Well they can't tag him on the bench...
-
It's our home game. They have 7 outs. We are injury depleted but have won a lot of contested football this year - one of Richmond's achilles heels. It's a beautiful winters day here in Melbourne - bright blue sky, no wind and qwuite warm in the sun. I'm tipping Melbourne. Go Dees!

We need fwd defensive pressure to keep the ball kin the fwd line. We had more inside 50s than Bris but the ball kept bouncing out,, Having Cook in the fwd line won't solve that. Maybe Ricky and Nev if he was fit. I like Howe in there but he seems to be playing al over the place ATM.
-
Not true. Off the ball is deemed worse.

Thanks for that..

Haven't seen it discussed anywhere. Wasn't he only supposed to be out for 1 week? Big blow to miss him for two. Hopefully it won't be any more....

Hasn't Goddard already committed to the Aints?
-
Has elevated his fitness levels this year and trimmed down. Great commitment from him after the end of year bunfight about him wanting t leave. Far from the best player on our list but I can't knock his efforts this year from limited opportunities. Well done. 100 games is something I doubt any around here have got!

Carlton needs a fwd more than we do.
-
James Hawkesly Bris Chris Knights Adel Tyson Goldsack Coll David Myers Ess Jarred Bouman Hawks Scott Thompson Norf Matt Spangher Swans These are guys that would flll roles for us and would not be costly. Mostly hard bodies that could fit in right away. I reckon we are dreaming if we thing we can land a number of big fish. We need to trade/recruit realistic ready made payers that fill gaps for us. Goldsack for mine would be a great get.

Are you suggesting I am not being fair minded? Nothing could be fairer than examining his many years with the club and stating what the club thought of him - ie the B&F. You may of course continue to have a rose coloured rear view mirror if you wish but it's not reality.
-
Macca go and check your sugar coated memory. Its clearly got hazy. TJ had great skills and played 2 repeat two good seasons - one where he won the B&F and the second where he came third. He did not finish in the top 10(!!!!!) in any other year. That's how the club rated him. A clearly wasted talent who could not accept the rigours of being an elite sportsman. The description of FD I think is apt. BTW we have another one of those and his name is Colin.........

Gee I was reading this thread and looking for an apology to Brey9186 Hardtack. Can't seem to find it????? Maybe he has fallen off his high horse..

Richmond's Dan Connors and Dustin Martin in trouble

What is the deal with martin's social life? The Rich thread at BF talks about his nightclubbing and smoking but does anyone know what he actually gets up to?? -
The problem is that there are very few trades. POsters will often say lets trade away 8 players and it is simply fanciful to think that could be done. Particularly when we are a bottom side and players like Bennell (for example) can't get a regular game. So the reality is we have done really well to trade in the past few years. Sydney though has done a lot better and their ability to turn average players like Shaw, Mattner, Richards into really good role players is amazing. Also their ability to unearth potential superstars like Mumford and Kennedy is first class. That is what we need to aspire to. Some more ballsy decisions to target player types we need and search for and secure them.

In the dictionary under mental hardness it reads 'Jack Viney
-
Look at what Sydney and to a lesser extent Collingwood have done. Neeld wants hard bodies. The Swans have recruited R Shaw, Kennedy, McGlynn, Mumford, Richards, Mattner. Morton, Spangher, Seaby. Not all of themn have worked but they are ready to go players. Our comparison would be a Joel Mac who is a tryer but hasn't got the goods to set the world on fire. You need talent around these guys and the Swans haver recruited tremendously well in that regard. Their culture is quite extraordinary and something at this point we can only aspire to. Simon Buckley was an ordinary player who got injured a lot but at the Pies he has done quite well. These guys are all role players and that's the big difference. Nick Maxwell is an ordinary footballer but a good leader and a fantastic role player. Thats the type of team Neeld wants to develop. And you can't do that by binning 11 players and drafting kids at pick 100. Its why I reckon he kept bate, Much maligned here but has done well this season with limited opportunities. Solid body and 6-70 games experience. Expect m,ore of the same..

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
jnrmac replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
OMG Viney only had 8 kicks 8 handballs and 4 tackles. What are we doing drafting this hack?????? -
"The umpires pay then as they see them" is worthy of comedy central. 23 to 1 frees at half time in round 2 should have set alarm bells ringing but no.....
-
It was BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS THE GUY (oops sorry) the guy was a fly by night nutter. We were simply desperate. No-one can honestly say "gee we were surprised". As for Polis, he is involved in a court case and will say what he has to.
