Giving you plenty of warning to find some! I think Collingwood will humiliate us QB game, may even be twice this year by them. I'm going to wash my mouth out now.
-
His team have played 2 games together.
-
Appreciate that, but give me the 3 players that will be replaced.
-
He's taken us from 8 wins for his entire first 2 seasons, to 8 wins in his 3rd season. We are 1/2 and 1 so far, and I expect that to be 2 1/2 and 1 in a fortnight. At the end of the year, if we haven't won 8 1/2 or more, then I will sit back and say that we probably would've expected better, but I'm not sure if that is totally the coaches fault. In 2012 I wont expect performances like Sunday. I expect one or two more this year.

Hard call. Of course you would, after their 2 GF losses to Brisbane it would have been a totally different answer. But...I haven't seen what Bailey can do in the first week of October. Until then, he is our coach, Malthouse isn't, so I support the man in charge. I've seen how his game plan can destroy teams, so I've got confidence.
-
Cheers mate. Had this same conversation with Barry Prendegast about 2 years ago at a local (SE Qld) football match. TBH, I didn't even know it was him! It was nice to know that he and I were on the same page.
-
Ok, So you've named Bailey as a worry, name your players...
-
Grimes got nominated and Jones got 2 nominations. End of story.
-
Did not make that statement at all - very badly misquoted. I made the comment that Bailey gives us nothing at pressers, and I think this is professional. Malthouse and Sheedy are exactly the same.
-
But where we have been struggling is that there is no pressure from beneath to take their spot. Ok, Gysberts has had a couple of good games in the reserves, so now he deserves a call up. Until some of these kids do this, our passengers (I'd like for you to name them - I'm assuming Jones?), have to stay, especially if they are more experienced.
-
Sorry Old Dee, we're not having a good day you and I - nothing personal! I think bringing in Juice this week would be a big mistake. I think it's that mentality that has hurt us in the past. The mentality that I'm talking about is rewarding players for 1 good performance in the reserves. I want to see him (especially considering we've seen him before), do it on a regular basis. Do it for 3 games in a row, then you come in. It would be different if he was in our best 22.
-
Why, because we were totally outplayed by a team far superior than us? When was our last performance like that?
-
We need to win a game for this kid! http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/110861/default.aspx

Classic case where a stat means JS. Bailey inherited a shite list and is in his 4th season. Don't think any of the great Coaches would have delivered us a flag in that time with the list we had.
-
Interesting way of putting it, but I think Stynes, etc know that while Bailey may have been outcoached, the issues were more onfield. If the Pres is of this opinion, the coach is a safe as houses (for the moment). We have shown that we can be ruthless with list changes, noone of the players are safe if they perform like that on a regular basis.

It's a fair point, but where do we stop? I wish we had Neitz at Full Forward still, especially in a couple of years when we have a stronger midfield. He would've been great out there on Sunday. With a departure, we move on. It's like breaking up with a girl, yeah sure, you may shed a tear if you've been together a while, but what do you do, sit and home and enjoy your own company, or get out there and re-enter the workforce? At times you think about your ex and how good it was, but then you find new interests and all is forgotten (until you have a bad experience that is!). Nb: Mods, I know I'm probably close to that line, but it's an attempt of humour that surely wouldn't offend anyone? I could have written it a lot worse!!!

I'm on RR's side Iva, so I do apologise if I assassinate one's character - never meant to happen. I get frustrated with some of the comments and expectations on here, just as those people get frustrated with the comments and expectations from our coach. Reality is, none of us know what is going on behind the scenes, and I, as a member of this great club, am glad we have a coach who doesn't come out ranting and raving. I think it shows a strong sense of professionalism, and am proud of my club for this. Malthouse is a [censored] at presser's, he gives the media (and us that watch them) absolutely nothing to feed off. Sheedy was exactly the same.
-
Didn't say we had control. You wanted to see intensity, commitment and a resemblence of our game plan. I'm asking if you saw it in the 2nd quarter or not? I have no idea what was wrong in the 3rd quarter, but they looked as flat as a sh!t carters hat. Did they run out of legs? Obviously you don't think they did, I have no idea what it was.

