  1. Yep they probably don't want the situation of having Maloney on the calendar and then being traded before the years even begun.
  2. It's all bluff, most players won't sit out a year or more if they don't like the club that drafted them.
  3. Yeah, probably the same response I got when I emailed MFC asking for details of our submission regarding "equalisation" several years ago. Geelong posted theirs on their website, the Bulldogs one was also made public but I have no idea what the MFC or any other club suggested to the AFL/working party. Nb. Cats/Dogs submissions linked below for anyone who cares http://s.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL Tenant/GeelongCats/Club HQ/GFC Equalisation for Web Feb 2013.pdf http://s.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL Tenant/WesternBulldogs/Articles/General 2013/Final210213_WesternBulldogsEqualisationPaperSubmission.pdf
  4. I can't imagine Sheedy drafting small/skinny outside players like Morton, Blease, Strauss, Maric, Gysberts, Cook hell even Watts.
  5. I agree, it was a joke - the person said any idiot could have done it and I agreed
  6. This is straying off-topic, but do you think Sheedy would have taken the same "type" of players as we recruited under Bailey? Think about it.
  7. His name is Stephen Silvagni and he's currently doing the same job at the Blues.
  8. Why would there be questions at our next AGM? This current admin was not in place when the concessions were determined. And good luck to you if you think the AFL gives one stuff about what you or I think. Like the hundreds of thousands/millions around the world who protested the invasion and occupation of Iraq - that worked out well didn't it....
  9. At least West Coast, Adelaide and Port came from footy states with mad support while the Lions and Swans had the old Fitzroy and South supporters. A Giants win on GF day will just be so hollow and mean nothing. How could their supporters (the few they have) get any joy or satisfaction out of a flag within a matter of years from entering the comp? They haven't done it the hard way or through smart management - it's just been gifted to them. The only ones cheering will be the AFL and channel 7 execs while the rest of the competition will die a little.
  10. Plus the mini draft concessions and from memory they also had access to more 17yo picks than GC - not to mention being given the Riverina as part of their Academy.
  11. They had more concessions than GC plus GC have struggled with injuries. Had Ablett, Omeara, Prestia and Swallow all been playing 20 games a season they would be challenging as well.
  12. Hunt was easily the most consistent out of the lot (Petracca, Oliver, Harmes and OMac). They may have had individual games where they performed better but across the season he was easily the best.
  13. Especially considering he didn't debut until round 4. Could've finished ~8th had he debuted round 1. Barassi never won it?
  14. Doesn't our situation prove that we didn't actually need a priority pick but rather to get ourselves right off field? The best the AFL could do would be to help the Lions with their new facility, get some off field stability and help with debt reduction/off field marketing. A priority pick probably won't do much for them, not in the short term at least.
  15. I couldn't care either way if they get one. If it was another Vic club I might be outraged but let's be honest Brisbane are a basketcase and noone wants that. The only thing is I doubt it will help much - they need their off field sorted out as a priority. They've got the academies to address the go home factor but it will take time. A PP this year won't do jack unless they trade it out for a ready to go player or downgrade it ala the Tyson/Salem deal and get a 2 for 1
  16. Rubbish, Ralph is a one eyed tiger and an idiot to boot
  17. Obviously with how rubbish Freo have been I haven't seen much of them this year. Barlow is one who I thought struggled and spent time in the WAFL but according to the age article he was dropped for 2 weeks and came back with 2 months of solid form before being injured Would like us to have a crack at him if there's a chance. North was mentioned as one club looking at him which is strange considering they've basically indicated they'll be in full rebuild mode.
  18. They'll have the home game only, GA membership which gets you access into the ground but you have to sit in GA areas (ie not MFC reserved seat areas).
  19. They made a PF in 2004 and SF in 2005 before dropping off in 2006 and rebounding in 2007 though.
  20. Any love for this guy? He's on the move from Freo and was a key part of their dominant side over the last several years. Is 28 (or will be next season) so is getting on and struggled this year but so did the entire Freo side. Not sure if its due to him being on the decline, the club as a whole or Freo's inability to restructure their gameplan to suit the changes to the rules and faster, higher scoring games. I would look at him if for nothing other than to have another big bodied guy around the contest while the likes of Oliver, Brayshaw and Petracca continue to develop. I can't imagine Freo wanting too much for him but they probably would prefer draft picks over players. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-09-01/soughtafter-michael-barlow-set-for-talks-on-future-with-fremantle http://www.theage.com.au/afl/fremantle-dockers/fremantles-michael-barlow-all-but-declares-hes-leaving--victorian-clubs-keen-20160901-gr637s.html
  21. No doubt, I think Pedersen is severely underrated. I was astonished he was dropped following the Port game. He is a far superior option to Dawes (who is or should be gone) and any of our other senior players like Dunn or Garland.
  22. Richmond dropped him for the final last year and went with Griffiths and Vickery instead from memory. I reckon that was the start of the falling out between club and player as he'd been in some good form to that point. Hardwick outsmarted himself and the Tiges lost the game.
  23. You can demand whatever you want and the market will dictate whether you're worth it.
  24. We should be looking for big bodied experienced players to protect and guide some of the kids as they come through. Vickery would be good in this aspect as a foil for Hogan and while Weideman comes through as well as providing a proper chop-out for Gawn. Obviously it looks like the ship has sailed as he's off to the Hawks. I also think Brent Harvey would be a good get if he was interested for the same reasons. We've got the nucleus of young talent there, we need to top up with experienced players (to replace those we have who are getting to the end or under-performing) and keep replenishing with a few young kids each year in the draft. I hope we're able to somehow upgrade a pick to top 10 or top 20 at the least because without our first rounder and potentially trading our 2nd to the Bombers for Hibberd means this year could be a nothing draft for us which I don't think we can afford despite our recent recruiting (and taking into account our pick upgrade to get Oliver/Weideman in last year).
