  1. If we get up against the Cats the Giants will also be playing for a top 4 spot so they'll have almost as much riding on the game as North. EDIT: Assuming results go our way this weekend - don't want to get ahead of myself
  2. Haha was gonna say that list is way off the mark - no Oliver for a start! Daniher, Grundy, Vlastuin puh-lease!!!!
  3. Cheer GWS but Scully still cops the boos and abuse? That would be funny
  4. I wish there was more footage of Barassi in the red and blue. I always figured Michael Voss would be the best modern comparison, would this be accurate?
  5. I love Jayden Hunt. There I said it. This kid has been a revelation, one not many saw coming (from memory Redleg was a fan of his after seeing him tear it up at training last year/over preseason). Whether he gets a RS nomination or not is really irrelevant because he's going to be a damaging player for us for the next decade.
  6. Yep - and for all the talk of needing pace, if you can move the footy quickly by hand or foot it doesn't matter so much ho fast your players can sprint. Hawthorn prove this.
  7. That goal by Hassa Mann though....
  8. I uploaded that to Youtube after receiving it in a trade for some other footy tapes. I've got a few other pieces from the 60's too however nothing before this unfortunately so it's all from the post Barassi/Smith glory era.
  9. Something I've noticed over the last couple of weeks is that our handballs in close and to release a player out of congestion have been exceptional. There has been nowhere near as much handballing to stationary targets and the handballs have been quickfire releases from one player to another and another until someone is in space. This seems to have really clicked for us and is a sign of 1) higher workrate and players being constantly on the move around stoppages and 2) more confidence in their teammates to keep control of the footy meaning they shoot handballs off without hesitating.
  10. I miss those days, as a kid, being able to go down into the changerooms beneath the old red seat members area to watch our heroes warm up before the big game. They were OUR changerooms too, Richmonds and Norths rooms were next door from memory (under the blue seats), the interlopers hadn't quite imposed themselves on our ground yet. Then afterwards heading up to grab one of those massive flags from the cheersquad to annoy all the people sitting around me for the day by accidentally waving it in their face.
  11. The Swans game is in Hobart
  12. Was watching the replay last night and caught the interview with Max Gawn at half time. It was heartening to hear how much praise he had for Goodwin and McCartney, relieves some of the angst about the handover as well as about McCartney considering the fallout he had with some of the senior players at the Dogs.
  13. Was just thinking yesterday, footy is actually exciting again. Not just enjoyable but actually exciting. Peter Jackson and Paul Roos (as well as the support cast of coaches/recruiters) cannot be thanked enough.
  14. That was a Queens Birthday game - I was only 7 at the time but went with my dad who had got some kind of corporate tickets I think because we were sat up the top undercover near the coaches box on a crappy Melbourne winters day. The ground was a mudheap but we beat them pretty convincingly from memory with Garry Lyon starring. I think I scored the Monday Night Replay of that game a couple of years ago.
  15. There was one piece of play where he tried the little tap on to Petracca on the forward flank and it didn't come off. I think he's trying too hard at the moment and is struggling mentally with it. I still have no doubt he'll come good and is still a key player for us now and moving forward. His best is still as a roaming CHF and I'd love to see him get a game with Weideman and Watts all playing together too. Too be honest I'm more concerned with Garlett's form at the moment, he's been off the boil for a month now. Hogan is still a developing KPP who has managed to kick 40 goals in both seasons. He's going through a drop in form at the moment but I'm not worried about him. There's things he needs to work on (his set shot technique and focusing on the fundamentals) but that doesn't mean he's not earning his spot.
  16. He also has one hand (his left?) far too high up on the ball. Could be an issue with him dropping the ball with his left hand to his right boot. He runs on an arc when he's 40+ out too meaning he swings his leg across his body trying to get extra distance which results in hooking the ball. It's all round a horrible action/technique and while it may "come good" both he and the coaches would be derelict in their duty if they didn't try to rectify it.
  17. It seems to be worse when he's lining up from 40+. Not sure why a guy with his physique can't kick 50 with ease, it has to be all technique.
  18. There's one that's missing from your list Win the premiership
  19. I agree. (Rigoni and Tingay were a few years off though.) Love your prediction at the end I think everyone would collectively lose their [censored] if that happened haha The worst part will be if we do go ahead and win the extra two we'll have to wait til that night to find out our destiny - it's why all games in the last round should be 2pm Saturday (as far as feasible)
  20. Petition the AFL to shift the Cats game to somewhere where more than a handful of hillbillies and their sheep can watch the game.
  21. Me too - I logged on to ticketmaster last night to see how much tickets down at Geelong would be - seems we'll be stuck watching that one in pubs or at home, nothing available as far as I can find.
  22. Just beat Carlton by 10 goals and as long as the Kangas lose their games our fate should be in our own hands.
