I wouldn't surprise me to hear that Bailey had questioned Brent about his commitment with a zero possession half and his response required the substitution.

I don't know what's been said here as I don't have time to read the 45 pages, and hope this is in the right spot. That said, I wanted to reply to Eddies "if Scully gets 2 first round picks, we want 4 for Dale Thomas" comment. Melbourne declined an offer to swap our pick 2 (Trengove) for Port Adelaides picks 8 and 9 just before the 2009 draft. Fact. Furthermore, the 2009 draft had not been pillaged by GWS. With this being the case, why the hell would we now believe that two late round draft picks were worth our number 1 pick (including the 2 years pay we've given him and work we've put in) when our number 1 is just starting to come good? Gary Ablett had contributed to his club something when he left at the age of 25 (brownlow / multiple premierships). 25 is the age that free agency will become relevant to players who want to swap clubs for a reason. This age limit is there to protect the struggling clubs lists. What the hell is the point of the draft if all players go where they want from the outset? Eddie's "Daisy" is very good but not one of the leagues elite as many here, myself included, believe Tom will be. Just to be clear, I wouldn't swap Tom for Daisy. Who the hell asked that know all his opinion anyhow? Eddie, go crawl under a rock.

Agree. And then the thread gets off-track as posters bicker. BTW from what I saw I was neither impressed or disappointed. I would like to see him given an opportunity to start on the ground with and against other fresh players before the outcome has been pretty much determined. Now that his "first game" (if that's what you'd call it) is out of the way, supporters and media should be less scrutinising and as such the pressure less considerable. There's an opportunity for a real run. It's only a shame I have to wait two weeks for it! Get 'em Sambo!

If Cale does roll, does this constitute GWS's one non-contracted player from each club or does TS (hypothetically / if he decides to) then simply not sign, and go into the PSD? If this is the case how is the one player per club rule enforced?

Yep, "Jack Fitzpatrick: Jack only had eight possessions in an OK performance." http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/111991/default.aspx

The List Manager looks at the Melbourne list
Bagdana replied to Harry Manback's topic in Melbourne Demons
Has he ever heard of Jake Spencer? -
Without having read all 7 pages on this topic, can someone tell me what the facts are? Has GWS confirmed their pursuit or it is all hearsay?

He bangs on about how nothing influenced his decision and how he was just doing what was best for both parties. Blah, blah, blah... Have I missed something here? Surely he knew he wanted to leave before trade week was over if "nothing external influenced his decision". Wouldn't it have been better for both parties if he informed the club of this so they could negotiate a trade during trade week? He'd not have had to roll the die in the pre-season draft and we could have received fair compensation for his services (surely we'd get something). He left us and has given us nothing in return for our years of, from what I understand, generous contacts. So glad he was looking out for the MFC. Thanks for nuthin' Bruce. I hope someone mistakes your brown and yellow trackies as a urinal and gives it to you. Moving on...

I know you'll all roll your eyes at seeing this name come up again so I won't harp. Quick question, if Bruce is signed by the Hawks (who have a strict 1 yr policy over 30 e.g. Crawford) what gives? Who bends over? Does Bruce take one year with them or do the Hawks offer two?
-
Yes, I understand that. As I said in the first part of my post, the boy can play footy and I loved to watch it. I'm just saying, in my opinion it wouldn't hurt to neaten the beard up a bit when people have been questioning his commitment (rightly or wrongly). I shower before going out to dinner with friends. It doesn't help my conversation skills but it shows respect. That's all I am getting at.
-
His long, unkept, neolithic beard, I look upon as a negative reflection of his level of commitment. From most reports I've read on the man, and on the two occasions I ran into him in Melbourne (socially excited and immature), he looked anything but committed. I'm just saying, with tags like his, that style of beard is probably one thing he could do without.

I too will never forget watching from just behind him on the members wing, those beautifully weighted bullets stabbed just over the fingertips of opposition, only to drop onto the chest of a teammate inside fifty. Skilled, no question, but FFS, can he at least make an effort to look professional and have a shave? If I was coach, I'd be unimpressed.

Sorry, I missed the other thread. What is wrong with him, and what form of sugury does he require? Many thanks.

Jack (take your pick) could not commit 100% towards helping the team win during his first year at the club because he was asked to get himself set for the future. Hypothetically, if they only had a one year contact, at the end of that year should he have been delisted as he'd done nothing or given another crack? My point is, Dean has done everything he should have to this point and could have taken far easier paths. He was good enough for a three year contract when he started. Now having done the hard yards, and still being the same outstanding bloke, why doens't he deserve a crack at a couple of years behind the wheel of a team which he greatly contributed to building. If another coach walked in and took the spoils of Deans outstanding work I'd "spew up".

"Defence lawyer Rainer Martini said his client had a low IQ, was extremely immature and had a difficult, fractured family background. He said Siegle had consumed alcohol and smoked cannabis and..." what a waste of words. "Defence lawyer Rainer Martini said his client was a collingwood supporter" would have covered it.

How do you know all this gear?

Ha, ha. I'll buy that. It makes sence. I reckon Neita could have qualified the way he walked with the forward and back head movement.

If the AFL didnt change the draft rules
Bagdana replied to Bruce Almighty's topic in Melbourne Demons
But would we have pick 11 if this was a "regular" draft? -
Sorry, I couldn'd cut and paste the article. I didn't relise it required a registration. I don't post a lot but I do brose a lot and as such do sign up to opp forums. When topics interst me (such as this) I like to look on both sides of the fence. Comments like "The club should speak to Trengove and tell him to play average for two years and then tell Melbourne he wants out. Thats if he would like to play for us." & "Worth a shot but I won't lose sleep over Melbourne's stance. Melbourne could have had 5 picks in the top 18. Now they get a player with a "go home factor." do tend to amuse me though. Would you like some salt as you suck on that lemon boys and girls?

A St Kilda supporting mate reckons he's contracted at the moment. But he couldn't be as there is no wayt that we could get him in the PSD if he was. Can anyone confirm. Is he contracted?

You're a champion Enforcer25. The whole thing stinks to me. Leave it for someone else to risk his knees. What they're asking of Hawthorn is ridiculous to say the least. Two first round draft picks. Burgoyne would need to wear a cape and fly to qualify that deal.

Heya guys and gals, I've just awoken from a 2 day flu and have heard on the radio (at some stage) that there is something genuine happening here. 6 pages? Too much. Can someone please surmise for me? What's going on and what is the GENERAL consensus of what's fair if we are the match? Hawks/Ess?

As Grimes only played one, token game last year to give him a feel for the pace let's ignore that and call him a first year player. Grimes is 20yrs and 3 months. Jurrah is 20yrs and 11 months. So in maturity and development levels they are pretty comparitable. My question is, if we only had room for one of these two on our list which one would you keep? 50 /50 I reckon. Probably Jurrah just because of questions over Jack's back.
