I'm pretty sure Tom Kavanagh (son of Crosswell) is still the only FS selection not to have the same surname as his dad.
-
Difference is they've already drafted JOM and we've only committed to drafting J.V so it couldn't happen.
-
State Library has them on microfilm. Unfortunately that means having to go there.
-
What happens if you F/S somebody and then it turns out via DNA test that they weren't actually fathered by the 100+ game player? Work that out AFL. Even better if the kid turns out to be fathered by a player from another team.

It's not like there will be an opposition fans to get narky at the GWS game so as long as your banner isn't one of those Port Adelaide style bay coverers or has foul language on it you should be fine. I'm hoping the $2m Turd doesn't even make it to Round 13.

No record of him but there's quite a few years I haven't been able to go through all the Footy Records to get players from team lists. And of course with the way the Record is kept by the State Library where it's random games each week players who were straight in/straight out may never be properly listed. Not complaining because they've done a fantastic job just to put that stuff up. Couple of other things I'm looking for that the State Library don't cover at the moment are Reserves results and goalkickers from 1990 and 1996 and details for the 1985 Reserves Preliminary Final and 1993 Reserves Grand Final (goalkickers only). Haven't got the time to get down to the SLV itself and look these up so hoping somebody might have a scrapbook or similar with these in it. Will help fill out this page http://demonwiki.org/Reserves

Best explanation I've ever seen. Compounding the mystery when that photo was originally on the AFL Photos website he was listed as "Roland Viney" but they've changed it now.
-
God forbid Herald Sun ever open up their archives online I'd love to see that.

Oh dear.

Just loaded super-slow for me. Must make sure backups are up to date or I might be off a bridge when it all explodes. P.S While we're here I should point out that I added a Google Search to the site that replaces the absolutely rubbish default search. If you're not exactly sure what you're searching for in the page name search you should be able to find something using the Google version. Also thanks to ex-U19/Reserves player Lino Taglieri for sending me an email filling in the gaps of his career! http://demonwiki.org/Lino+Taglieri Any other ex-lower grade players out there are welcome to do the same. What's Keith Goonewardene up to these days?

Speaking of the Viney family what's going on in this photo? How is Roland connected? It's been baffling me for years.

Ronald Dale Barassi leaves the Dees for Carlton
Supermercado replied to nutbean's topic in Melbourne Demons
How about the Norm Smith masterstroke the first time Melbourne played against Barassi? Waited for RDB and team to charge out of the sheds all pumped up and then kept his team inside to make them wait, and wait, and wait until the umpires had to go in and order the Melbourne players out. We won and all was right with the world but it was the last of our eight game winning streak to start the season and all downhill from there -
What number to put on my jumper? What do you have?

Absolutely 100% agree, I would love an early 80's Mayne Nickless one as sported by Brent Crosswell in this shot . http://demonwiki.org/Brent+Crosswell Would have to have the accurate sponsor on it though. Don't just want a generic one covering the entire electric blue period. -

At least he gave us good years, and he should have stayed around for another year or two and taken over as coach, but I hope he does his knee at Carlton and they finish last every year while we go on to smash about 15 more premierships. As long as the board don't do anything stupid with our coach next year we should be good for another flag. -
He's scum and I'll be quite happily maintaining the rage throughout the year but I hope we're not going to get a new thread every time he goes to the fridge or his sister gets another layer of terracotta colouring put on.
-
Additionally would also like to make sure he is actually not, you know, the biggest trade disaster in history before we go and make him the captain. I think Carlton could be fairly sure that the J**d exchange was going to work and although Clark might be a huge hit he's not a 100% guaranteed success. Besides, suggestion was by Greg Denham and suggestions by him should be instantly forced into an industrial sized shredder closely followed by Denham himself. Happy to stick with current captain but would take Moloney or JT as a long shot.

Time Trials - Friday 13th January, 2012

No doubt he'll get upgraded. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we get the one freebie that everyone gets, one for only having one veteran and one to replace Gawn? -

Remember when Yze wore the 3/4 length sleeves? I was right into that but then the AFL banned it. Shame. -
MFC players you're most looking forward to watch in 2012
Supermercado replied to Dee-Bortoli's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've been sucked into having a lot of faith about this season but I'm interested to see how Jordie McKenzie goes. If he stays fit he could be magic (in an unpolished way). Also Trengove and Grimes. -

My friend got laughed at by Danny Hughes for having Bate's number. She's still got her neck in front in that argument. -

Only Brad Green stands between me and ignoring this rule. Whatever you do don't get a young player with a high number due to the obsession with changing their numbers. Where will the next Shaun Rehn 50's and proud player come from? -
Restoking a rivalry: Melbourne v Geelong
Supermercado replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
Collingwood rivalry is treading water until we're both good in the same season again. With any luck the next time we're up they're about to go on a tumble again -

Shame somebody didn't at least go nuts and biff a few players during the 186 debacle. Knowing our luck that day they'd have accidentally punched themselves in the head. -

When did we ever really have a rivalry with Geelong? -
Top Ten Could-a-been Champions for the MFC
Supermercado replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cook only did his ankle. Missed two months, came back into the VFL side having completely lost interest and retired in July. 3 games, 8 goals was a good start and he might have gone alright if he hadn't done himself in at the SCG but ultimately his demise saved Neita from a life in the backline. Of course his legacy lived on as for the next few years the ads for Demon Health Insurance in the end of year magazine featured the picture of him being carried off.
