TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 3
Dr. Gonzo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah they had Stanley last week too. Was more for boundary throw ins and around the ground ball ups they showed it on 360 when Scott was on on Monday -
TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 3

Interesting tactics cats used last well letting the Kangas go up uncontested in the ruck wondering if they'll do the same this week. If they do we really need to take advantage - no use tapping it to the feet of the contest and letting them have a plus one around the footy -
They have to change it to protect poor clubs, at least for earlier draft picks. 2+1+1 contracts for draftees so clubs don't get stuck with a dud for 4 years if they draft a Lucas Cook.

I think it's clear he's not enjoying his footy. Physically he should be fine mentally he is shot

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 3

The cats just seem to match up well on the dogs. Dogs supporters didn't want to face cats in September -
TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 3

The Cats are gettable and they don't play Etihad well. Lost to Saints & Blues there last year and only just got over the line last week. Danger and Selwood are the worry so the midfield battle will be crucial. Guys like those mentioned above (Menegola, Thurlow, McCarthy etc) aren't terrible but not world beaters either. My wife is a Cats fan so I watch a bit of them. When they're on they're good but they've been pretty flaky since 2014 (2nd after H&A last year flattered them) -
Yep - you can't make an omelette without hairline fracturing some jaws or something
-
>40k would set a good foundation for the next few years. If we can get it right onfield we should look to consolidate that to 45k and eventually 50k over the next 5 years or so.

Wouldn't mind seeing how Petracca goes at full forward even in bursts
-
The footage I saw they both looked like closed fists. Hogan may have a case to get it down to 1 or 0 (if it was an open palm) but Lewis I'm afraid not.
-
I wonder if Hogan's would've been less severe if Lewis wasn't cited too. Of course every action should be assessed on its merits but we know the AFL doesn't work that way.
-
Going for the head is just dumb. No way you'll get off these days with all the concussion issues. Even hits to the stomach are unlikely to be viewed lightly, pretty sure they said they'll scrutinise that more this year.
-
Hogan was waiting for the kick to come in so he could argue it's "in play" though I don't think that matters anymore with the new system - does it?
-
On what basis can they appeal? They both punched a player in the face behind the play.
-
Yeah we almost doubled the possession count I think it was 150 to 80 at quarter time. Should've put them away early.
-
Geelong, Freo then Tigers. Legit chance to be 4-1 going into the Bombers game (and they didn't look too scary last night)
-
In the post match he made a comment about it being a little closer than we would've liked. Makes me think some of the guys incl Watts expected to turn up and win today. Hopefully they got a reality check

We have to learn to snuff teams like this out by half time, foot to the throat kind of stuff. You give them a sniff and they'll lift a cog. But you know, baby steps. Last year we would've lost this
-
They got on top in the middle and co trolled the game from there. We couldn't win a clearance in 2nd and 3rd quarters. I said last week I'd be interested to see how our gameplan stacked up if we were beaten in the centre. Well today we saw it, fortunately not to many ruckmen will be able to nullify Gawn. So happy with the last quarter though, we just found a way to win when we had to. The Mac's were solid down back all day and Hogan kept running up forward. Salem was phenomenal all day and Garlett was the difference with 3 which was sweet too. Not a game you'll go back and watch down the track but for now very happy with the 4 points and 2-0.

They both looked like closed fists to me which if they were means they'll be in trouble

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Dr. Gonzo replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The saints got spooked when Boyd went to the dogs for a million a season. They were gonna have a crack at him the following year when he came out of contract. The price tag made them think taking a key forward early is better than trying to trade one in and selling the farm in the process. -
They smashed us in the midfield last year and we couldn't arrest the momentum after they jumped us. This year I'm more confident our mids wobt allow themselves to get overpowered in the middle and if they do we have the ability to turn things around like we did last week

Yes I copped the 5am wakeup too - extra hours sleep yeah right!
