Cale has trouble keeping bulk on when all the aerobic work starts. It's simply his physiology. I imagine he will never be bulked up enough for some here. It's really his strength that's crucial. So he has put on bulk/weight/strength over summer but he is not nor ever will be Beemer. As an interesting aside when Bodan(?) got to the club he looked at Sylvia and said " his shape is all wrong". They set about reconstructing Col so that he had more bulk up top and less around the legs/hips. I find it interesting that posters have commented on the lower bulk of guys like Trengove and Morton on light of this....

What, we will look stupid if we play him all year to discover he he already signed with GWS? This thread is ridiculous. Did Rischitelli play doggo this year because he had signed this year for GC17?? No, he won their B&F. Did Gary Ablett play doggo? No, had a great year (didn't win their B&F because their cowardly and hypocritical coach had a personal spat with him) Scully will wait until the $1Billion TV rights deal is complete before negotiating as it is fait accompi that salaries will be skyrocketing. His worth at the end of this year will be a significant multiple of what he could sign for now. His management is doing the right thing by Tom. Now, relax. I don't think I can bear 27 more weeks of this thread!!!!!!!!

Care to re-assess your post Nasher??

Take a Bex and have a good lie down. Wait until the new TV deal is negotiated (it is in train as we speak) then the clubs will know what the 'new' salary levels are likely to be. Remember Woey?? He was our highest paid payer on close to $500k pa. He wasn't worth it but his timing was impeccable. He was coming off a Brownlow, the new TV rights deal had just been negotiated and Freo were after Farmer and Woey offering huge bucks. CLubs thought that they had to pay huge money because of the TV rights induced inflation. Turns out they were wrong but it is similar now. Tom will have played close to 40 games by year end and a potential elite player. If Vlad gets $1Bn then the payers will be demanding a hefty pay rise and the salary cap will be increased significantly It's smart of him & his management. If it works he will catapult himself into the ranks of the teams highest paid. To negotiate now he would possibly be depriving himself of 100s of thousands of dollars. Relax. Have a look at the bigger picture.

Where's the funny bit??

Can we change the ridiculously flaming thread title on this???? 146 posts for a dumb rumour on Big Footy that's touted as fact by the current headline.
-
WOW! A pathetic and TOTALLY unsubstantiated rumour on Big Footy and this site goes into meltdown!
-
The odds are always like this at the start of the year - pathetic. Wait until a couple of rounds in and the money starts to flow. Then the books will be adjusted into more realistic prices. Wait until the Pie fans start ploughing their hard earned on back to back and then the odds will be wound out for the others! I would bet that at some point in the year we will be over 40 to 1 for a flag after we have lost 2 or 3 in a row. As for the 8 we are less than even money and given nearly half the teams will make the 8 we are a good chance. $1.65 seems skinny but not too far from what it should be - maybe $1.85.

Yep. Strange indeed.

I think some other sides know they can beat Melbourne and play accordingly. I remember talking to an ex-player (Ess) from another club who said they loved playing Melbourne because they were pretty soft. Take that for what it was - a throwaway line - but I took it to mean that we were easily physically intimidated. Which I think is generally right. When there is a flare up we don't have an 'enforcer/enforcers' who stand up and create a bit of havoc. Think Dean Wallis I guess. Ess are a club that beat us for a long time and one that I personally hate more than any other club. Last two years we have done OK against them because they are useless but before that it was always painful - even when we were playing well.

There wasn't a spot in October as Bruce was still on the vets list (meaning Campbell couldn't be elevated unless there was a LT injury)

Except for the fact this girl appears to be a pathological liar or a cunning witch whose story changes with the wind. And she wants revenge on the Saints but is threatening to out Carlton and Swans players?? There is no doubt she is a tragic figure and if you had a 16yo like that I'm not sure what you could do to deal with it. She appears to be indiscriminate with her rage. What has NIck Dal Santo done to earn her wrath? Hinch is no holier than though figure either. He does raise some good points but is also happy to use his voice in the media to further his own gains. Welcome to the brave (or not so brave) new world

That has been mentioned a number of times already...

No. And that may be why people have their noses out of joint. The club was very magnanimous towards Bruce when he left. Bruce and Nixon always screwed the club down to the last minute on contract negotiations. As his his right. And it's the club's right to say to him 'we can't guarantee you any particular level of game time' or 'a game'. Or ' you are the highest player on our list by some margin and we are offering you less this year." Clearly I am just guessing on this but it makes sense to me. It's a business and Bruce made a business decision. Leave it be. You'd all do the same in your own jobs when it came time to negotiate. This misguided notion of loyalty went out with Barassi and Norm Smith.

She used to go out with Sam Gilbert and was alleged to have got pregnant by him. According to Roo, the photos were apparently on SG's computer. A bit more worrying is Nicky Dal playing with his wang?!!!

Move on . Nothing to see here.

Ooh that Jurrah's good.....

DNA ??? Isn't that the National Association of Dyslexics...

I hope that's tongue in cheek. So he missed a shot on goal. So Did Pavlich from 30m out and he's a bona fide Champion.
-
Interesting that everyone looks at what he hasn't got. He is what he is. Tall, athletic, fast, and with terrific vision and skills by hand and foot. We all want more than that! We want a J Brown/Ox type of player who dominates games. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. personally I see him as more a Pendlebury type player but one that may come to dominate in the fwd line.

Over 20m.. IN fact he's the fastest at the Club.. Watts the Speedster
-
Watts is the FASTEST player at Melbourne. He might look LACONIC but he can move. According to CC once he learns how to use his speed he will be a force!!! Watts the Flyer

Our options for the second ruck are now pretty varied.. We have used Sylvia and Dunn in the past and I note that Newton has been pushed towards that position in the latter part of last year. I don't like Newton as a player but he has been more effective in a second ruck role than a forward. Add in Martin who is still learning the game, and who can play in defence and is not the write-off that some seem to think then I think we have an incredibly flexible line-up. All this without considering at Gawn, Fitzpatrick, Spencer and Campbell. It seems to be the hallmark of DB that he demands players must be adaptable.
