Jeff Geishen's review of the umpiring on th AFL website specifically refers to 2 instances in the Melb v Coll match where the Dees were wrongfully denied 50m penalties. Once when we were 10 pts down and the other when we are 16 pts down.
COuld well have changed the outcome of the match. We'll never know.
Ray C is a shockingly short man that has major issues with ego.
Was privy to the Carlton pre game speech last year against the Dees and they were very focused on isolating Jared Rivers close to goal. If he went to Waite, he was to drag Rivers back to teh goal square and let everyone else clear out.
It seems to be common knowledge that is how to beat him. A bit like Nick Maxwell I reckon. We though need to be smarter about how we play Rivers. He plays well as the floating defender but against a tall marking defender he is vulnerable.
It's blindingly clear that every team that plays a hard press against us causes us to crumble. We cannot deal with it.
West Coast, Hawthorn, Collingwood, St Kilda, Norf...
Maybe it is rocket science...
You cannot be serious?? Go and watch the last half from Morton. IN particular the last quarter. He was terrible. Doesn't run. DOesn't put body pressure on. He turned away instead of smothering a centering kick from the 50m boundary. Was directly responsible for two goals in the final quarter because he didn't contest bombs into the fwd line.
Doesn't run anywhere near hard enough. Hung Trengove out to dry because he wouldn't run 10m to present when Trenners was coming out of the backline under pressure. His hurried kick fell short and was intercepted by a Pie player.
I'd be happy if he never played another game in the red and blue. If he can't run and put pressure on he doesn't deserve to be in the side. I'd take Nicholson and Evans any day of the week.
I really hope GWS didn't watch this game..
Dunn was easily BOG against Richmond. 3 Brownlow votes, kicked 5 goals and kept Deledio (touted at that point as an AA) to under 10 touches. You have a poor memory of you think he wasn't good in the second half of last year.
They have some talent but their key attribute is they are an incredibly well-drilled side. Look at St Kilda when they were winning. Their top 6 were champs but their bottom 6 were average footballers . Yet they played an exceptionally well drilled game plan and were difficult to beat.
Geelong weren't always champs. A number of their side in 2006 were average footballers. But playing a well drilled system with some champion players and voila the average players look fantastic. Even Hawthorn in 2008 played a great game plan with young well drilled players that weren't at that point champs.
You have to beat the game plan. And maybe the Pies with so many out might struggle to play such a well drilled game. And we have a game style that creates problems for them.
I am picking the Dees.
Go Dees!
Shows what a poor judge you are of footballers and in particular tall skinny ones that are drafted as schoolboys. The fact that you belatedly recognise his talent is more a reflection of you than anything else.
Take a good look at yourself because I'm guessing you are a super keyboard warrior that has never played football at any decent level.
I am super hopeful Cale wants to play out of his skin for the rest of the year and EARN a better contract from the Dees. Haven't seen much of his 'desire' on the field but I hope we do because he could be the complete package if he showed some real commitment to get the pill.
Thanks for the reports guys. Much appreciated.
Interested in Robbie Campbell. Was he moving freely?? He has the smarts and the experience so could be very valuable for us at the Dees....
All the other competitions in the world don't have what we have - a lop sided spread of clubs. We have 10 clubs in Melbourne. ANd the stadium deals we have are not experienced by other codes.
WE DO NOT HAVE AN EVEN COMPETITION. Stop talking trash about salary caps and drafts - If you want equality fix the stadium deals and the fixture.
Bone headed idea.
Malthouse has ZERO credibility. He is a liar. He lied about his comments on Stephen Milne and now he has lied about Addam Maric.
Take this from his article in the Australian:
This whole "cheating" incident has been blown out of proportion. Some media people have turned a molehill into a mountain by singling out the player and my comments. He was never named, as I wasn't specifically talking about him.
BULLTISH.
