Awesome report thanks very much Wanted to highlight this cause it is a continued concern over Blease and the ramifications of his injury for the long term. I don't care what anyone says clearly his development has been severly hampered the fact he can only make it into the 2's at Casey at about 70% game time shows from how far back he's coming. This is through no fault of his own. He's not going to brake into the seniors this year. He's out of contract end of year he will be offered another year. I just hope he can smash pre season get up and playing consistent footy cause he's got the talent and skills. I just hope an unfortunate school yard tragedy hasn't wrecked a career.

Seriously can't handle this it's dispicable an embarrassment in effort I cant handle this pathetic excuse of a side. We deserve to be flogged relentlesly with this absolutely crap effort makes you want to rip your f'cking heart out and stamp on it. Deserve better from the footy side we support.

No excuse this week for a decent go of it today. The teams well rested missing Sylvia and Mcdonald is significant however I'll be disappointed if we don't win. Must win game for our development and to ensure we progress beyond the bottom 4. Vince is at 80-90% he generally carves us up looking at a hard tag from Jones or Mckenzie to nullify him. Up against St Kilda at Ethiad next week which we are notoriously bad at playing at and Riewoldt looks to be back next week. So MFC must win this week to set up a productive 2nd half of season.

According to Bailey on 3aw Gysberts disappointed in a few of his efforts against Pies. He has been told to go back to Casey and work on them with a view to be selected as soon as possible. Not sure what area of his game was not up to scratch against Pies. He's a gun player he'll be better for the run in the 2nds.

Richmond has one game plan at the moment kick long to Riewoldt while it's working in the short term it's only a stop gap. If Riewoldt's form goes off, clog their back line, pressure the ball carier the tiges loose everytime. While it's working short term not going to work forever.

Williamstown vs. Casey Scorpions (ABC TV)
Diablo Deemon replied to Bleasey as that's topic in Melbourne Demons
Absolute shalacking so far today very disappointing for Casey's first game free to air. Johnson gone for next 4 weeks for that elbow which is the end of his career. The turnovers have been amongst the worse I've seen Casey has looked like a 1 and 8 team. -
The pokie machine debate, while many espouse a philosphy that the person is ultimately responsible looking beneath the surface we see that pokie machines are more prevalent per capita in suburbs of lower socio economic classes. Why is this so because these people are more likely to gamble to improve their situation some would say this is purely providing a service where the demand is. However everything about pokies is to promote expenditure beyond capabilities. Pokies more so than any other avenue of gambeling are completely profit driven with their accessbility and perceived inexpensiveness are totally targeted at people whose losses impact the most. Abscence of daylight, the rythmical music of payouts, the odds, the smells, free food and drinks these are all controls put in place to make someone 'reliant' on pokies. Some would say that it's up to the person to know better, that they should know their bad but this device is in the business of creating addiction. However saying all of this Melbourne's future is not tradeable by not taking part in the pokie game our future is at risk. The AFL clearly wants a code reliant on gambeling look at the saturation of gambeling websites and outlets that have penetrated club and AFL sponsorship since the laws changed. The Melbourne board would of been doing a diservice to the members if they had not pursued the pokie route. What has occurred through the fault of the AFL's lack of sharing the wealth through the t.v rights is a code in bed with the services that are trading in money on results of games this blights the integrity of the game. Surely the AFL organisation is more at fault than MFC for showing a lack of leadership and moral ambiguity. For too long the MFC has been 3 steps behind others with pokies and gambeling being such a profitable revenue source MFC had to be counted. Sometimes you have to do what needs to be done and go against your moral compass this is one of those situations.

Inspirational Man wish him strength in his battles. Best of Luck and please get better soon. All the best to his family also in this difficult time.

Loving the great access that Burgan is making for the regular punter. Instead of the standard post match report we now have a professional reporting all the information on the team we love. Really good thinking this and it hasn't been a slow burn we have seen the immediate results. The only way we grow our club is by getting information out there and having people talk about us. This is a massive step towards achieving our growth goals.

Cant for the life of me understand how Miller retains his spot. Maybe his final farewell game. We've lacked structure when we used Sylvia and co in ruck everytime we'd get smashed in the clearances and it's just embarrassing. Johnson's last chance Sneaky suspicion Bennell will get the chop had a 2 bad weeks in a row. Watts will stay in the side. Jones wont be risked. and I'm extremely doubtful Sylvia will get up.

