  1. It's nice to see the footy club do that.
  2. Definitely...
  3. I haven't received mine, but I got my membership after the start of the season - all those great performances spurred me into getting one
  4. I thought that decision was for something else - maybe a push in the contest paid against Miller? Not sure.
  5. Agree to disagree then =)
  6. I thought we had one guy at 200cm? Anyhow that's totally irrelevant I totally agree with your point. I made a thread mentioning this, and also posted up the height of the various rucks for each team. I was pretty surprised we didn't rookie a tall kid, as then we're not giving up our draft picks on what seems to be a risky proposition - and many rucks have entered AFL via the rookie list anyhow, probably as they take a while to develop.
  7. I don't agree - I thought recruiting Ellis was a mistake at the time. RE: Aaron Rogers, I guess these things happen. Sydney picked him up so I assume it wasn't just MFC that saw something in him.
  8. You're probably going to find constant disagreements here then, if to you Ash's post was an 'attack'.
  9. Great odds for a two horse race!
  10. That's a ridiculous assumption, particularly as I'm not complaining about the Cats getting Hawkins. I'm simply using Hawkins as an example (since it's the most topical atm...I'm sure there are many others) to illustrate the inequality of the soon-to-be old system. I'd be saying exactly the same thing if Melbourne picked up the new Judd for a third rounder or whatever - that it was unfair. F/S Clubs still get an advantage in picking up great young talent if they've got a connection to that footy club, but will now have to pay something near market value. It's still not entirely 'fair', but it's much improved and I like the new system.
  11. Ditto. Dunn should only get better with experience at AFL level, so the quicker we can get games into him the better.
  12. Only Carroll is a key backman - and I guess Holland, who is not good enough to get a regular game and is on his last legs. Rivers and Bizz are 'third tall' style flankers, and unfortunately I don't think Ferg is ever going to be a key back either. He's never really filled out and while courageous, doesn't have the strength. I haven't seen much of Warnock so I'll take your word on him as a key defender, but he's not there yet. With Frawley injured and Miller playing forward PJ has been given game time in the backline. I think that's a decent move, because - while I agree he's probably been a forward historically - he's not going to be an AFL-level ruck IMHO.
  13. I don't see how Geelong scoring Hawkins with a low draft pick was fair.
  14. I guess it's only a 16-horse race...
  15. I'm guessing White can no longer ruck all day, PJ can't ruck, and Neaves is on the rookie list. Who else is there? Next in line for makeshift rucks were Nicholson and Smith and they're both gone. Holland? We're scraping the bottom of the barrel as is
  16. Interesting idea. The times I've watched Slyvia pretty closely when I'm at games he tends to get a bit lost out there, so playing back might help that side of things.
  17. I'm not saying I agree with it, simply that it's my observation of how ND deals with potential debutants =)
  18. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...5012432,00.html
  19. Some people either don't think about things very clearly, or have a very narrow view on life that means they can't empathise with anyone else. The same sorts of comments are made when people dare to criticise a player or coach etc. eg. I guess it's not that surprising, considering our Prime Minister labels anyone who doesn't share his values 'un-Australian'.
  20. Seems that way, doesn't it? :|
  21. Could be right. PS. Captain Obvious award to RR =)
  22. If Holland's leaving it's probably going to be worth having someone who can fill a similar role, so if PJ can prove himself - even as a 'depth' player - he'll be worth persevering with. We can't delist everyone =)
  23. Yeah it was, I was glad he found a gig elsewhere.
  24. Agreed.
  25. Yep, seems that ND likes to have kids debut in their home state. From memory ND also had guys debut when named in the 18 (presumably so then their friends/family can be told etc without giving anything away?).
