  1. We have very few players with composure. Players that can get the ball and hold on to it while they assess the best option....then deliver it. Watts definitely has it. That's why Neeld had in in the midfield I am guessing. Frawley has it. Davey used to have it but has totally lost the ability to win the ball and run and carry 20m before dishing off - he now dinky chips it around 5m to a stationary target. Howe has it. I reckon that's it. Consequently we make dumb, hurried decisions. Regularly.
  2. Sellar is a monty to come in this week against Lynch..
  3. The players are so busy trying to adhere to instructions they have no flair or composure. I am not making excuses as I am sick of the pathetic performances but I guess my only light at the end of the tunnel is: Wst Coast won a spoon while they were developing a game plan. The Hawks were atrocious until they learned the game plan. Adelaide were terrible under Craig because they were too structured - they are now playing more freely. I can only hope.....
  4. Sellar will definitely play next week. Their fwd line is very tall and Lynch is a monster. Exactly the type of player Sellar was recruited for. We still have to handle Kennedy, Darling, NikNat and Gaff up fwd. We are in trouble by some way.
  5. How is it that McGrath can run through the midfield take two bounces get tackled, not dispose of the ball and it's play on Brisbane goal. As my wife said "if that is not holding the ball what is?" I counted 4 marks awarded to the Loins in the fwd line where the ball actually hit the ground! WTF was the recall of Mitch Clarks goal on the boundary line for?? Luckily he slotted the second one as well. Maggots were appalling.

    Neeld?

Wow 9 posts and then this gem. I'm glad you are posting here buddy. Such insight and wisdom.
  7. Blindingly obvious mismatch yet it continued for some time. As did Grimes on Rockliff. Jamar was monstered all day (do they have new ruck rule interpretations this year??) Didn't see a lot out of the coaches box to be honest. Was watching with interest. Every team knows to isolate Rivers in the goal square. Very poor coaching by our guys.
  8. Hmm we get good value out of Davey. His 15m dinky chips really cut the opposition to threads.....
  9. There was an article on the MFC website about Jack Watts getting dropped sorry, rested for the last NAB cup game ha ha. The our Captain comes out and says he has to work his way back into the team!*&$$ You would think they could get their stores straight down there ....
  10. I reckon coaches will often pick players to play against their old club. Joel Mac has a point to prove and has played well in previous games against the Loins.
  11. What a great legal brain you have. Bill Clinton ran the USA with some pretty hefty charges against him. Oh yeah, we wasn't guilty. I hope you don't lose your job over an unproven charge - let's say a work colleague falsely accuses you of sexual harassment. Goodbye career.
  12. I am guessing your best bet would be to go through their management at: Principle Management (Music Artists Management Company) 250 West 57th Street Suite 2120 New York, NY 10107 USA Phone: (212) 765-2330 Fax: (212) 765-2372 Principle Management (Music Artists Management Company) 30/32 Sir John Rogerson's Quay Dublin 2 Ireland Phone: +353 (0)1 6777 330 Fax: +353 (0)1 6777 276
  13. Hmm a bit embarrassing! Thanks for picking that up
  14. Not sure how old you are Dr G but some of you have incredibly short memories...in 2000 we had Bizzell at CHB and Robbo at CHF - both round 6'2". It was clear we had to build a spine and get some inside players. 2000 draft we recruited Scott Thompson - a great inside midfielder. The scumbag left us high and dry. 2001 Luke MOlan sadly was injury prone and a waste of a number 9 pick. But he was recruited as a big bodied KPP. 2002 we took Nick Smith at 15. never made it but was recruited as a hard bodied KPP. 2003 saw us take Sylvia and McLean - two hard bodied potential insiders. McLean was terrific for us for a while but injuries and pace meant he was on the outer. Sylvia has never come in as we would have anticipated. 2004 We recruited Bate and Dunn who have been overall disappointing for two 192/193cm players with bigger bodies. So don't say we didn't learn our lesson and seek out hard bodied players - it's just not true. The fact that our drafting was poor and we had some poor luck with Thompson are more the case.
  15. Steven Stretch didn't win a lot of contested footy. Was one of the first picked every week. Some players are like that.
  16. Kennedy is not a recycled player, nor is Mumford or McGlynn. They were targetted by the Swans as good players who weren't getting opportunities at their own club. They paid overs to get Mumford and it was a great move. Kennedy the same. Remember Darren Jolly?? Premiership ruckman x 2?? Was getting 8 minutes a game under Daniher because of his lovechild Jeff White. Swans pounced and did brilliantly. There are plenty of these types at other clubs. The Swans are great at recruiting to plug a gap. They really do their homework to get ready made players. Rhyce Shaw, Ted Richards, Stewart Maxfield - the list goes on. We could learn a lot from them.
  17. I was leaning to picking him before the draft camp because I was intoxicated by his skill and athleticism and, in part, because we needed a key forward to replace Neitz. I am glad you were leaning towards him - obviously the club has great faith in your insights as a recruiter. but you do confuse me with some of your logic But you do think he was a replacement for David Neitz? And now you are disappointed? Wow. I guess you have told the club that and they are regretting they listened to you in the first place. Hmmm? And if you don't think he was going to be a crash and bash forward what did you think he was going to be?? And why would you be disappointed now? Explain that again?
  18. How do you know what he was drafted to do? He was simply our number 1 pick because he is tall and has skills. Stop assuming you know best. Can't stand that sort of crud. It's an annoying habit that you will have to get used to changing.
  19. Ha, you mean given away. It would be awfully embarrassing for the AFL with only 5k turning up. I'd put the house on every school kid within 100kms would have got a ticket.
  20. WHY ARE WE ALWAYS GETTING DRAGGED INTO THESE STUPID ARGUMENTS?????? Nobody mentions Dean Wellman who left with a year to go on his contract?? Nobody talks about Carlton tanking the last 11 games of the year to get Judd? Nobody talks about Carlton tanking to get Kruezer? Nobody talks about Carlton winning 3 wooden spoons in a row? Nobody talks about how we were stiffed by Scott Thompson. A few talk about who we were stiffed by Scull and his fat dad. They all talk about Melbourne. Stuff 'em. I am sick of Melbourne being dragged through the mud on these stupid issues. What are we - cursed?? Stynes, Broadbridge, Wight, Barassi, Norm Smith........aaaarggghhhh As for Coaches. If clubs stop sacking coaches mid contract then guess what might happen?? People might actually start honouring contracts. (rant over)
  21. I have never received a membership renewal. Pathetic. Rang the club last week and renewed my 6 memberships! - must have been lost in the mail they said. Previous years I have had a number of reminders but this year there hasn't been any. I understand it's expensive for the club to keep sending out reminders but as I am in marketing I always like to see what they do in terms of encouraging people to re-sign. Poor from the club IMO.
  22. Was told by Melbourne that they would recruit him. When he slid to 50 the Pies took him very quickly. I have met him and he is a good lad. Will go very well I believe.
  23. Dimwit wanted GWS and GC for one reason only. 60% of advertising revenue is generated from those two places. AS well it is rugby league heartland and they dominate TV ratings - even though people don't attend rugby games in any decent number. So get over it. It was his call and he will live and die by it. Out of any sport in Australia AFL is clearly the dominant one. He intends for it to stay that way. You mightn't like him but he has done a good job,
  24. Not one club captain predicted that Melbourne would make the 8. But one of them predicted Mitch Clark would win the Coleman medal! Interesting.
