  1. Dunno what I expected when starting this thread but this wasn't it....maybe can merge with the Viney Made Me Cry thread (just remembered it now or I would've posted in there) and delete/move all the off topic posts? Viney is an aggressive freak, someone I love who actually relishes hitting and being hit, the physical aspect of footy. Freakish goals and marks are great but winning a hard ball or sticking a big tackle is one of the great aspects of the game that I love watching and you can tell Viney just feeds off it. He is going to be hurting opponents for years to come and it's going to be a ;pleasure to watch. With him, Brayshaw, Oliver, Petracca forming a midfield nucleus of hard nuts teams will hate playing us over the next decade.
  2. Damian Barrett makes a positive comment about MFC! IF THEN Melbourne Joel Selwood and Luke Hodge split the honours as AFL's toughest ... ... Jack Viney is not far away from making it a three-way go. In fact, we’re mounting the case right now to say he’s there already. Also comments about Hurley not training with the main group of suspended Bombers. Trouble in paradise?
  3. $1.1m seems correct. If the salary rises by 30% then salaries across the board should rise by that much. We have to pay a minimum of the cap and have to have ~38 players on the senior list. Do you think we'll keep Hogan at $800k and bump up a couple of others like Watts and TMac to $800k too? So they get a pay rise but Hogan doesn't? It makes no sense.
  4. Thats what I thought too - how could you! No way would I be able to concentrate and would just feel sick the whole time.
  5. If you make a decision that he is worth X under salary cap Y then if salary cap Y rises by 5% for example then his salary would too. The number of players on the list aren't changing so any rise in the salary cap is going to be commensurate to the rise in player salaries. Do you think if we offered him X and the salary cap increased by 5% his manager wouldn't come back with X+5% anyway? Or are we going to lowball them and say, nup X is our offer?
  6. Essendon don't have a key defender though. Mitchell Brown? Their other onews is Hartley a 1st gamer and Gwilt
  7. You on the happy pills mate? Haha Eeyore is dead and buried
  8. That's clearly wrong - they've coached a flag each against each other!
  9. On the day you wouldn't care but looking back on it, memorabilia etc would be a little off without the traditional red and blue
  10. Surely they could build in a clause where his salary is a % of the cap regardless of what it turns out be
  11. 34 suspended and 12 still at Essendon
  12. Lighten up mate it's just footy
  13. If he doesn't break Fanning's record he's not trying
  14. Yeah that made me roll my eyes too. We've improved, sure, but that's a hell of a long way from being "elite"
  15. I'm talking about from Hogan's side - why open negotiations knowing there was a CBA around the corner then use that as an excuse to delay?
  16. I'd rather see Brayshaw in for OMac and either Frost/Pedersen sent back (likely Pedersen). We were too tall last week anyway and clogged the forward line.
  17. Of course but it happened with the Saints in 2010. They would have changed to their traditional guernsey after the game and pre-ceremony. Pretty annoying when the players just want to celebrate.
  18. So then why did they open negotiations in the first place? The point of my post was to respond to those who thought it was "mutual" and the club wouldn't be upset with putting talks on hold. The club would sign him up now for life if they could.
  19. They've also got Pav & Sandliands to retire (Johnson & Mundy too?)
  20. I'll care if we are forced to wear them in a finals series. Of course if we win a flag I'll be delirious anyway but it will be a shame if we have to raise the cup in a white uniform instead of our traditional navy blue with red yolk.
  21. No, but they are more profitable than the home games against Freo, Port, Suns, Giants etc that we get every single year.
  22. The AFL's rationale was that "red" is a dark colour, not a light one and we need a "light" colour for a clash guernsey. Somehow Essendon gets away with having their normal jumper with grey and a wider red sash - not sure how that qualifies as "light". May be part of the reason we never get a home game against them as stupid as that sounds.
  23. Haha yeah don't worry about that he just turned 3 but is brainwashed - has been running around the house singing "It's A Grand Old Flag" to himself since I took him to the game on Saturday. Got another one at home too, both signed up within days of birth.
  24. BTW I listen to the MFC podcast every week, you guys are doing a great job and great to get the club on board with providing players. Top effort!
