  1. Adam I would have thought that being our most potent forward was working for it
  2. Excellent post, although I prefer to think that ignorance shows out rather than silencing these critics. Robbo, has been a wonderful player for us, I think that he has been one of the best half forward flankers we have produced and has also been the heart and soul of the club over a fairly turbulent period. During that time he has learnt to kick and constantly been played in key position roles to which he is unsuited. In short he made the best of his abilit. Rather than criticise his lack of chasing, perhaps some of his teammates could have supported him better in this regard. Yes, this could be his final year, but you treasure these players who have not quite reached the heights of Barrassi. Flower or Lyons

  4. Exactly, I don't post that often either but the hijacking of the whole sight by the tanking brigade is becoming ridiculous. Another thread, started by Rojik of Antartic just wanted to celebrate the win against Port Scum, but we got the moaners and wingers in the guise of tacticians telling us how aweful the win was. I have no problem with evaluating the pros and cons of tanking but could we keep it to dedicated threads. otherwise we could counter hijack the tanking brigade with a Pollyanna onslaught.
  5. Excellent idea for a post. There are times when supporters should be able to savour precious and in our case rare victories. And there was a lot to be excited about, the sheer talent of Jurrah, the poise and potential of Jetta, the solidity of Warnock, the toughness of Frawley, the remergence of Maloney and Rivers, Robbo's contribution as a premier half forward flanker, the emergence of Jamar and polish Grimes and Pettard. We should be able to discuss these, and in a not unbiased fashion. Whatever the relative merits of tanking, and I am undecided on the issue. Couldn't we leave these arguments to dedicated posts. Anyway Rojik, a worthwhile try.
  6. So tell me, do you want to sack the coach at a time when the club is at the bottom of a rebuilding cycle? There are many good things happening at Melbourne, not least being the reformation of the club under Stynes and the healing of deep rifts in the club. For the first time in a number of years the off field support is starting to be effective. I think it would be the very worst time to be sacking coaches. What does Hardwick have to offer?
  7. To misquote John Lennon "all we are saying is give juice a chance" I am not sure that worked either.
  8. I'm pretty surly about the game myself
  9. I remember the 64 GF when Gabelich made that run, I was on the top level of the Northern Stand, then, out of the shadows Crompton dobbed one. We had tickets for all the finals so we saw the wobblies in the previous finals, their toothless ones were devestated. Fortunately the Stockholm syndrome didn't apply.
  10. So many options- Colliwobble- the old enemy Carlton cheating the system can buy a premiership. Still haven't forgotten Spalding Hawthorn -Dipperdemeneco - thug Essendon Long see above All interstate clubs - should be playing in their own sand pits. Swans/ Lions used to be proper football clubs until relocated to Rugby League territory But my ultimate choice is West Coast- they a manufactured team of the worst type. For all their faults, and there are many, at least Sydney Adelaide and Brisbane represent an identifiable georgahic location. West Coast could be from San Fransico, Los Angeles or even a brand of jeans
  11. Can anyone tell me about Rohan Bail's progress?
  12. I agree, the thread is as premature as announcements of an economic recovery. If Whelan is uninjured he adds bight and class to the backline, Wheatley adds versatility to the side. Robo, in my opinion is the one of the best half forward flankers the club has produced, and I have seen Vagg, Hassa Mann and a few others.I think that Flower and Farmer were his peers. I think you should save the delistings/ retirements speculayion until the season nears its end.
  13. I think this is a great suggestion. I am Treasurer of the Canberra Demons, and I hope we could use this thread to post advance notice of any after game functions for those travelling interstate as well.
  14. Perhaps, but I think that it is more important to build a long term relationship with your sponsor rather than look at the short term . At the moment Melbourne is comparatively less marketable than some of the other clubs in terms of on field success, supporter base membership demographics etc. With the things the present Committee have in mind this will eventually change and the brand will inevitably become more expensive. However in view of the current economic climate I would be looking at a sponsor who will be around for a while- for example Insolvency accountants .
