  1. Lucky we just signed him for 3 years then (As you can tell, not in a good place with this club right now)
  2. Maybe not disgraceful - bemusing? I am completely bemused by this decision.
  3. He's 21 and has had no experience playing in the AFL. He may not be a "kid" but he is under developed. What has he proven? Why does he get a pass straight to the seniors when others are made to "bang down the door" in the VFL (the way it should be)? I'm highly suspect of this decision, of course I'd love to be proven wrong but it doesn't fill me with confidence, in fact I can see it being a disaster if he has only 5-10 touches, is towelled up and made to look like a fool by one of their bigger forwards and panics under pressure causing even more turnovers in our back half (our achilles heel).
  4. Exactly - what happened to making the kids earn their spots? Just more throwing in those who aren't ready to the wolves. Good luck to the guy and congrats to him but as far as the club goes this is a disgraceful decision.
  5. Since the other thread has been locked (why?) I'll comment here - wtf is going on at this club? Who is Wagner and why are we bringing in more under-developed kids? He's had one good game (apparently) in a VFL practice match and looked all at sea in the NAB Challenge games. They better hope they pull their collective finger out on Sunday. With Garland out you would assume Dunn and Frost both play so does that mean Grimes, Stretch and Oliver miss out? Or are we moving Pedersen from CHF and playing short up front? Because we can't be going in undersized again down back after getting monstered by Daniher last week. I'll watch with anticipation to see 1) how the players front up after last week and 2) what the coaches do with regards to match-ups and positional changes on the day. They need a rocket because a lot of supporters are teetering on the brink of chucking it in after last week. 10 years of [censored], we need something.
  6. People can accept criticism when it's backed with facts but when it doesn't make sense we should just accept it because of who said it?
  7. It's only round 2 and I haven't wanted any piece of footy this week (except on here) - haven't wanted to watch any of the footy shows, 360, Footy Classified, On The Couch, Open Mike haven't wanted to read any of the papers, none of it. Just the thought of it is turning my stomach.
  8. Might explain a bit
  9. A 15 minutes of silence podcast may have been apt this week and pretty funny albeit a waste of bandwidth. Hmm on second thoughts may not want to set a precedent though
  10. This is what I don't get. You know you're coming up against a side with a point to prove, they're rallying their supporters pre-game and have a parade of legends coming out. Surely you want to come out and put your foot on their throat from the opening bounce so they go into their shells instantly and don't get a sniff. Snuff out their hopes in the first 10 minutes before they even have a chance to get going and then you can cruise in the 3rd/4th quarters if you're far enough ahead. I just don't get how professional athletes wouldn't come out with this mindset. We used to do it in under 13'some ffs.
  11. I think he is being played out of position - we have tried to make him into a bullocking "Plugger" type forward when he should be a roaming CHF. Get him up the ground, let him work his opponent over and double back into space.
  12. OK fair enough, I haven't watched that in years
  13. Watts was completely different, drafted as an underage kid, still in VCE, hadn't played under 18's etc - then you've got the marketing BS the club did Having said that no I wouldn't bring in Weideman, maybe towards the end of the year for a game or two like OMac last year unless he's banging down the door in the VFL.
  14. I agree with keeping him off air, but has he even been on air except for that one pre-training interview following the Saints NAB game? I don't think they're running around using him as a marketing tool in the media, no more than other young players.
  15. They are not a business they are a not for profit organisation. The only ones profiting are the executives who line their pockets making commercial decisions. Corruption? Nah
  16. I was furious watching the game on Saturday, absolutely furious. Moreso than I have been watching a game of footy for some time. It was worse than 186 or 148 because in those games I was just kinda numb to what was going on as it was an utter capitulation. This was different. If the Melbourne players had have tried with just a fraction more effort than they showed we would have won by 5 goals no problem. What is worrisome is the team seems incapable of setting things back on course after a poor start. Quarter time/half time/ 3/4 time all offered a chance to reset and go again but each quarter we came out with more of the same. When we did get a couple in a row and hit the lead in the 2nd and 4th quarters the players again seemed to revert to cruise control and think it would just happen again. It reminds of our start to last year in a way - beat GC in round 1, capitulate to GWS in round 2. Lets see how they back up this week, if they can bring the effort to North and take the game up to them I'll be happy win, lose or draw and it will set up our next month off footy. If they bring the same tired, lazy attitudes it's gonna be another long year.
  17. The umpires are blatantly trying to get Essendon up - it's a joke Melbourne are pathetic pull your [censored] finger out you lazy [censored]

  20. Just [censored] smash them
  21. When was the last time a Demon kicked double figures? Gazza vs the Dogs in the 94 finals? Farmer and Neitz scored 9 each (vs Pies and Tiges respectively) can't remember anyone kicking 10.
  22. BF is a huge site and there is some really great posters/threads if you know where to look.
  23. Heard he had similar issues at North. But also heard he worked nights at Bunnings while on their rookie list to make ends meet for his family so you can't judge someone on hearsay alone I guess.
  24. How will we pay the mandatory 95% of the cap if we don't bump up player salaries in line with the increase? NBA salary doesn't have a floor does it?
