Shattered Jack is out. Would have loved to see him go up against the tigers midfield. Well now Toumpas is back so we can see how he will go. Spencer will be dropped form the bench with Jamar back in. Tapscott deserves his place. Maybe he could put a nice big but fair bump on martin or Cotchin.

Joel McDonald isnt on the injury list.

What has happened to Joel McDonald? He was pretty reliable down back last year. Surely he is a better option than Sellar?

Sounds like at training tackling was the number 1 thing. Obviously Dimma ha been watching our sessions.

Just a reminder: Melbourne are bad - R.Connolly
dees189227 replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
However as bad as we have been over these years the fact is we still have played finals before richmond has. We last played finals in 06. Since then we have been pretty crap but richmond havent made September before 06 and there are no guarantees this year. -
As soon as I saw Black on the news tonight I said lets get him as a midfield coach. Brownlow medalist, 3 flags and norm smith plus im assuming all Australian. Fresh out of the game he would be perfect. Imagine what Viney and Toumpas and both Jacks could learn off him. He would be way better then Royal.

Remember back it must have been in 2006 and im pretty sure we just beat hawthorn and the ground announcer said after the game melbourne fans you are on top of the ladder and they showed it up on the score board. I should have really savoured that moment more.

You cant say yet if Dawes is a bad choice. people said the same thing about Mitch last year and until he got injured he was great. Wait until we both have them in the forward line. I have faith in Dawes. We all have seen how good he is.

Some fans may have given up hope, but players haven't Chris Dawes article on the Age website.

Ive noticed Jackson said he is ditching the idea of china and all that connection. Whose idea was that. Was it Schwab or Gardner? I thought we had already ditched it. Judging by the look on his face he seemed to think it was a ridiculous idea.

INTO DARKNESS: THE BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS
dees189227 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
he has a point in one way. Its the players out there who dont chase, man up tackle and kick properly. Maybe he really wants to vent but is holding back. Maybe now he is getting really really sick and tired of these players. By the way how hard must Vineys head be. When he and Murphy clashed heads Murphy went down straight away and obviously stretchered off. Jack just got up and ran off. I wish we had 10 more of him. -
That hit sylvia put on brennan looked like a player who was frustrated and didnt want to be there. I reckon he is looking at 2-3

I feel for Neeld I really do. he must be losing confidence in himself and his ability to coach. I really thought he was the man for us. Im sick of getting in new people, But I fear that more players will walk, players we need because they are sick of losing.
-
Interesting that he said on mmm before the game that he has no personal attachment to the club so any changes he makes he will do. He was also asked if he was offered the position would he take it. Now when he took this on he said he would only fill in and isnt interested in it full lime. Now he seems to have changed his mind because he said he would weigh it up and see but could be interested. Sadly he likes the challenge that is in front of him trying to fix this club. I would have thought it was torture.

We play richmond, freo away hawthorn then collingwood. It could be very ugly the next 4 weeks.

INTO DARKNESS: THE BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS
dees189227 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I went today and just sat there. I just didnt really care. I go to games now hoping not to get beaten by 100 points. This is what a member of this club is turned into. Its not hoping for a win its hoping you dont get thrashed. It was weird looking around after the game. I think supporters were in shock or just dont really care. I will keep going but I just accept losses now. I was more devastated to see the storm get beaten. Its taking a kid called Viney to lead the way in getting the hard ball. Gawn was double teamed but he still ran his guts out and Dawes had the footy kicked on top of his head. It was horrible ball delivery to him. -
Apparently Damo has done an interview with Jackson to be showed on the sunday footy show tomorrow. So if you want to hear what he says and what changes he has made then tune in.

Jared Rivers says he has loved Geelong and says they have a load of talent but also all down to earth Said this on 3aw. Interesting that last sentence. What did the melbourne players get big heads about something else because they certainly couldnt get ahead of themselves. Also said this. Jared Rivers says Melbourne probably haven't helped Jack Watts by playing him in different positions & should play him in 1 spot for 6 weeks So Neeld will wake up tomorrow with someone else having a go at him. This was off big footy form someone who heard the interview Jared Rivers was on SEN prior to the Essendon vs. Geelong game tonight. I highly recommend that all Dees supporters have a listen, and I will endeavor to post a link as soon as it is loaded up. Jared explained how cut up both he and Moloney were after being removed from the leadership group by Neeld upon his entry into the club. He really felt disenchanted that as an older player he was so easily disregarded in place of youth, especially since neither was given an opportunity to prove themselves. He also suggested that Moloney was a great leader at the club, and did a lot of work with the younger players outside training. I don't want to paraphrase any more, but please have a listen if you want a real insight into the club from the perspective of a highly respected senior player. Mark Neeld's decision to demote senior players like Moloney and Rivers was as bad as Bailey's decision to move on Junior. Didnt the players choose the leadership group?

If he didnt understand the game plan why didnt he ask for clarrification
-
Regarding Rivers he was on mmm also but never said anything about Neeld or bagged the club. he was asked why he left melbourne and basically said he'd been at melbourne for 10 years and really didnt enjoy losing and said melbourne offered him a contract and geelong offered him one so he obviously took that. Which you couldnt really blame him for. Then he said the thing he noticed between the 2 clubs during the pre season was at melbourne it was more focused on running and at geelong the footballs were out the whole time doing skills work and drills. His comments surprised me about neeld. Well the younger players are buying into neeld and players like jones are thriving on it and I know he hasnt been in the club for long but Mitch Clarke loves it at melbourne and Dawes decided to join.

What are we expecting from Dawes? Id be happy for him to get through injury free and if we can see some of his 2010-2011 form that would be good. Some nice marks and if he can kick 2 or more goals id be happy.

Has there been another coach in his 2nd year that has had to put up with this much. Imagine Neeldy waking up this morning and hearing the AFL are pushing Roos to coach. He'd be thnking even the CEO of the organisation wont support me. How many more rumours are going around about him that he has to put up with. Roos wont coach melbourne and he shouldnt do if the AFL are pushing him and big money to coach us if his heart isnt in it. I feel sorry for Neeld as a human being. Being criticised by everyone. I get if we were winning things would be different. I really hope we can win this weekend. Look I know Roos would be great but I think he looks at our club and would think its to hard.

Rivers left because he wanted to play finals. His choice not Neelds.

I thought dunn did a great job on judd. Stick him on Ablett and see if he can do the same. Tapscott just went in hard and thats all he knows We have to keep playing the kids. Kent, jones, viney, Turlich and evans grimes is a massive loss. Does Blease come in for him? Why is it that our good players get injured. Why are we cursed. The sad thing is its come to being happy now with getting beaten by 60 points because its not 100. We were never going to beat Carlton. They are a top 8 should be top 4 side. Its like asking the bulldogs to beat collingwood or even Carlton. We arent there yet. I would like to think we could beat the bulldogs and stkilda and I hope to god we win next week.

Footy Flashback - 2000 Qualifying Final
dees189227 replied to DemonWorshipper's topic in Melbourne Demons
How good were bruce and green in that last quarter. I remember when we came back in the final quarter I was sitting next to an old man and he looked at me with a bit of a tear and said we are going to win. That was a brilliant game. It was up there with the 98 finals wins against stkilda and adelaide.
