Sylvia has never finished in the top 3in the B&F in 8 years. TJ only had 2 top 10 finishes in the B&F in 10 years (a 1st and a 3rd). Sylvia wants the bucks but has not performed. This is not the time with GWS to push the line. But we gotta be realistic - there are likely better offers on the table. Every PLayer Manager will be circling Melbourne players out of contract. Yeah. I am guessing that Hankook has been supporting the club in one capacity or another for a decade or more. Not the major jumper sponsor but certainly as a minor sponsor and benefactor of the club. It's not right that the club P$$$es all over these critical supporters. Hankook aren't the only sponsor I know of who have been totally disillusioned with the club's treatment of them.

I believe it to be true that the club ranks the players in 'bands' according to their market worh, development, draft number etc. By doing so they try to manage the overall player payments issue. I have a hunch it is something to do with this and player performance that might be the cause of the friction. If you think about it Davey and Green are the two highest paid players and have the lowest output - certainly this year. Sylvia is agitating for more and would be within his rights to say "I am performing better than most around here" even though we know it's not consistent etc. So I suspect the BF post might be confused with this. That's my 2 cents worth.

It is poor that we are losing a long standing sponsor. And there is more to it than meets the eye as usual. Sponsors are treated very poorly. Schwab spends all his time sniffing linament instead of schmoozing sponsors and their clients. I have seen him on match days doing everything but making sponsors and their clients have a special day. LIke ot or not, its one of his main jobs. But he is more interested in running the footy dept.
