  1. Haha yep it was definitely gonna be grab the fork and toaster time to quote Supermercado
  2. I think they'd be disappointed guys like Garland and Dunn haven't stepped up as they might have hoped. Adding those two (at their peak) back into the defense would add significant experience to what is a nursery of a backline.
  3. We used to turn up thinking getting within 10 goals was a good effort. More often than not it was 80-100 point beltings.
  4. See my last post - we didn't use the Diamond Defence once yesterday from what I saw.
  5. Yep, same as our loss against Port. I also noted that we didn't institute the "Diamond Defence" once yesterday, not as far as I could tell anyway. We were man on man back there at every centre bounce.
  6. Only the narrow minded would change their views based on the week to week performance of the side. Over the long term the trajectory is pointing up and should continue over the next few years.
  7. I thought we had taken the momentum from them at the end of the 3rd/start of the 4th. The free/report against Hogan followed by 2 quick goals killed the game for us.
  8. For all the whinging on here we were in it up to our necks up until the 10 minute mark of the last. The turning point came when we got within a kick, won the clearance and had Watts streaming forward. He kicked it on top of Hogan who was being held and in frustration threw an elbow back. It collected the Saints player in the head and he won a free. Instead of Hogan lining up right in front to put us in front it went down the other end for a 12 point turnaround. Another quick goal to them and it was suddenly 3 goals the difference again. One of them also happened after Grimes failed to kill the contest. A frustrating game but we were in it up to the last and they just worked harder and pressured more than us. Their tackles stuck while ours let them get a possession away. They always had a guy hanging out the back as well usually Weller who opened us up on the transition.
  9. Yep the loopy handballs need to go. The skipper did one in the first quarter ando there were several more throughout the day. And just always getting in one too many.
  10. They lifted a notch after quarter time applying pretty frantic pressure and we couldn't/wouldnt match their work rate. Same as last time we played them.
  11. He's a vegetarian, it can't help.
  12. Yep - the measure isn't just winning a flag although that of course is the ultimate aim. Building a list/culture/club that can seriously challenge (ie repeat top 4 finishes) for a number of years gives you the best chance to win a flag. I think Roos has helped do that but of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating .
  13. Yes, if not a great coach (which I would dispute) he is easily the best leader the club has had since Smith, the person driving the direction of the entire club (in conjunction with PJ).
  14. Terlich and Matt Jones 3rd and 4th B&F says it all
  15. Clarkson sits comfortably alongside Smith and McHale as one of the best coaches of all time. Comparing Roos to that standard is a bit unfair.
  16. Apples and oranges look at what Roos inherited compared to Beveridge, one of the worst run clubs on and off field in the history of the game.
  17. You're talking about personnel Roos has instilled structure, culture and belief - completely different.
  18. With what they each had to work with Northey overachieved and Danners underachieved I think.
  19. He's not our most successful but he is the "best" coach we've had guiding us since the Golden Era.
  20. Winning anywhere has been a rare occurrence. The money is not meaningless if we want to thrive not just survive.
  21. He still has his moments but overall it's just "clicked" for him this year. He gets it now.
  22. In the short term but in the long term those shekels will allow us to be more competitive on a more regular basis than we otherwise would be. 10/11 flags won by clubs in the top quartile for FD spending according to The Guardian article on the Hawks linked in the other thread.
  23. I asked earlier but you may have missed it - how many members do we convert from these NT games? I can't imagine it's too much but am genuinely interested.
