  1. I don't know if I'm smarter or dumber for reading this thread.
  2. If there are some of our "kids" (i.e. Petracca, Oliver, Hunt, et al) that turn out to be better players than Brayshaw, this footy club will be in a position that I have never seen. He will be a bloody beauty, and it will take a high quality player/s to be better than him. As McCartney indicated if Bugg can improve his consistency, he is a very good player to have as our 15th-22nd best player each week. Very underrated in my opinion. I prefer not to comment on rookies that I wouldn't know if I fell over them.
  3. I have no opinion either way either, Dee, but "toughest footy thing he has ever done" can be a long way from "most beneficial footy thing he has ever done".
  4. As it is favourite, and not best, mine will look extremely different to some! The Wiz Sean Wight Andrew Ford Jim Stynes Dom Tyson Liam Jurrah Jeff White Angus Brayshaw Ricky Jackson Chopper Carroll
  5. Thought you'd be a big fan of having a 3rd man "up", Bitty... Must be mellowing in your old days.
  6. Disappointed that we weren't given the opportunity of having the Casey Demons playing a curtain raiser to one of our senior games (http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-12-15/curtainraisers-feature-in-2017-vfl-draw). I hope this is the last we publicly recognise Jordan Lewis as our maiden "destination club" man. Don't get me wrong, I'm as excited about him coming to us as anyone, but he's now part of the 40-odd players on our list that, a list that needs all players determined to have success. He brings so much to this club, let him just do it like he plays, by getting down and dirty, to a high standard and with minimal fuss. Sorry for what would comes across as a negative from what seemed to be a very positive meeting. Bring on 2017!
  7. Grimes and Morton were experts at that. Just because they can, doesn't mean they should. I honestly believe Grimes would've been a better player if he used his preferred foot more than he did.
  8. I'm not betting with you, SWYL. I value my left one a lot higher than yours, and quite frankly, I have no interest in receiving yours should you lose the bet.
  9. Red, what is your opinion of the penalty given to Impy?
  10. I would be surprised if this happened, especially in 2017.
  11. Tipping you don't have kids, Spencer? (Not being rude, but if you have kids of your own that are fit and healthy, these sort of stories should make you appreciate the things we often take for granted).
  12. I forget to mention, and pretty sure I am echoing the thoughts of the Demonland community... Good luck to Andrew, I hope you get to see a Demon flag sooner rather than later. And I wish you and your family nothing but the best of good times and health for the upcoming festive season, and for many years to come.
  13. We are all passionate Demons, and often get caught up in the emotion of wanting the best thing for our club. We all think we know what's best, and often our opinion is quite different to the next person. We all have players we love, players we love to hate, and players we want to hold responsible for us not winning a flag each year. One thing we often forget is that the players that are fortunate enough to play for our club, they are human. They are in a "fortunate" position to have people idolise them, and can really make a difference in the lives of some less fortunate than most of us. While I'm sure all the players are striving to win a premiership at some stage in their careers, I'd have no doubt that being responsible for giving someone an extra bit of hope, especially at this time of year, is just as satisfying. I encourage everyone on here to watch this clip. I'm sure that if it doesn't bring a tear to your eye, that at the very least it will make you appreciate the efforts that our club goes to, to make someone's day. The whole club is doing whatever it can, each year, to make the day of the near 40,000 members, and the however many non-members that barrack for our club, but every now and then it can deliver that warm and fuzzy feeling without feeling the need to lift a premiership cup. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2016-12-05/coach-for-a-day This stuff makes me bloody proud to be a supporter. Go Dees.
  14. Wingard would love to play for Melbourne. Means he only has to play against Jetta in an intraclub.
  15. All I care about for next year's draft is who will be available at pick 18 when we have our first pick.
  16. Here's a copy and paste from Wikipedia about "Character assassination"... "Character assassination is a deliberate and sustained process that aims to destroy the credibility and reputation of a person, institution, social group, or nation.[1] Agents of character assassinations employ a mix of open and covert methods to achieve their goals, such as raising false accusations, planting and fostering rumours, and manipulating information. Character assassination is an attempt to tarnish a person's reputation. It may involve exaggeration, misleading half-truths, or manipulation of facts to present an untrue picture of the targeted person. It is a form of defamation and can be a form of ad hominem argument." Not much in the above that Olisik hasn't tried doing. That said, I'm sure most of us on here, myself included, is guilty of it at some stage!!!
  17. This is what Olisik posted in Monday's training thread... He (Olisik) got questioned about his thoughts on Monday, and has carried it on to Wednesday's training report too. So is my "unwarranted and over the top reaction" still "ridiculous"?
  18. You are basing this on nothing but the fact that he is in the rehab group. Immediately you jumped to the conclusion that he let himself go over the break, and are unwilling to consider any other views, or even any other comments from those that actually attend training and talk to those within the club. It's amazing that you are questioning and even assassinating Trengove's character, yet at the same time, you have made no comments about your love child (Oliver), who would appear to have had a far more "interesting" offseason than JT.
  19. Every time I see this photo the bloke on the left reminds me of Jon Ralph. Snake oil salesman written all over the above 2 blokes, as well as Ralph.
  20. Who said he was lucky to be given a contract? Mahoney? Jack? Jack is one of the most professional players on the list. Your concerns about the shape that he has come back in are totally uneducated.
  21. I can assure you of one thing, Praha, there are players on our list, and every other list in the AFL, that won't be playing AFL next year. Let's also not forget that while Grimes and Newton are no longer on an AFL list, their "replacements" haven't played a senior game between them, and one is a rookie who will need some things go his way before he's able to play at the top level (should his form warrant it).
  22. The VFL is of superior quality when comparing it to the NEAFL. Also, if you have a look at Grimes' stats for the year in the VFL, you will see he's had a far better year than what McKenna did. What McKenna does have on his side is age and (no) baggage, so hopefully at the end of this season, we will agree that McKenna added more than what Grimes would've. But to rank McKenna equal to Grimes is just plain wrong at this stage. Newton had a frustrating year with injury, but his best at this stage is far better than Hannan's. It's not to say that Hannan won't be a better pick up, nor McKenna for that matter.
  23. Can you please tell me how you can give McKenna more than Grimes, and Hannan getting more than Newton? It's bordering on "new pick-up hysteria".
  24. Haven't seen much of Dec, other than what's on the highlights tape on the MFC website. The kid looks like a genuine swingman, which will be awesome. Have a feeling that he will fast become Uncle Bitter's favourite, given how much he likes his swingers...
