Apart from when we rushed him in against Collingwood and he got beaten up did the media touch Watts in his first season? Don't think so. Wait until Patton has played 30/40 games then compare.

What happens if a team runs out of fit players?
Supermercado replied to olisik's topic in Melbourne Demons
Didn't it almost happen to Essendon a few years ago? By the last game they were down to their last fit rookie. Maybe it was somebody else, but whoever it was they went close. -
On the Couch - Brock talks about 'tanking'
Supermercado replied to jumbo returns's topic in Melbourne Demons
Which two coaches is that? Considering that he returned to Melbourne in August 2008, halfway through Bailey's first season. Still, don't let the truth get in the way of a witch-hunt. -
POLL: Do you want Mark Neeld to remain coach in 2013?
Supermercado replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Of course he should. Good luck to you if your opinion goes the other way, but the bad news is that he's going to be there whether you like it or not and your only available avenue of defiance is to whine on forums about how unfair life is. -
On the Couch - Brock talks about 'tanking'
Supermercado replied to jumbo returns's topic in Melbourne Demons
Makes me wonder when everyone who hates the administration will have the balls to do something about it rather than just complaining endlessly on forums. If the board goes up uncontested and the AGM features one person asking a half-angry question again then I'm never taking any "sack the board/CEO/etc" posts seriously again. -

Carlton were still at it when they gave up pick 11 for him. -
Surely a club like Frankston that has nothing else going their way shouldn't be scheduled at home against AFL affiliated sides while the affiliate is playing? Scheduling in this competition is baffling.

John Landy played for our Under 19's/Thirds in 1948 apparently. At least he claimed it at a breakfast I saw him speak at yesterday morning.

They can all play in the F. Cup. I know a guy who was given a Bulldogs' player's medal after Williamstown won it because the player had no interest.
-
First Gerard, then in thirty years Tom Scully.

I will never leave a world where somebody going 7/9 on spelling player names correctly is actually above MFC supporter average.

I heard a guy from the VFL on SEN last week saying all the byes weren't just because of the uneven amount of teams, but also because of the Foxtel Cup. Shame then that nobody other than novelty interstate sides actually care about the Foxtel Cup - can it and get back to your core business which is being a glorified reserves competition.
-
In the three years we've been playing there we're 18-2-39 (counting the two wins in Darwin), I don't it's just playing there that's hurting us the next week. Any good team beats Port there, and goes into the next game as a big chance. It might not be an ideal preparation, but if the team are good enough it won't matter. Unfortunately the teams that are 'good enough' also make enough money to not have to go to exotic venues OR have sewn up ones that are in decent climates. Also should be noted that in 2010 we played Geelong @ Kardinia Park the next week, so we were hardly going to win that anyway. (P.S - Mind you it should be noted in the interests of fairness that Port did lose at home to Richmond the week after we played them there last year..)
-
Carlton and Hawthorn are but have reserves sides now anyway. Especially Carlton. Worst thing about this news is that it'll keep the bye in the VFL and they'll probably have another four of them plus a state game week that nobody cares about.
-
Would rather the Reserves, but wouldn't object. Problem would be that the games would be played so early only a handful of people would see them.
-
I fully expected this to be a "should we get him" (or, if you're stealing phrases from the media "make a play for") thread. Should have known from the fact that it was only one page that it wasn't.

Who are GWS going to poach at seasons end?
Supermercado replied to PaulRB's topic in Melbourne Demons
They can still take a second player from the same club IF the club agrees to get the compensation i.e Sam Reid from the Bulldogs after they'd already lost Callan Ward. SO, if in the event Blease turned up one day and said "I'm out" and there was no convincing him it would be better for us to let him go for whatever instead of losing him free in the PSD. Hope it doesn't happen mind you. He's worth more than whatever peanuts we'd get via compo, but it's an option if he is absolutely sure he's going. -
Also not even our worst crowd against Freo recently - 13,004 in Round 20, 2009 at the MCG. At least then the blame could be laid at the fact that 1) it was pouring rain and freezing cold and 2) the tank was in (although we did [censored] them, and it was a great day other than the weather).
-
Somebody's paying him zillions to be a good ordinary player. The line blurs between Gold Coast/GWS and the AFL considering they're practically the same organisations. Still, cop that Richmond.
-
At least if they're paying well over the odds for him they got somebody with the mental fortitude to finish from that position.
-
At least we managed to beat the worst crowd there - and didn't even record our worst result. http://stats.rleague.com/afl/crowds/vn_docklands.html Surprised at how many Freo fans were there in the end.
-
Tell him Brisbane used to get 3000 in the early 90's then staple his hand to a desk.
-
I agree with you wholeheartedly, but I've also got bad news for you - MFC sent out an email a couple of months ago and it said top level would be shut. I'll say 12k - if we could get 15,740 last year post-186 I'd be appalled if we were 3k under that now even if Freo bring less fans than WCE.

Jamar has ruined the fun of writing off ruckmen before their mid 20's for everyone.