Sorry, maybe the threads/posts on the Jones bashing, the Moloney & Rivers criticism, the Davey-putting-the-ball-in-the-air incident, the Grimes = liability. And then the fact that even in the player review on the MFC website said that Green needed to increase his defensive pressure, plus our President's press release, and also the criticism from commentators about our senior players, I think we get the point that these particular players are part of the leadership group, which to me means we lacked leadership. Flogged to death? Yes, in individual circumstances. BTW - you ever played contact sport HT? If cop a good one in the guts it can take a good few minutes to get over it. It was pretty clear he wasn't 100% after that, but let's question his hardness.

Thanks for the info and I have one of those keyboards that can't write the letters on the left of the M, R, E, Y, P and M keys. What I would dearly love to see is Blease become our Half Back Flank that we so desperately need. To justify this comment, I would dearly love to see Tapscott become the Half Forward Flank that he was drated as. Tappy is our Chappy right? Chappy kicks goals and Tappy loves to kick goals. Don't turn him in to a defender pleeeeeeeeeeeease! Any word on Strauss?

2 unqualified statements. Firstly, I saw the stare that Bailey gave Watts (I think, may have been Jurrah), I can't remember the play (I'll try and watch the replay and get back to you), but I know I immediately thought to myself that the player was lazy. Within a second, they showed Bailey on the boundary and he was screaming to Jack (I'm sure it was Jack now because I could almost hear Bailey through the TV) to get back. The look on his face wasn't one that I would say loves losing. Your second point is a joke. Just because Bailey doesn't show any passion in a presser means losing doesn't hurt. WTF?
-
What more do we want? Green has come out and said it was unacceptable, Stynes has done it, why does Bailey need to do it too? You know it was unacceptable, and I know it was unacceptable. For the record, I didn't see a quarter like that 3rd one coming either, even after their ill-directed dominance throughout the first half. I sat back and kept thinking 2 things; * We can't stop this! * What team would be able to stop this? It was one of the most dominating performances I have seen by any team ever! Our first quarter against Sydney last year was pretty special, the Swans had no answers, Goodes was the only leader that stood up for them in that quarter. I don't need to say it, but we aint got no Goodes! Get over it people, we got flogged. Let's move on FFS.
-
I think this has been flogged to death, and Stynes also mentioned it in his press release this morning, so obviously the Club and the players know that it was an issue. That was last weekend's game, so I will be watching our leaders over the next 2 weeks to see if there is any change of attitude. If not, then we have serious issues. I don't think we do.
-
Didn't we have it in the 2nd quarter? Maybe you expect consistency, which is fair enough, especially from our senior players. Expecting it against a stronger and much better team than ours is unrealistic.

More useless stats; In 2003, 2 years after the Geelong Superdraft (apologies for my error earlier), they suffered these losses (among others); WB by 39 Kangaroos @ Skilled by 23 Pies by 47 Saints by 45 Lions @ Skilled by 14 Swans by 39 Crows @ Skilled by 17 Essendon by 36 Drew with West Coast @ Skilled. They finished that year 12th, with 7 wins. Of their senior players, they had the likes of Harley, King, Mooney, Riccardi, Sanderson, Milburn, Scarlett, and Ling who had already played significant amouonts of footy. Be 110% honest with yourself, how do those senior players compare to our current senior players? As you can see above, they lost 3 games and had a draw at Skilled Stadium, with 2 of the losses and the draw being against interstate sides! In 2004, in the first 2 rounds they lost to Saints (61) and Blues (54). However, they started winning games well too - Richmond (49), then toward the end of the year beat Carlton by 57 (after geting flogged earlier in the year buy them). They finished 4th with 15 wins. If we are calling our Superdraft the 2009 one, we should expect losses like Sunday to happen again at times in the season. I think the significant improvement over the past 3 years (as per HG's stats froma couple of weeks ago), I think shows we are ahead of schedule to some degree. Also, keep in mind that the yera we picked up Watts and Blease, both these boys were bottome age recruits. Next year finals will be expected. Providing we reach our win/loss record of last year, and possibly improve it slightly, Bailey should be given a 2 year extension. At the end of that 2 years, we should be in a financial position to chase the best Coach around, because he will be taking over from a team that will see our class of 2009 with around 60-80 games under their belt. Who knows, we may already have that premiership coach in charge. Yet, people STILL expect miracles!
