Collingwood has a host of players who would struggle at other clubs if they were key players. Wellingham, Blair, Maxwell etc are average players that look like good players in a really good team. Varcoe and Mackie are the same at Geelong. But team is the word. The Pies play as a team and have a few genuine stars of the game. Even Simon Buckley looks OK in their team. Jones would be a gun, Petterd would be a star, etc. It's the cream we are missing, particularly in the midfield. Look at the I50's we concede. That's our midfield. Stats don't lie. Our fwd line is actually very efficient. It just doesn't get in their anywhere near often enough. And of course our ability to play as a real team. Too many go missing too often. Leaders - Ha! We have none that have played more than 80 games.

OK. When Neeld was asked to speak about our list he put up a best 22. But the list had some blanks rather than players names as he believed we had no-one to fill those roles yet. He wanted the recruiters to go out and get players to fill those needs. How many holes do we have in our list and what positions are they?? The first would be obvious: a power forward. We tried to recruit Hale last year to have someone who can contest in the forward lin. Our crumbers would have something to crumb. I would say a prime mover midfielder. Beemer is too slow and has proven poor against the good teams. Jones is not classy enough - an honest grunt player. Trengove is still a bit young. A definite hole here for mine. The back line looks OK. Frawley, Garland, Rivers, Grimes, Bartram is a trier but lets himself down with disposal. MacDOnald is another trier but adds some hardness. Warnock is not up to it mostly. Maybe we need a speedy defender with skills a la Davis and Yarran. Had hopes for Bennell there but needs to improve really quickly. Rucks we are as good as any one. Thoughts on any gaps?

Dave Misson is the gun fitness guru that came from the Swans and followed Ross Lyon to the Saints. Remember the Swans who in their flag year made ONE CHANGE to their side after round 15!!!! Flippin amazing. Makes David Buttifant from the Pies look like Bohdan Bobbledick ha ha ha...

Successful football clubs need successful coaching groups. Yeeha. He said to the Club "what are you going to give me??" We need diverse backgrounds, diverse age groups (interesting!) and a range of skills. About the list: Presented a list of 22 best players with a few gaps - players they needed to draft. Go get 'em. Right now there is anyone good enough to play in that role right now. Very impressive interviewee.

The sub-text in all of this is pretty obvious. Melbourne are soft. Melbourne are the easiest side to play against. Can't disagree with either sentiment. I hope he gives a cultural enema to all at the club, Get tough or **** off. (Morton & Davey I am looking at you!)

The filthy show ponies have to take control mate. All hell would break loose if they didn't. Can't have that.

You have never played have you?? If you had you would know that a V-neck is a no no. Too easy to grab, fingers get caught etc. I like the fact we have chosen a different path to others. Go Demons.

I was there. Great day. Smacked the Swans the following week from memory. Only 1 player with more than 81 games. Makes a joke of people saying we have to build our list over 4-5 years. Go DEES

Think of the money they have saved. PLenty left for N Craig and some decent assistants...

So now the whisper is Neeld with Neil craig. That is an interesting scenario. But I'll wait till I hear it from the club as the media rumour mill has been pretty poor of late....
-
Yeah, we really wasted it by getting the best player in the draft. Good grief. What a goose.

The real question is how much more will they throw at it when Sheedy & Co stuff it up??

Was regarded at Melbourne but didn't get on with Daniher apparently. Also wanted to coach a team in his own rght and so left to coach a local team somewhere..

Great. We would have had Andrew Moore and John Butcher. Give me Trenners any day.

You seriously have no idea. Masquerading your opinion as fact is a disgrace. I can tell you for certain (let me say it again CERTAIN)Scully had not told the club before Saturday of his intentions.

Can be deleted . Has just re-signed.

Don't be surprised to see the Fev back at Carlton. Mrs Pratt likes the boy. You heard it here first.....

Hello? He is out of contract. Don't need to trade anything. Just convince him. Having said that I am not convinced he has what it takes. Can take a mark but the rest? Good on him for performing at the right time though.

Maybe Mick comes to Melbourne as Coaching Director with Todd Viney as Coach. That way he honours his 'commitment' and we are left with a good coaching panel. Mick stays in the game.

jnrmac replied to Chicken Deelicious's topic in Melbourne Demons
Err, maybe AGL had the lowest prices in NSW?? Maybe it is AGL and maybe they use it to ensure their prices are at the lowest end of the market. Don't bag them unless you have some evidence. iSelect do the same for health insurance. I know some people there and they are straight up and down with their info. They wouldn't survive if they weren't. -
They will be pretty pumped. Gold Coast's first game at the MCG?

+100 When will people realise our midfield are the problem. They have been pathetic. They cause most of the i50 entries in our defence because they are lazy - partic Beemer and Sylvia.

Garland was recruited as a forward and DB said he intended to play him there... Never happened.
