Not historical in both ways. If we win, even convincingly, the Marvin-the-robots here will say it is of no significance.

Perhaps he didn't lie, perhaps he told someone else who didn't pass it on. Maybe we'll find someone else has been sacked shortly. Who knows. Until all the facts are known it is a mistake to rush to judgment like some twit journalists do

So good to have Ben Hur back. The abuse level was dropping off for a while. Seriously, why can't you can disagree with Stuie without abusing him. Doesn't reflect well on you BH, but I guess you don't care. (And I can defend Stuie from abuse without agreeing with him.)

Whether or not Essendon are in trouble was not my point. I was referring to the attitude of most of their supporters on Bomberblitz. If we were winning games, posters here wouldn't be calling for everyone's head in the admin, they'd be defending the club. In contrast to what I read here.
-
Agree. I'm not sure what is more depressing. Our on-field performance or the rush to judgement by posters none of whom are in possession of the actual facts. Actually I am sure; it's the former. If we were winning, there would be far fewer intemperate calls for heads to roll and more calls to stand by the club over this.

As usual a lot of posters seem to want to immediately think the worst at every turn when we don't know all the facts. What if it turns out to be true that the MFC only misled the AFL because the Doc had kept his Dank involvement to himself. How then is that the Board's fault? Doubtless some will say they bear ultimate responsibility. Well yes, in a general sense, but if you had an employee who put you in a hole because you neglected to torture him on a weekly basis to check he wasn't misleading you, you wouldn't really feel truly responsible. So why judge an organization by that impossible standard? Answer: politics. I bet if we were winning games there would be a totally different attitude to admin problems on this board.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
sue replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
what do you expect? They issued a detailed statement. Why would they do anything more while they await developments? What could they usefully say? Some strong words to make MC supporters feel better? Would you believe it if they did? If they put their heads up it would just give more opportunities for the media frenzy. How about a bit of patience to see what's what rather than over-reacting every tick of the clock. Some of you guys seem to love being as depressed as possible at every opportunity. Sure there has been plenty to be depressed about, but get a grip. I just hope the players aren't as negative as you lot. -
I'm continually amazed how quickly people come to conclusions before the facts are known.

It's interesting to reflect on what posters here would have been saying if MFC had put its hand-up when the spotlight fell on the Bombers initially. I expect there would be cries of sack the board etc for being so stupid to put the spotlight on us when the Bombers could take all the heat. Probably from the same people who say sack them all now. Once again we don't know all the facts. It is likely that the source of the text messages is Dank for his own reasons. There is nothing in those texts that clearly proves any player knew of Dank's involvement with the doctor . Hence speculation that 'fear of it all coming out' is responsible for our woeful on-field performance is just that - speculation. (Not to mention it doesn't explain why that fear evaporated in the first half last week.) If (and yes it is an if) the players didn't know about Dank's involvement, and the MFC felt the only source of a leak would be our Doc or Dank himself, then telling the partial truth to the AFL may not have seemed such a foolish idea at the time. Hindsight is wonderful.

The ruck decisions may rest on whether or not Bogan gets off at the tribunal. Whether that means Gawn more or less likely, I dunno.

Just when you thought we may have been implementing cultural change

Maybe I'm naive, but how would Storm players know when MFC players were due for ice baths rather than spas? -
Rather than a PP, it may be more useful for us if the AFL found a way for us to 'pay' for a top-grade established mid-fielder.

I'm not defending our record, but seriously, Scully was on everyone's #1 list. We have plenty of reasons to cut our wrists, but the Scully issue isn't one given what we got for him.

At least you can block it out by strategically covering up a part of the screen. Sadly users of Telstra's AFL Live app can't conjure up those parts of the image cutoff by Foxtel in reducing the format to 4:3 for live streams (which they don't do for replayed streams). I'm amazed that Telstra hasn't leant on Foxtel to stop doing that.
-
I'm even more sick of negatives. There hve been a lot more of those.
-
Gee, what would you guys be saying if they lost the first half by 50 points. That was a good effort fo 1/2 a game - much more than we have seen before. Obviously there is a problem with keeping it up and serious issues with some players (Jamar for one), but I'm amazed that posters can be so confident that the problem is the coach.

Trust you are not putting yourself up for CEO then.
-
If you didn't see my earlier post, Telstra blames Foxtel for displaying the live streams in 4:3 even though the recorded ones are in 16:9. Most posts here are about a game. Funny that Telstra chooses the same name for its video-streaming app for iPads and mobile phones.

Isn't Demitriou retiring soon and will be looking for a new job....

Typical TV 'reporters' following Neeld waving mikes and asking questions and trying to make the bloke look bad for not answering. Of course he probably initially said "I'm not answering any questions, got more important stuff to do".
-
maybe he just knew he wasn't worth keeping.

The current version plays live match streaming 4:3 aspect ratio, cutting off the left and right hand side of the picture (dropping the time remaining etc.) But replays are full 16:9. So you ask why. Answer from Telstra: blame the 'broadcaster'. Presumably Foxtel is doing this to make their product better than the one you get with the AFL Live app. Telstra should tell Fox (and thus partly themselves) to stop playing games or they will lose subscriptions. As someone who doesn't want all the extra stuff you pay for with Foxtel, I think the app and its pricing are pretty good. But they seem to lose the plot during the Carlton -C Wood match. Screen goes blank for several minutes. Too many users I guess. The app seems fine for MFC matches. So there is some upside being a Demon's fan.
-
I suspect (but have no evidence of course) that this is partly the AFL's doing, hence the about face. If after publishing his letter, Don talked to the AFL and they say - 'we'll help the club in a big way by $ or whatever, but you need to sack the CEO (for real reasons or just to show you are doing something)', then an about face is on the cards, especially if the CEO goes gracefully as he has.

Agree. At the very least it forces the opposition's coach to make a quick decision about what to do about the player. If he goes off, the oppo coaching team has plenty of time to think what to do by the time he next goes on.
