Has had a good pre-season and by all reports is looking at that Chris Yarran, Leon Davis type of role. A real smokey for us to be the bolter of the year.

Maybe you need to write more - like stating where your 'fact' came from. -

How does that work? Add 'em all up? Average? Top 5 tallest players? Just curious where that statement of fact came from... -
Do you guys think there are 20 or so major sponsors out there waiting for the once in a lifetime opportunity to sponsor the Demons? Do you think that sponsors might know if they wait until week 1 they will get a better deal? Do you think the club are sitting in their office waiting fo rthe phone to ring? Sponsorships are very difficult to negotiate and deliver on.
-
Wasn't trying to be a smart alec about:) They are difficult to deal with and one thing I have learned is it ain't over until it's over. When it's signed you can relax because up until that point anything goes. But there is no doubt the CHinese companies are looking at this market for sponsorship.

Hisense arena?? A multi million dollar 6 yr deal.... Jan 24: China Southern Airlines has signed on as the sponsor for the Sydney Festival for the next three years and believes Australia is on the cusp of a travel boom that will see one million Chinese visiting Australia by 2020.

Collingwood annoyed at Neelds early departure

We lost Wellman with one year of his contract left. Clubs also ditch coaches at will so they can hardly be upset if ithappens the other way.. -
Only if they want to use them this year.

Agree Stevie J but Milne nowhere near elite IMO

That bit ain't right. It is well known that Rivers one-on-one is vulnerable. Heard ratten talk - he expected JR to play on Waite and Rattens instructions were to take him back to the goal square and have everybody clear out. he has great strengths but that isn't one of them.

Why don't Carlsum ever get mentioned in tanking debate?? 3 wooden spoons in a row. Losing the last 11 games to get C Judd (who had todl them he was leaving West Coke) as well as the infamous Kruezer Cup. Teams for years have sent players off to surgery, tried them in differnt positions etc. DB did not tell the players to lose.
-
Really??? They didn't learn a game plan under DB. At least they didn't play like they knew what a game plan was. Finer points??? I would say it has ben de-constructed and is being put together again. The difference being that under DB they didn't pick up a ball until around February (gotta work on building their bodies up!). Neeld has been doing game simulations since very early on. Well need it.

Leaders lead. We have two outstanding young leaders and they will lead. Thats why they were chosen That doesn't stop BM or Rivers, Davey or Green being an on-field leader though. It would still be expected of them.
-
You are totally missing the point. It seems clear from what I read that the players had been whining for some time about C Schwab interfering in the footy department. Don didn't bring anything on. He was tryingto find out why the players were 'up in arms'. The phrase 'lunatics running the asylum' comes to mind...
-
I think the club's actions would disagree with your view strongly. You don't pick leaders to play at Casey FFS.

"So much of the footy" as you say is simply not supported by the facts. Which is why it gets people so riled. Here they are for you: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pc-melbourne-demons--cale-morton There is no column for hard ball gets but there doesn't need to be. He plays a free player largely so gets 'cheap' possessions in the backline. I can't see the elite skills that posters talk of here. I agree with Dandeeman that his development has not been helped by getting games without merit. People will say the same of Jack Watts but I don't buy that - he has shown so much more commitment to a contest as well as elite skills. It's just my opinion and I'll watch and hope that I am wrong.

When exactly has he been on? And BTW he has been a member of the starting 18 consistently.

Took Leon Davis about 8 yrs before he displayed elite skills consistently. JB has all the tricks. Could be that player for us. Jst hope it doesn't take 8 yrs....

Clearly not, The club rates him a lot more highly than people here. Check the B& F results. -

Geez Morton's skinny.... -
Geez at least he didn't say ruthless.....

That is VERY interesting to me. Says that CS was meddling in DB's patch and has been told not to interfere with the footy dept. His conduit is Craig. Smart. probably explains the footy players being upset last year about the interference in the footy department by one CS. Total speculation on my part but that's my take.

I'll give you a clue. One starts with M and ends with N and it has 6 letters.

Started behind the 8 ball in 2 seasons - what you think last years finger injury set him back????? Good grief. Sadly Cale just hasn't got it. His efforts are sometimes laughable. That is what riles people up the most. And like the other members of his footballing family they seem to coast. Look at what has happened to them. Still he gets another chance this year. I hope he realises its his last one.

Gysberts has a body to play inside mid? Must have put on a bit over the break! Cale, sadly I agree with you. Viney. A question. Isn't it in our best interest for him not to dominate anything this year?? All we can do is raise the draft pick that others will offer for him. If he dominates and Hawthorn offers, say their first pick - we are then obliged to use our first pick are we not? There is no chance we will not take him so clubs have got nothing to lose by offering a high pick. Could someone pls clarify??
