest, so there's no one to go to. And this results in them either disposing of the ball to another player (also in at the contest) who is already under pressure, a random kick or handball to no one (which the lions players positioned outside the contest are generally first to), or an overly ambitious kick to a Dee downfield which doesnt work out.
Maybe I'm slow in working this out, but it really stuck out to me watching it live.
I'm kind of relieved. Their poor disposal is less of a skill issue per se than not having any options under the gameplan.
Overall, our ills are still overwhelmingly gameplan rather than personnel related. Yes, bring in some run and pressure forwards (they dont have to be stars), but I wouldnt be trading any of our best midfielders.

It's stupid play by May.
You can't deny he moves towards berry to make contact.
Yes, he wouldn't be suspend if he played for collingwood or essendon. Yes, he wouldn't be suspended if his name was dangerfield or selwood. And yes, it's horribly inconsistent, and will undoubtedly be inconsistent with other decisions from that moron christian this year.
But May stupidly put himself in the position to be judged by an inconsistent system.
Control what you can control.
It was dumb. I hope someone is privately tearing strips off him, especially if he is on $900k a year. It was a practice game ffs!

I genuinely believe hogan = neale.
We do underestimate neale a bit imo.

The Age article has us, hypothetically, getting May, KK and Pick 23 for Hogan.
It's not a sexy deal by any means, but we address two needs - a key back and outside run - while still potentially maintaining a very potent forward line, while also holding on to our first round picks for the next few years that we can use for further moves over the coming seasons.
It's a good outcome, although I can understand why people may see this as unders to begin with.
Great post. My only lingering doubt is what happens if Tmac or Weid (or both) go down for an extended period. We look a tall short. Although it seems like we'll also have a resting Gawn/Preuss down there.

So effectively looks like Hogan for May, KK & pick 23.
It looks a tad unders, but that doesn't seem to bother us provided we get what we want.
Would be great if we also got say pick 29 from GC (even in exchange for our 46 or 54).

Mahoney could do the deal, shake Bells hands and say "Belly, go f_$k yourself"
I was thinking more like the end of Django Unchained, where Christoph Waltz refuses to shake Leonardo Dicaprio's hand, and a murderous spree ensues.

Quite a big development that no one is talking about - we want 5, 23 AND 30.
Which would help us in filling the vacant spots on our list.
This article also seems far more credible than anything on foxsports or foxfooty.

Ricky Nixon stating on Twitter that Jesse is damaged goods and Freo have made 110% right call and wont be back....... but won’t say why. AFL industry loves rumours and innuendo.
How on earth can Ricky still get a gig in the media?

What would people think of this scenario (in the spirit of getting the deal done):
Brisbane trade Pick 5 to us & 32 to Fremantle
Fremantle trade Lachie Neale to Brisbane & Pick 23 to us
We trade Hogan to Fremantle & Pick 46 to Brisbane
Means Brisbane loose Picks 5 & 32 but get Neale & Pick 46
Fremantle loose Neale & Pick 23 but get Hogan & Pick 32
We loose Hogan & Pick 46 but gain Picks 5 & 23.
Fremantle can then trade Picks 11 & 49 to GWS for Lobb & Pick 25.
We trade Pick 5 & future 3rd Round Pick to Gold Coast for May & KK.
Finally knowing we have picks 54, 62 & 65 up out sleeve to match any bids from 30+ for Bedford, we package picks 23 & 36 to Richmond for Pick 17 & a late pick.
Net Gains
OUT: Hogan, Tyson, Kent, Pick 36, 46 & future 3rd Round Pick
IN: May, KK, Preuss, Pick 17, Pick 62, Pick 65
That reads ok to me.
I'd be happy enough, provided we also got pick 24 or 29 with May.

BTW, fresh intel. He's gone.
When CIP speaks, we should listen.
Personally I'm devastated. Don't want him to go.

Where is all of this 'he is definitely going at the end of 2019' coming from?
It seems to have been suggested and then become gospel in the space of 12 hours.

Also said to the same mate after he said Collingwood played their GF last night.
"We've been playing GFs for a month."Even last week, the 4th quarter probably should have been a chance to ease up and rest players. But when we let the hawks back into it, we had to fight it out.

There's no doubt today put a bit of a dent in the season.
But there's also no doubt that the season was a raging success.
Making finals was a tick. Winning two was huge. We were like a deer in the headlights today, but in the first two finals, we were the exact opposite in terms of how we stood up to the pressure (although we were a bit fumbly at times).
As someone said in the post match thread, one of the problems today was that our finals series started in round 22 due to some poor losses earlier in the season. There was always a risk 4 brutal games was going to take its toll.
Some are saying we're not a top 4 team. I genuinely think we're somewhere between 4th and 6th. But we're a step off top 3, and probably 2 steps off top 2.
A positive from today is that our deficencies are still evident. Even a close loss today may have masked that.
If its not too late, up our offer to Gaff, and risk losing a petracca in the future.

“If Melbourne play like that next week, they’ll get beaten by 12 goals"
We only lost by 11 goals. Take that kingy!

Our finals campaign started in Round 21 and we won four on the trot. Dropping games we should have won cost us a top four spot and a more viable finals campaign. We burned out bad on this difficult road trip. Too big an ask.
Spot on.

Buckenara: Dees List Overrated
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
This.
He definitely said we had one of the best lists after the trade period last year (while many dees supporters were acutely aware of the holes in the list he's now pointing out). He was one of the very people overrating the list!
