Your points are very sound however the enviroment when he was there was great. I agree with your first part of the post that stated...I would be disappointed if the Club sacrificed player development and the LT future of the Club with the short term fix on "winning" games. MFC needs to get development and game time into younger players. As part of that learning process, these players will be talented but green. Couldn't this be done at Casey. Let us not forget that we have only 14 players whom have played over 50 games on the list. Also whilst I think JW should have had a taste of it last year pulling him after 3 games was the correct thing to do.My attitude is do not cook them too quickly. Our list could develop like Pagan's kids at North did- came up through the under 19's together as winners.
-
Agree totally- On the 8/1 he did the same and from other training days that I have attended he seems a major contributor. I am rapt that we have him permantly this year after a part time roll last year. I remember when Brett Ratten coached MFC for only the 1 year. The players felt let down and in particular the midfield. We have two great midfield coaches in Williams and West to bring these players on.

Very true they were taking the Berry Street kids to the beach.

I actually agree with you however before he had his lung problems he first played and showed real ability on the wing. To me this is his rightful position. I feel he has lost stamina and not developed further. As stated it is not his ability I question but his health. Just for interest, this is my best team in 2010 what is yours B: CHENEY WARNOCK RIVERS HB: BENNELL FRAWLEY MacDONALD C:GRIMES MOLONEY MORTON HF: GREEN WATTS MILLER FF: DAVEY BATE JURRAH R:JAMAR BRUCE JONES I: McDONALD SYLVIA MARTIN (AND either Petterd, Jetta, Garland ,Maric or Dunn And that is not placing any new recruits in the team-which they will be. Await your views from Perth.

I agree that there maybe 20odd ,not thirty on the list in worse or similar shape as Petterd. However, that is not my point. If we could get a high draft pick for him , I would take it straight away. Petterd at best is a fringe player, most suited to a flexible interchanger whom actually would definately not get into my best 22.Also, my comment was NEARLY make or break year for him ,I say ditto to at least another 15.

Maybe playing the core of young players together at Casey first could be the best initially.Let these young ones being the likes of Jetta, Blease, Strauss, Fitzpatrick, Gawn-when fit and able, Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, Tapscott, along with McNamara, Spencer, McKenzie and maybe even Watts could all grow with confidence within and each other.
-
To my knowledge the AFL sponsor these exhibition games-pay the clubs for going to meet all costs etc..however the opportunity for the MFC could be amazing- re sponsorship and membership if indeed it is a success and we keep driving momentum. Need to really penetrate this financial drive in China at the Expo.

Extremely well stated Demondeb, agree totally with your summation of JW, found it very interesting re comments on growth with Morton. I would love to know what players have grown and by what amount and how many kgs they have put on. I have made a request to JenWatts @MFC but at this stage not forcoming.Maybe some pressure from others would be great.

Scully did the injury back on the September 07, 2009 and I would have thought he has had enough recovery time and surely being our No1 recruit the medical staff would have ensured this. However, a speedy recovery personally .

I agree- whilst we say all players are under the microscope, I believe Ricky will certainly be so this year- it is nearly make or break year for him. After nearly dying, two and a half years ago now and three pre seasons since that Round 14 disaster in 2007. I say, all the best Ricky.

Article is highlighting what we have already been told, time again and again. No mention of Tapscott whom I believe would be near favourite to be the first to strip with the Dees. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...80/default.aspx

The blonde young man may have been Luke Parker from the Dandenong Stingrays whose photo is attached. http://www.smpimages.com/viewphoto.php?&am...&imagepos=5

-
Thanks for your imput , very much appreciated. Noted your remarks with Jimmy. But who is Mega ????

Tried to get to training today- what a mix up- website said 8am- rang the MFC and told 10am. Anyhow, missed it totally. Can anyone that went please give us a report as was told and I was interested to see Scully in full training along with Watts whom also was expected to do all the drills. We wait in earnest.

Great idea.

Agree totally- and if it was Judd- stripped of captaincy. Also-W.J. coorect me if I am wrong, didn't Davey get fined $5000.00 for being late home after having a few drinks in Darwin after a funeral and missing the plane- but the dobber was Aaron himself, basically because he felt guilty. These bloody other footballers re Fevola, Houlihan,Walker ,Betts have got off with the same fine as Davey.Even poor Maric got fined $5000.00 for gambling $10.00 didn't he. Will hang out to see what Carlton fine the culprit whom handcuffed the rookie however in today's press one of Carlton's players- Russell says he has and the team moved on. Good luck to them but I will hound the AFL if they do nothing in relationship with Carlton over this matter and bygonit wait to see what Essendon does with Hurley and ditto the AFL.
-
Agree and the public should be told what the club Essendon F.C. has done about it- not swept under the carpet similar to Carlton has done with the player(thought to be a senior) hancuffed to a rookie, in a sculling competition.
-
I agree with you all, both of these players are and will be very important over the years of growth. Jones, hopefully will have pressure taken off him, with the likes of Trengove & Scully,Grysberts & Tapscott whilst we should not forget Maric ,Wonaeamirri and McKenzie's development along with Bartram & Bell as standby's. Hope I have not forgotten any.
-
I agree totally and to think Jones has played 70 games already and Morton 40 games makes them like veterans or at least senior players at the club already with 30 odd players that have played less games than Morton..
-
It is Jones's 22 nd birthday today- Happy birthday-Another tattoe for the occassion? Cale Morton turned 20 yesterday- Both very young with tremendous up side.
-
To add or sustain my opening thread I also refer to todays notification-http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/prank-wedding-vows-included-in-carlton-off-season-excursion-to-las-vegas/story-e6frf7jo-1225819424883. To me Judd shows us again and again why we are so lucky he did not come to us as a leader and especially a captain. Glad also we have stuck with Junior to lead the toungest side this year in the comp.

Whilst we are discussing memberships, sponsorships, should Bails gain an extension etc.. one thing entered my mind --that is we need to plan for the match against Brisbane in China on the 17th October 2010.http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,26379003-5018851,00.html .This, indeed will make a very long season, especially for our young team.We would want to go full bore and play our best available team as China could become a paradise for us in the future. Re for gaining players, sponsors etc.. a GOLDMINE brewing. As we all know, we have invested there over the last few yearsd, got tremendous network via our former No 1 ticket holder John So. Therefore, we need to keep in mind that this season is going to be perculiar- in that the players most probably will only have a short break if we do not make he finals or still train on if we do. This also will change the normal pattern of pre season for 2011. This indeed maybe also why Bails may get an early extension Your thoughts?

What a load of crap- people want to be the best and gain recognition for it. Look at Cadel Evans - could not get out of his own way in the Tour de France however 2 months later - headlines were-28 Sep 2009 ... Cadel Evans has become Australia's first cycling road-race world champion, winning Sunday's event in Mendrisio, Switzerland. This has brought him a new team etc.. a very important factor for him.. The World Cup of tennis may never overtake Wimbleton but it would become prestige in its own right.
