Yeah just like $cully.

Knee problems. Degenerative. Not good long term.
-
Forget the goals. The confidence from winning and the four quarter effort is the critical element, The conditions were lousy but belief is more important,
-
Pass from me. He is a flawed player. And very expensive. With a nutcake for a manager!

Ryder at least got cited and got a reprimand. Pathetic but at least it was noted.

MRP CHairman Mark Fraser - the same Mark Fraser that used to play for Essendon?? - says Jetta's reaction of throwing his head back was in play because contact was made. TO HIS WAIST YOU MORON. Therefore no case to answer. It's simply breathtaking that the MRP can churn out this drivel, They must actually believe it. Sad really.

It was Ryder on Nicholson. Should be a three week penalty. One of the most dangerous things you can do on a footy filed. As for Dustin FLetcher he should be banned for life after dropping the knees into Blease. About the 368th time he has done something like that. I don't buy the Saint Dustin label - he's a dirty player.

Just saw it again - Paddy Rider against Nicholson. Should be 5 weeks Probably won't even get cited. Scum.

So we had Frawley and Bartram out. And we had Garland playing up forward. And Grimes was in the midfield. Yet it was our best defensive effort of the year. What does this say about our standard backline that we have played for quite a while?? Was it in need of an overhaul? Have we all over-rated our back half? It certainly looked far more creative with Watts down there. And Tommy Mac has really stepped up in the past few weeks. While the turnovers in the first quarter were deplorable their efficiency increased markedly after that. Very interesting development I reckon. Thoughts?

Its amazing how different it can be when we win vs losing but I couldn't help noticing after watching the replay how much more composed we were when tackling, It has frustrated me all year that we have had 3 or 4 players attacking an opposition player with the ball only to see it spill free and taken away from us. It seemed clear the players were trying to play a pressure and contested game but just weren't doing it right. On Saturday night we were much more composed which was impressive given how wet it was. Dees were holding off until the player took possession before then being tackled by one Melbourne player. The others were waiting around the contest to lend a hand and perhaps sweep it away. The tackles were mostly always legitimate with very few head highs - who could forget the West Coast game with 9 high tackles. I thought this was particularly impressive given Ess's propensity to throw the head back or feigning to take possession. It happened time and time again that Ess would take possession of the ball and the Dee player would hold off a split second to 1) ensure the Ess player had taken possession; and 2) to effect a legitimate tackle. I thought we failed to stick tackles in the first half but by the end we had turned it around. And some of the goal saving tackles in the last quarter were first class. It really excited me that something clicked for them. And isn't it the first time this year we have won a free kick count?? 16 to 15. Looking forward to a solid effort against the filth next Monday.

Has no doubt been told to take the game on. Doesn't yet have the confidence. He will get better and better. Is only 5 or 6 games into a career.
-
Anyone see the Ess player that stuck his leg out to trip the Dee player. Can't recall who it was but worthy of a free and a report. A very dangerous action.

How this could not be referred is a disgrace. They have referred ones that were a lot less controversial. Very poor decision. The AFL were lucky. If we had lost that game by less than 6 points there would have been outrage.
-
The last quarter goal he kicked was outstanding. Did a reasonable negating job on Fletcher. Its his highlights that make his lowlights look so bad.
-
I thought that Neeld ran downstairs also because he wanted the spotlight on the players not on him. Also noticed he didn't stand in the circle for the song. I like that. I like a coach that keeps a distance from the players. ND and DB didn't do that
-
He started so badly in the first quarter with a couple of poor turnovers. It was a great effort to keep persevering. Very positive last three quarters.

I hate this expression, Can someone please explain what it means and where it comes from. Its a nonsense to me.

No there is a bit of urban myth about this. Ys he was responsible for punishing the Crows team of Malcolm Blight in June and tapering the training off for September. They won back to back flags. Daniher famously tried this and it backfired badly. Craig is an astute fitness specialist. He may have overseen our guys get smashed at training pre-season but he he is smart enough not to do it during the season. The fact is though we are so far behind everyone else we have to catch up sometime.

You have no idea. Caro is a good football writer. She doesn't lie and gets told all sorts of stuff from all sorts of people. Her job is to filter it and find out facts. Occasionally she fills in gaps that are obvious but she is after all an opinion writer. Did you ever think that footy is a political business and some people use the media to spread lies and untruths?? Don't shoot the messenger. And when you see people like Grant Thomas and Greg Denham who sprout confidential stuff without checking facts you should be glad people like Caro are around. As for the article I think it shows why our leadership group is new this year. What did the players think they were doing?? Play footy FFS and stay out of the other stuff.

It's not only the mid field that lacks pace
jnrmac replied to Harrisonrules's topic in Melbourne Demons
They have been trying to get Bennell to do that but he hasn't fired up yet. -
Hardtack. You don't have to repeat yourself. We hear uyour opinion. Its just that other people have DIFFERENT opinions. Get used to it. Clearly the NOW Director was an influential supporter and presumably donor, coterie club member etc. And it appears he became a Director later. You don't think there is anything in it but I think it stinks and is worth investigating. The article CLAIMS that Judd was trying to avoid scrutiny from the gaming authorities. How do you know it was not also to avoid AFL scrutiny?? No didn't think so. Judd and Carlton are serial offenders at underhanded deals that breach the spirit of the salary cap. Worth looking at. The AFL are on record as saying they won't let another Visy deal happen. Clearly they think it breaches the spirit of the rules.
