Your argument is blown out of the water by the fact that in one summer Hird and Bomber got them close to a NAB cup final and winning the first 4 games of the year. They ran out of gas half way through the year but this crud about changing game plan takes 3 or 4 years was disproven then and there. We were shiite when Bailey came in and when he left but we have gone backwards since DB left. Its scary and the players are dicing with the life of a football cub. Most recruits don't play 4 games. Magner has shown more in 4 games IMO. He has little in the way of defensive skills - he continually hangs off his man by 5-15m. His opponents rack up uncontested stats. Why can't people face it that he has been a wasted 4th pick and move on? Do we want to wait until he reaches 125 games like Miller before we work out he can't play a decent game? It's a cut throat business and we are amongst the worst at it. Why?? Because of guys like Miller and Morton.

Can't agree with you, Davey was on Murphy who nearly single handedly won the game for the Dogs. Did 3 or 3 good things but a poor game and ZERO defensive pressure. Weak attack on the footy on two glaring occasions. Your expectations are so low after Davey's past 2 years that you are happy with what he dished up. Well I'm not. As for saying he is nearly back, you are dreaming and if the club thinks like you we are truly stuffed. Not sure if you watched the game but Dunn was moved on to Murphy in the 2nd half to curb his dominance. Murphy had 6 second half possessions of which 3 were kicks to himself from a kick in. Dunn actually did his job in the second half. Lift your expectations and watch a bit more closely.

Interesting to note no-one has slated Aaron for his poor defensive effort on Robert Murphy. 18 touches in the first half and almost single handedly won them the game. All I have read is Aaron got two goals and was harder at the contest. Surely he has to be dropped??

Todd Viney was quoted (when working with Bailey) as saying "we're not worried about game plan we are just trying to build up their bodies and get games into them" or very similar words. I screamed blue murder at that and it was a classic part of the mollycoddling of our 'younger' players. Teach em the work ethic from day 1. Young kids can do great things on the footy field but when you put no expectations about effort don't be surprised that they don't give any. FFS even our senior leaders give questionable effort most of the time.

Geelong has had an exceptional group of talented hard-bodied players. Not many teams could play that way. We went around to try and recruit elite skilled players (don't laugh!) with athletic ability and endurance to try and play a similar style. Aside from the fact the jury is out on our recruiting We are fighting yesterday's war. The game has moved on and we have the wrong cattle.
