I also don't know who this guy is. That's what I was thinking too.
-
Probably worth it on exposure alone, given all the AFL assistance they'll get.
-
IMO he's had enough shots at goal - if he'd kicked with a decent eff we'd be talking about him differently. If he can fix his kicking issues I think he'll stay in the system beyond this year.
-
Maybe he is, but I haven't seen him play there. He's generally played as the Wheatley-style linkman.
-
I understand it was disappointing. What I don't understand is the massive over-reaction. For people who were optimistic about our future we were suddenly without hope.
-
I don't know why people got so worked up by one game. We were always going to put in some shockers, but it was a shame that it was on QB, after all the hype.
-
:D Getting White wasn't bad either.

Buckley's been Ward-like so far - a quick running back that doesn't use the ball well enough. Should we keep him? If you think he'll become a good user of the ball then he might be worth keeping for his pace, but you've also got to take into account the plethora of other guys who want a running defender role. If you think that his disposal issues are terminal then he should be moved on at the end of the year. I don't think PJ comes out of contract at the end of this year. Back to the drawing board

I can see where you're coming from but that list is pretty speculative. I am more positive about our midfield than most supporters have become in the second half of this season. However, while some of these guys might come on, we'll find others aren't up to scratch. Even taking a pretty positive POV, who are the out-and-out stars there? Scully's not yet in the system but probably looks the most likely. Grimes looks good but I'm not sure he'll be in the class of the elite players of the competition. McKenzie might make the grade but other guys have looked good early on, so I think the jury's still out. I'm not sure Blease has even played a senior VFL game and he was picked in the second round. Strauss has played but and it seems he's more likely to be a running defender. Bennell, Maric and Wona aren't mids yet and I'm not sure they will be. While Wona might have ripped it up in a pre-season game it's hardly something you can put your house on. Every other club is going to have their small defenders/forwards they think will come good, or the second round picks fans are sure will be playing in an elite midfield. Unfortunately not all players end up making it, let alone becoming dominant players. Jamar certainly has more than a year or two left in him. He's only 25 atm (26 later this year). I agree that the jury's out on Meesen and Spencer, and even if Spencer comes good he's probably a fair while away, as you say. I think Martin's over-taken PJ as the 'second ruck' option - he has more potential to add other strings to his bow, while PJ hasn't been able to show enough up forward. I would have been rookie listing at least young ruck each year for many years now. Although the time it takes for young talls to come through is an issue I'd probably continue down this road for now, rather than give up what might be the last of our early picks for some time. If there was a dominant KF putting their hand up for our second pick I'd go that way over an equally-ranked mid (assuming we've already taken the best mid at #1), but I wouldn't do so for a ruck.

As the first female commentator she was always going to provoke the insinuation that any criticism of her is based on gender.
-
Criticism of some players is fine - it depends what Jaded thinks of them It's a moment that was mentioned with the person I was watching it with and I think the Fox commentators may have discussed it. Maybe it could have gone in an existing thread but I don't see that it's so outrageous to discuss it on here.
-
Yeah, so did I. Not really - Cheney, Dunn and Johnson were all there and they're playing
-
I don't know if this was a brilliant strategic move or an impending disaster

High Tower - is a cheater

What makes you say that? Why would a legal win for the NFL and other leagues impact on the AFLPA's move towards free agency? IMO it's an entirely different landscape here, but I'll be interested to see if you're thinking of something that didn't occur to me when I read the article. Regardless, it was an interesting read

Nice to see you using your skills for good Fwiw, this was discussed at the Melbourne Youth Summit. The Dees had someone there who works at Globe and a 'hoodie' was specifically mentioned, so you might find the Club are open to these ideas and/or already have something in the pipeline.

I agree. I don't think the TJ trade was outlandish at all.
-
That's how I read it initially with regards the 21 players, it doesn't make sense any other way. However, this point could be somewhat confused: H_T got it right when he said it was a good post though - it's why I haven't been too concerned or disappointed about our performance. While guys like Brown, Ward, Bizz, Godfrey, TJ, Holland, Neitz, Yze, White, etc. had their faults (particularly late in their career for the better players), they were also mature bodies with an ability to be at least somewhat effective. It was always going to be a huge ask to expect kids to consistently play up to a decent standard.
-
If you did watch it you'd realise that there are male netball commentators, as Trident has said (and they're fine, just like it'd be fine to have a quality female footy commentator IMO).
-
He'll play the Riewoldt - where's our Kosi or Roughead? Unfortunately it seems that at the moment there's no stand-out key forward prospect at the pointy end of the draft.
-
They're redeveloping one of the stands. Anyway, I'd love it if we had a stadium we could fill with Demons supporters.
-
1. I'd rather have two cracks at finding the star from the 2009 draft. 2. I'd rather pick up both of McLean and Sylvia than just one.
-
He's showed this from his very first game versus Essendon.

What is a winning culture? How's a fifth win against a side that's managing their own list going to create a winning culture? Does an extra win make a significant difference to a 'winning culture'? How'd that 'winning culture' work out for us in 2008, after we took five steps towards developing a winning culture the season before? How about Richmond's 'winning culture' this season, on the back of their great run in the second half of 2008?
