He (Oliver) seemed to be on the bench most of the first quarter so maybe were saving him for later in the game? He definitely set up at least one goal out of the middle with his vision, strength to stand up in the tackle and repeat effort.

Must back it up next to week, but yes was a superb all round game. Just gotta iron out some of those turnovers and get the younger kids fitness up to allow the high intensity pressure we saw in the first quarter for the entire game.

Yep that's me. To be fair I don't think I ran him down though more just worried about putting in an untried kid. Couldn't have asked for a better effort today.

Today is ripe for him to turn it on. He had a stinker last year Queens bday when Frost towelled him up but redeemed it in the return game where he was one of our key players. If he can play like he did in the 2nd quarter last week for the whole game he'll be in for a big one.

Interesting to see where they play him. He's been playing in defence in VFL from memory and with Cloke, Moore and Howe forward I can't see him playing there. They'll use him to double-team/cut in front of Hogan hopefully our players make him accountable.

I'm pretty confident about today which in turn makes me nervous as hell and think we're gonna get rolled. It's a vicious cycle. Yep I don't think they've under-performed, I think they've been massively over-rated. Sure Treloar has been a fantastic pick up for them but Aish is still unproven at senior level and Howe is massively over-rated as we well know. They've got some older players still slowing down, some younger players still not quite there and with Swan and Elliott out for extended periods this year I can't see them finishing any better than last year let alone making finals. We should take care of them comfortably (similar to last years win against them) but we all know what should happen and what does with Melbourne rarely coincides.

Quite ridiculous especially considering with any academy/FS picks a team like Carlton or Brisbane may finish 2nd last and end up with something like pick 7 or 8. I wonder if other clubs will kick up a stink about any draft concessions the Bombers get like they did when we applied for a PP.

If they leave as free agents they will be Delisted Free Agents which don't attract compensation. Unless the AFL decides to make up rules on the fly. Which they almost certainly will.

Another great episode guys, the chat with "Chopper" Lovell was awesome. If you can ever track down the great one (Allen Jakovich) and get him to record an interview you'll shoot straight to the top of the charts that week guaranteed! Would have to be an hour long ep though. Extra points if you can get him to do a Trial By Video rendition of Mustang Sally.

Interestingly an article in the paper the other day talked about the Crows targeting Hurley and speaking to him last week when he was over there visiting his mate, Josh Jenkins. It mentioned he also went to the Showdown while over there.

Imagine what Oliver will do once he gets up to 85-90% game time! This kid is a freak. Unfortunately though you can't have more than one player who can't run out a game. They may still be effective but it limits what other players are able to do due to having to compensate for their time on the bench. It will make it harder for the team to run out games. Won't be too long though until we see them ripping games apart. I'm looking forward to the second half of the season with hopefully a fit and firing Oliver, Brayshaw and Petracca joining Viney and Max Gawn in the middle.

They'll be wary after playing both Brayshaw and Oliver against the Bombers. It's too costly to play guys who can't run out the game and we'll want to make sure we give ourselves the best chance of winning the next 3 games.

The application is now there in spades and he seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders. He is a massive cult figure and his form since working back into the seniors last year has been phenomenal. Lets hope he can keep it up, if he does he will be the premier ruckman in the comp in a couple of years.

The way HE analyses the game is pretty rudimentary but there needs to be more analysis in the media. At least he's having a go.

They should only bring him in when he can run out a game. If he's still not playing a full VFL game that tells me he's still a few weeks off.

Only if he made contact. Stupid to put himself in that position but if he didn't touch him or only glanced him surely a reprimand is sufficient. If this was a Selwood or Mitchell no way would they have copped time. Edit - especially considering his record.
