MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 7
Dr. Gonzo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surprised ANB still can't get a run. Happy Oliver's back. -
Is Tom McDonald tradable at the end of 2016?
Dr. Gonzo replied to Adam The God's topic in Melbourne Demons
Everyone's tradeable. Problem with McDonald is what would we get back? Probably not what we want and we don't have another big KPD to step into his role. So from that angle I'd say no but we do need to trade in or draft some more KPD's as we are already one short. I don't think his brothers gonna do the trick, Dunn is undersized and in the Twilight of his career - Frost needs to be tried back there but nor confident on him either .- 176 replies

That's what the cauldrons for

I thought it was a 4 year contract when he came over?
-
Frost has to be dropped. Oliver has to come in. Harmes/Hunt also on the chopping block would like to see ANB get a run or Stretch given another go. He only had one game before being dropped from memory and he wasn't too bad.
-
Anyone know how many years?
-
I agree it would be a mistake but I don't think they'd be doing it with their "eyes lighting up" - the reason would be with so many clubs now bidding for licences Gil and the AFL wouldn't want to get any of them off-side. It's the hallmark of his administration trying to please everybody, we've seen it several times already. The guy is a lightweight and the sooner he is replaced by someone competent who is not afraid to stand up to the big clubs the better.

We also both belonged to the Craig Cameron Club of recruitment
-
Every Vic club obviously
-
Every club has at least one home game there, even Collingwood, Richmond etc - the Tigers played the Crows there a few weeks ago.
-
The amount of injuries they've got? If we're serious, I think we should win this game. It's not taking them for granted it's looking at the teams on paper and saying this team should beat that one.
-
Did they? Seems not - their aim was to be good enough to make finals knowing it wouldn't get much better. Are they delusional? Check out this post from BF;
-
Short turn around - Saints played the same day as us last week. Inability to play Etihad - this is a flaw, not an excuse Way the Saints match up on us - they play well against us but don't think its due to match-ups - they play smarter than us Beat the Suns next week - dunno, you're probably right but it won't prove much in my eyes. We should beat the Suns next week so it won't be some crowning achievement. It should be the expectation.
-
This year, yeah - but the last 4 or so years? Don't disagree with any of that. I was just pointing out that we underperform more frequently than time to time.
-
I predicted 2/3 and predicted we would beat Tiges/Pies and lose to Saints. Doen't mean I'm "happy" though. After the Bombers game I said the only thing that could redeem that horrible effort was putting in a good showing against North and winning the 3 games after that. We came close, but we failed - so in my eyes we are still behind the 8 ball. We should be 4-2 now but we are 3-3. So somewhere along the line we still need to make up a game. Our next 4 games are GC (away) Dogs & Lions (both G) and Port (NT). We have to win 3 of those to be back to par for the season in my eyes. I don't think the Saints game was a disaster - it was poor but it wasn't doomsday. I thought we would probably split our games with them so if we can beat them later in the season it would be about par.
-
Thats rubbish, they should have let you in. You ARE a Melbourne member, albeit through the AFL with MFC club support.

Concussed at the end of the 3rd after clashing heads with Viney - Salem looked away with the fairies on the bench while Viney was competing at the next centre bounce. Maybe another one for the "Viney made me cry" thread
-
I know what they're trying to do with Salem and agree with the strategy to an extent, but I think it's time to free him up a bit and play him on a wing or forward flank. I think we're robbing Peter to pay Paul a little here and it's not really working. He is a great attacking and ferocious mid who can kick a goal but at the moment he's been run around by the opposition and has been only mildly effective.
-
Twice in 5 games isn't "time to time" though, it's 40% of games. Not saying things won't improve but that's how things are as they stand.
-
Every club will be targeting Hurley, we can have a crack but I'll believe it when I see it
-
I think he likes playing at Docklands- kicked 6 there last year as well didn't he?
-
First game at this level, never even played a preseason game before. What did you expect? I thought he showed a bit at least he got his hands on the footy and got to contests. He'll get better.
-
Well this is disappointing. Whately and McLure absolutely savaged us on 774 during the third quarter. Seems like we were just downhill skiing and leaving loose men in their forward line (Riewoldt!) even from stoppages. What is going on? Sounds like we were soundly beaten in the coaches box today. We came out all guns blazing in the first with frenetic pressure and running. Surely we didn't just tire ourselves out? Saints are a young side so no excuses there. They are a pacey side and especially at Etihad- the decision to keep both Frost and Pedersen and leave out Oliver or ANB was extremely costly.

If North and Dogs are 2 best teams in it ...
Dr. Gonzo replied to whers_jacka_now's topic in Melbourne Demons
At least when we just bomb it long inside 50 we have a key forward to target. -
Spewing I can't make it today, hopefully a big contingent of Demons supporters shows up to support the team though. We really should win but I'm not confident enough yet to go into a game expecting the 4 points. Saints always seem to show up against us as well against and will be disappointed with their last quarter fade out against the Giants last week. Hopefully Riewoldt and Montagna are both underdone. Riewoldt has been playing on the wing so will be interesting to see who goes with him. Would expect TMac to go with Bruce. If we can win the ruck/clearances we should go a long way towards winning here but need to watch out for their pace. I reckon Hogan and Garlett will have good games and Viney and Gawn to roll on with their MVP form. Demons under 39.5
