I asked DB directly once about not hitting targets and his response was if they are not fit enough they miss targets. I personally didn't buy it then and don't now. It's such a basic skill I don't know ho w you get to elite level without being able to do it.

Its an interesting point who has ultimate say. There is no doubt a heirachy but it seems clear to me in the corporate world the CEO of a small company (substitute Coach) asks his HR Manager (substitute recruiting manager): 1. who is out there 2, What do we need 3. What is your opinion on each Before ultimately making the final decision. I can see the coach having ultimate authority in a line ball call when the footy department is genuinely torn between two or three players. If I was coach I would want that authority but then someone does need to keep an eye on the future because the coach in all liklihood wont be there in the long term.

The EW jumpers re collectors items. Must have gone up in value....
-
Don't get caught up in semantics. Watch it again and you will see Jackson is out of bounds turning, looks at Grimes and then makes a second aggressive motion to slam Grimes onto the ground.

One thing I have noticed is that Beemer often sits at the feet of Jamar. Many times the ball falls straight to ground. Ablett does that a lot as well but he can get out of traffic, Moloney can't most often and handballs out. When Beemer is not there most of our mids hang around the outside rather than go inside and get it. Just a thought.

Was trying to ascertain whether he had been given the cold shoulder from Neeld, whether he saw the writing on the wall, whether he jumped etc. Either way he is not around to see whether his choices come good or not. Maybe he thinks the picks are no good and he better find another job, I don't know. Just testing to see what is out there..

According to the The AGE last week we have recruited poorly and/or the evolution of the press defeated our recruiting. Barry P slunk off rather quietly and I wondering whether this was a Neeld driven situation after arriving and assessing all of the draftees of the past 5 or 7 years? Or did he see the writing on the wall? It's clear there has been a lot of clearing out of the footy dept (with the exception of Mahoney and Royal) so has anyone heard anything concrete on BPs departure?

DB was unlucky to be there when the concessions were in place for GWS and GC. Trading or clearing out the list wasn't a realistic option.

That's why we have had terrible turnovers in the first few games. We are trying to move the ball quickly. INstead of being composed, assessing the options quickly and pulling the trigger. Frawley I reckon has become like a frightened rabbit when kicking in because he is thinking too much. It's a delicate balance and one that is incredibly difficult when devoid of confidence as we are. The good teams are composed and don't second guess themselves. We are clearly not there yet. I am sick of waiting....

I am so sick of the MR and their inconsistencies. They should be held up for bringing the game into disrepute. Re the Jackson on Grimes incident Fact. Jackson was out of bounds Fact. Jackson 'slung' Grimes in a secondary and intentional motion Fact. Grimes was knocked out The movement was a sling as far as the definition is concerned. Where was his duty of care to Grimes?? Why was it not even reviewed? Why was the result of the incident not taken into account like it was with the Grimes tackle on Jackson earlier? The game is forked.

Head high tackles...."drawing frees"

Yes it was enacted but No-one has EVER been charged with staging let alone suspended. Another p***weak rule of the week. -
Head high tackles...."drawing frees"

What about the guy who dives on the ball and in the same motion takes out the legs of a player going for the ball - The Hawks were masters of that a couple of years ago. IN many cases the player falls on the first player and receives a free for in the back. Another professional free that should be outlawed. -
Isn't that what we were supposed to get by being at AAMI Stadium?? Some free lessons from the Storm????

No buy-in for coach's broom, or '1979 and all that..."
jnrmac replied to bush demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Green had something like 16 kicks, 9 handballs and 4 tackles in two games. But if you look at the first halves it is something like 4/3/1. Woefully out of form and confidence. Great warrior for the club but has to lift, We have no leadership and sadly he is part of the problem. -
Yep Last week it was 9 head high tackles. This week it was 'let's go for the waist but don't grab an arm and make sure they can do a 360 degree spin before dishing off to an opponent." Ably assisted by the maggots.

Well done genius. You don't think Neeld has been teaching that? Clearly the players are not doing it. Now what does he do? Give us some non-sloppy analysis from a thinking supporter?
-
What a cracker of a comment. Improved performance?? Wow he must have been really bad before. Exactly what are these areas of improvements?? Pass the Kool aid

I hope we are tanking, At least there would be a reason for playing crap football with no heart or intensity.
-
I disagree with this. That is clearly what they are doing but that is not the game plan. Neeld is not telling them to play this way. They are not capable at present of playing the way he wants them too. They are getting confused, they are frightened of making the wrong choices hence they are like rabbits in headlights. PLayers need to generate some confidence in their ability to hold on to the ball, take the game on, deliver to an uncontested player. Players without the ball are not running and spreading and this is a huge problem for the ball carrier. It's clearly not working. ATM

Are you Cale's love child? Never let the facts get in the way Chook. Cale played in rounds 3,4,6,10,11,12,13,14,15,17,21,22,23,24 I am sure Neeld din't tell him to hang 5-10m off his player all day and watch him get cheap kicks I am sure Neeld didn't tell him to drop a straightforward mark that caused a direct goal I am sure Neeld didn't tell Cale to turn the ball over I don't like Cale as a player. Never have. He is in fact infuriating. I have heard Rawlings say that the players over summer had to "re-build their trust" in Morton so the playing group clearly thought he wasn't carrying his weight. I do agree, that having played him he probably has to play again this week but it burns me up that he gets another undeserving game. Neeld has to see for himself what he can and can't do. I just won't be watching it.

Well what can he say? They are shite and I will drop 19 of them for next week. Then what? He has no doubt realised its a much bigger job than anticipated. Can't do anything else but try to build the team he wants with players who have a go. I fear for a whole generation of lost Melbourne supporters. Can't keep the kids interested in watching em any more. "They are crap Dad" "Why do you barrack for them Dad?" "I don't know. There is no good reason"
-
Where do you dream this stuff up? One hand on the keyboard one elsewhere.
-
You are dreaming. Morton did not go near his man all afternoon. He ran where the ball wasn't all day. His dropped mark caused a direct goal. His turnovers were abominable. He is too scared to go near a contest.
-
There is nothing to say about this pea-hearted mob.
-
Thanks Mrs Morton You are delusional. He was by far the worst. And stop excusing him from having a pea heart.