Can't say he has been bashed up on the site much that I have noticed but considering the door has been opened i'll offer my opinion. He's shown absolutely nothing to suggest he should be getting a regular game. I'm 85% convinced he's a spud. Pick 21 in the national draft has shown nothing to warrant any hope of a regular game in the seniors at all this year. He hasn't dominated any games, hasn't kicked many goals, regularly goes missing in games defencive pressure isn't up to scratch Start of this year he came out said he needed to make 2010 count and he said he had no excuses. see link http://www.melbournefc.com.au/News/NewsArticle/tabid/7415/newsid/89954/default.aspx So considering he's got no excuses it's round 12 kids the likes of Gysberts, Scully and Trengove have flown past him he is a delist once contract is up or trade but i'd doubt we'd get any offers. I hope O/P isn't a player agent trying to spruik his client so he gets noticed

I have the up most confidence he will find his way. Considering what he's come back from and the amount of footy he has missed. To virtually slot back into senior footy and although admittedly make some stupid mistakes he has performed exceptionally from such a interuppted preperation. This player is class just think what he'll be able to do with a pre season. I'm sure I saw him playing on Garlett on the weekend and no one can say he got the better of him.

The major point is that Dunn more so than most actually has experience playing in a forward line. But rather than picking him to play forward he's constantly played out of position. Is he the answer to all our problems i don't think so, the important question is considering all the injuries and players just not up to it. Where does Dunn rank with what's available. He's ahead of Hughes, Newton and considering age, skills and upside he's ahead of Miller. Miller out for Dunn this week and the next 10 games are for him to kick 35 goals and cement his spot if he doesn't he's a list clogger.
-
Pretty inept performance by our boys looking for them to turn up play risk taking, hard tackeling footy. Can't afford to get blown out of the water like that anymore we need to be in the contest not playing catch up. So depending on injuries. Ins: Dunn (played up forward), Mackenzie (for Junior if injured), Macdonald, Frawley Outs: Miller(omit), Sylvia (inj won't be risked), Jones (inj), Junior (inj)
-
Lynden Dunn - We all know him we all know he has let us down at times his game hasn't cut the mustard We all know he was recruited as a forward and frequently he was disappointing we've had him play through the midfield down back but when we are at our most depleted in forward line where is he to be found. He's not in the midfield as a hard tag, no he's not in the defence as a sweeper/ 2nd man up. Where is he, he's playing for Casey kicking 8 while we're having our pants pulled down. Why hasn't Dunn been given anytime to contribute in the forward line this year. He's 192cm, he's physically developed. He's still young 23-24 If he can't mark the thing at least he should be able to bring it to ground. I think the coaching staff has dropped the ball on Dunn. Trying to add strings to his bow has left him under developed in any single role he could possibly be proficient at. He hasn't seemed to be anywhere in our forward line development considering the injuries we've had hence he's the bermuda triangle of our side

I think the hardest part of this entire re-establishment exercise is enjoying the journey. For some reason I just expect us to be there competitive taking it to the opposition. Frequently I get ahead of myself I know 3 straight wins had me dreaming big but on 3 occassions now we have been out muscled and timid in the contest. Hawthorn, Geelong and Carlton have all made us look inept. I understand now the distance we have to go on this journey is very very hard one and I think it's 2-3 years before we are as likely to win as we are to lose. I'm going to try harder to enjoy the ride.
-
Let's get one thing straight I've never intimated it's Blease's fault for breaking his leg don't put words in my mouth I'm merely observing on the balance of where players are at currently from his draft pool when he is anwhere near playing regular football he will of lost nearly 2-3 years in development. I'm not portioning blame I'm illustrating the fact the guy who I rate highly in terms of ability will be behind by a very long way. This is, as my first point states obviously disappointing. So if you compare apples with apples Blease compared to other players in his draft is going to be at least 2-3 years behind.
-
Gawn's situation: It's not disappointing to have a player out for 12 months rather than 16 weeks and miss all the development don't see how that works. I agree we knew what was coming it doesn't mean that I should be happy about it. Blease situation: Your dreaming if you think he'll have anything like full load training or game time in 2 weeks his first 2 years will in the most part be written off. Ballantyne,Suban, Beams, Hannebery, Bennell, Zaharakis all around the 15-30 draft range have gone past him in development. 2-3 years maybe an exaggerattion but from time of recruitment I reckon it's what we are looking at for these guys to be playing regularly like Scully and Trengove and we don't know if their up to it.
-
Gawn should of had LARS would of been back in 16 weeks. Our injuries to young players is concerning Blease missing 2 years of development, Tapscott missing what looks like most of this year. We recruit players at 17-18 then loose them for 2- 3 years to injury before finding out if their up to the grade.

Gabba softened for Collingwood-Brisbane clash
Diablo Deemon replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
The surface is suss, the softening of the ground pre Pies game is suss, should of been done during the mid season break. Etihad's surface is suss, how the AFL pretends the grounds are up to standard then blame injuries on increased interchanges is suss the wholething is just very suss
