It is true that the Dunn/Jolly one was unavoidable but that doesn't affect the result, which was pretty bad for us, though I am still in the ever dwindling camp that believes Dunn could be a good player. The cost of the Bell Woey trade was not so much in the loss of woey's form, but more so the time and number of games invested in Bell for largely nothing (he's not finished yet but he would be if he was out of contract). And I don't think it is good at all that we have been aggressive in trading existing players for draft picks, I would much rather be a club that has a reputation for holding onto exiting players. That is assuming of course that results are the same. Which is not to say I don't advocate it in some circumstances, I just don't like the taste it leaves in your mouth. Next time i'll lighten up on the evidence and fill my posts with opinion and speculation instead.

This is what I fear the most from this rumour, a player that bleeds for the colours now wanting out? If that's the case then we are in some trouble. It seems many here though are keen to move him despite a deep and continuing passion for the club (for all we know), which IMHO is just a terrible move. Mclean is the poster boy for a new kind of Melbourne player, tough and loyal, and a leader. And for me a 50/50 is just not enough for Mclean, and I suspect 50/50 is being generous for this pick 11.
-
And snaffled a ticket to the Brownlow without playing a game. Looking forward to seeing him in our forward line with Jurrah.

I don't see the need to trade away one of the Jones, Moloney or Mclean. They have exactly what we need if we intend to introduce two skilled, quick (Scully at least can't speak for Trengove?) mids. Strength for protection, leadership and passion to show them the way. If Melbourne is seeking this trade I will be very upset.

I'd have Brock ahead of Winderlich, but then I would have Brad Johnson ahead of Brock. 4/23 ? No thanks. Even if you don't rate Brock he's stil better than at least 15 of those listed.
-
Maybe, but If Melbourne was seeking to trade Brock there would certainly be disenfranchised players.

Pick 11 over the last few years: 2008 Steele Sidebottom 2007 Patrick Veszpremi 2006 Andrejs Everitt 2005 Shaun Higgins 2004 Adam Thomson 2003 Beau Waters 2002 Jason Winderlich 2001 Richard Cole 2000 Trent Sporn 1999 Darren Glass 1998 Lenny Hayes 1997 Jason Saddington 1996 Brent Grgic 1995 Donald Cockatoo-Collins 1994 Damien Ryan 1993 Brad Johnson 1992 Jonathon Robran 1991 Leigh Willison 1990 Danny Sexton 1989 Darren Smith 1988 Mark Bayliss 1987 Tim McNeil 1986 Jason Taylor I'd keep Brock.

Apart fom not believing the rumour I am astonished that people would be prepared to do a straight swap for pick 11.
-
Best wishes and all the luck and strength in the world.

Given that his family is based in Adelaide, and that Melbourne is a resource poor club, is there a chance he won't apply for FS?
-
They're going to be in a bit of trouble for a few years the Toigs. But they do have a few good players to build on over the next little while. Deledio is one of them. Pick 2 is fair for both parties IMO. Deledio hasn't had the greatest coaches of all time, but he does have to take responsibility for his own form.

As it happens i will rip it up if we lose as well. It's a time honoured tradition. The first one I don't rip up will be in 2 years and it will be at the end of September not the end of August.
-
I doubt the story very much, it just doesn't seem right to me. As for keeping him, well I think we are obliged to. The upside is that in 12 months we will know with absolute certainty if he can play or not, I suspect the latter.
-
Yes No I would tear up my membership if we won.
-
I disagree, PJ can kick, can ruck and is mobile, he is just not able to do it regularly. Jamar is still a better player but he has been a long time coming, and I wouldn't take 1 good performace playing forward as a sign that he is good in that position, he's still one of the worst set shots in the AFL. As for which Rucks should stay and which should go? I say keep them all, and look to draft another one. We are a long way from a solution, and we should solve it by weight of numbers.
-
I went to that game and my opinion at the game vs in the youtube clip was somewhat different. At the game Scully was far more impressive than in the video, amazing endurance and pace. And trengove's clip was far better than I remember him in the game. Looking forward to the NAB cup.

Good win for the dogs, I thought the interview at half time with Brad Johnson was interesting, he named Cam Bruce as the toughest opponent he has had. Which certainly flies in the face of a few posters here. I think I would like to see the dogs win it ts year.
-
So do I, if we are serious about being a team in contention in 3 years time then we need experienced big guys. We should do all that we reasonably can to keep Jamar around, and if we trade him away he will leave a big hole that I don't think any of PJ, Martin, Meesen or Spencer can fill.

There are some very optimistic trades being thrown up here. I would trade pick 2 for him, drafted at 5 and has performed at the top level. I'd probably want some change, but not much.
-
BP will know who is around for the PSD, he doesn't have to decide now.
-
No wonder we're last!
-
I didn't realise he was that old. Bday: 6/12/1982. So he turns 27 this year. pick 18 would be appropriate.
-
Definately, I imagine the player would have to be pretty decent for them to go for a pick 18 + player deal. Freo would have their eye on our second pick if he was going to be traded, and rightly so. I would give away our pick 2 for their second pick (18) and Sandilands, but then I doubt they would go for that either.

Yeah I tried to find the contract situation of the players but got nowhere, is there a place where this info can be found? If so I will update each player with their status. that was quick.
