  1. i agree. We get smashed in disposals most weeks adn you want to drop our fifth highest disposal winner for #29. (Stats from footywire) 2012 Melbourne Demons Disposals Per Game Leaders (Minimum 2 Games Played) Rank Name Games Average 1 Nathan Jones 11 23.55 2 Jack Grimes 10 21.40 3 Jack Watts 9 18.89 4 Daniel Nicholson 3 18.67 5 Cale Morton 8 18.12 29 Ricky Petterd 2 7.00 I think back to how much people used to smash Jones but every year he got slightly better and now he is probably our best midfielder. Works hard both ways which is shown by hand ball recieves but he also wins his own ball. i am sure the club saw this in teh future and I am sure they have a better idea of whether Cale can continue to improve or not as they see them for 40 hours a week compared to our 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon.
  2. Maybe he is injured. It is what supporters use to excuse the clubs golden children. Trengove turned the ball over by foot twice under little pressure. One leading to Didaks first mark. He also fumbled on a wing under little pressure and let siddbottom tackle him when we were away. He did a howler, hopefully Neeld can reduce them but he does work hard up and down the ground. He worked hard after his error to get back defensively adn make numbers. Still had more of a positive impact on the game than numerous players i.e. sylvia, green, beamer, trengove etc
  3. A lot will come down to direct match ups for those last couple of positions i.e. where they think they can get an advantage and to stop where they think the pies might ahve an advantage.
  4. He also had a one match internal suspension which delayed him playing for Casey for an extra week when he was coming back from injury too. Hopefully, he has learnt from that tough love. Looks good, just maybe needs to try not to do too much with the footy all the time by foot.
  5. Could delisting rookie-listing Cook be a viable option? Hasn't shown anything special but may need to be afforded more time

Don't worry too much about his pre-season effort. He can probably see the impact he can make in games compared to those who are fitter than him,so imgaine his eyes light up when he thinks he could make their fittness with his natural ability
  7. Drafted as forward. Trains with the forwards. Plays forward at Casey this year. But plays down back with the seniors. Do you think the ultimate aim is to have him play down back or up forward?
  8. i rate the this! Club sucks at the moment...lets hope we can slowly turn it around again start to gain some ground in the last 2 thirds of the season to launch into a tough pre-season. I was wondering who Mark Neeld is going to Delist at the end of the year and i truly thought that it would be a tough decision, this year i think it still migh tbe tough but from a perspective of not too many standout performers.
  9. I cna say this at least...his heart is in teh right place. Time will tell if his decesions have been correct. But remember he hasn't been the sole person making these decisions. Jim and Don also chose Neeld. Malthouse seemed to publicly back Neeld more than Waters too.
  10. This is the difference between Don and you he probably can't sleep at night because he is worried about his club and is working hard to try to fix the club while you just walk away to the EFL. Just remember that Jim Stynes was around working closely with the coaches and adminstration sides of the club, he was also involved in the sacking of Bailey and endorsment of Neeld.
  11. Didn't it take Demons two months from teh sacking of Bailey to appointing Neeld? I would've thought that was long enough espcially when all fo the candidates come from such a small pool i.e. ex-AFL coaches or curreent head and assistant coaches at AFL clubs?
  12. Not sure why Mitch Clark cops such hate in the media, if anything I thought I had underated him as with the rest of the AFL world. Him Frawley and Jones are probably hte only players atm that beat their oppanent or at least break even. THey seem to hav ea great williness to win - hopefully they can spread this to the rest of the players.....eventually....before it is too late....
  13. I thought Bail would've taken a step forward under Neeld as he has a good engine, works hard both ways. Always thoght his disposal was a weaker aspect but just struggles to make an impact this year in games. I thin he needs a break to get his form up at Casey for two weeks and then maybe trying to have a more positive impact in the seniors...althought that did Pettard adn Bennel a whole lot of good Friday night....
  14. If it was the soccer it would be back page of the Herald Sun, but as the AFL and clubs have power over teh journalists it doesn't get reported as it doesn't work with the family friendly atmosphere. Had similar experience Friday night with a couple rat bag Hawks supporters
  15. Lots of players do it...even Jobe Watson did extra boxing sessions away from the club priot ot the 2006 season.
  16. exactly....if he went later like Rohan Bail or Jordie McKensie they would. These two butcher the ball by foot more than Cale but people let hat go becasue Jordie is a good tackler and bail runs hard. But also because not much was expected of them in teh first place. Wheres cale runs hard is defenately not in our bottom 10 players at the club yet people talk not only about trading him but delisting him for nothing!! Funny that Gold Coasts recruiter who gets paid for his opionion on footballers rated Morton highly...
  17. Neeld mentioned Dunn as being good after half time by keeping Murphy to 6 touches during that period. Morton was average tonight, but I think there was enough positives in his game tongiht. he had a crack. One missed hand ball, a kick down teh oppositions throat but I thought that was moreDunns fault when he doubled back and expected Morton to kick it 60 meters when he was stationary after being hemmed into teh boundry line by the dogs.
  18. last week the Bulldogs had four more inside 50s (50-46) and yet the Saints won by 63 points, it was their conversion that was the problem. I agree re:Jamar struggling for greater impact. It seems Jordies only way of clearing the ball cleaning when he dives on his knees is by getting a free kick. If he doesn't get that he just starts teh maul 2 meters in front of him where he rolled the handpass.
  19. he did give Jamar a chop out in the ruck. Was better than Martin last week so I thought their decision to play Martin was fair. Good to see Morton try to make a positive improvement. Seems like he has. Better attitude. Not saying his performance is great but heading in the right direction. Lots of players performance not up to scratch but sure who u drop them for. Not sure about Bartrum, never been great with footy in his hands and know he seems to be struggling to shut down his direct opponent
  20. If available I would Rookie list him in a flash. Was meant to train hard at the Dees previously and probably has learnt to train even harder along side Judd, Murphy et al. Might be good to bring that into the club.
  21. He has been good. Doesn't help when the ball is pumped in 60 times plus and he is generally playing on teh oppositions focal point. Plus every second half this year our midfield has struggled resulting in less pressure on those delivering the ball into the 50. Least of Neelds worries atm.
  22. Do what clubs tried to do with Dyson-Heppel and spread rumours of groin soreness and OP conditions....be ruthless
  23. Although, am I true in assuming that the AFL has given itself supreme power to allocate priority picks to clubs? If that is the case if Gold Coast finish with less than 5 wins the AFL could try to ensure that the experiment up North works and give them the number one pick etc Under current AFL rules, enacted from the 2012 season onwards, a club can receive a priority draft pick at the discretion of the AFL Commission. The Commission has flagged that a formula which will assist with determining whether or not a team receives a priority draft pick, and at which round in the draft that pick will be taken, is yet to be established, but that it will take into account quantitative measures, such as winning record and percentage over several seasons, and qualitative considerations such as a team's injury rate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Priority_draft_pick
  24. Yeah, that might be setting themselves up mentall for a big game when they get the chance to play us. Just like they will when they play the Suns.
  25. The good thing from teh game was that Jamar seemed to be better. Tap work seemed to improve and he started sticking his marks again which was a good sign.
