  1. Realistically, if you have three ND picks at 36+ and four rookie picks, your chances of success with each one are not that high. If we got one or two average AFL players out of that lot I'd be more than pleased. If we get a Bail, a McDonald and a Mackenzie, it's better than average. People are expecting too much if they think it will be much better than that.
  2. We get a C+ from Knightmare, apparently based on losing an error-prone Warnock (while developing a great lot of younger defenders), the unknown virtues of Taggert taken at pick 36, and his lack of knowledge of Williams as our fourth rookie pick. Ho hum. I can live with that.
  3. I'm in no way supporting cruel 'puppy farms', but do you have evidence that PP does this? Do you know exactly where PP sources their puppies and kittens? I think you need to confirm that before starting a campaign against them (and the MFC). I also don't want to see this site propogating slander.
  4. 1964.
  5. Let's hope he hasn't got fear of flying.
  6. Proven club wrecker for 60K per year ... hard to win.
  7. I thought Kelvin Lawrence had some serious 'homesickness' issues during the year. Is he 'over' them? I note they didn't stop us from giving him a second-year rookie contract, with 'high hopes' for the future.
  8. Garland? You'd have to be joking.
  9. I heard lots say that. That's a kilometre rate of 3:20. Elite for a footballer maybe, but miles off 'elite' running pace. The current world record for 3000 metres is 7:20.67 ... a kilometre rate of 2:26. Craig Mottram has run 5000 metres at a kilometre rate of 2:36. Ron Clarke ran 10,000 metres at a kilometre rate of 2:45 on his way to the world record way back in 1965. World class marathoners run 42,195 metres at kilometre rate of 3:00!
  10. AA is for All-Australian. Jamar and Frawley in 2010, but none this year.
  11. OK. "J" is for Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack, James, James, Jordie, Jordan, Jeremy, Jake, Jared, Joel, Josh, Jamie, Jones, Jamar, Jurrah and Jetta.
  12. Peter Roebuck found dead in his hotel room in South Africa.
  13. Ask yourself how the same 'flavoured' stories appeared in both the Herald-Sun and The Age on the same day. They weren't "scoops".
  14. What makes you think that the content of these articles is some sort of 'player shame and humiliation' media exposé? It's probably the Melbourne Football Club publicity machine at work, and all the information has been fed to the press with the player's knowledge or permission.
  15. It's rather contradictory that in one story (by Glenn McFarlane) in the Herald-Sun this morning, Scully says he enjoys 'being out of the spotlight' (then goes on at some length in that article to openly discuss a lot of issues), then he gives more opinion in another piece by McFarlane revealing the 'behind-the-scenes turmoil' at Melbourne, and he's then even more in the spotlight in an article entitled 'Courage under fire' in the Age.

    Daffy

It is as equally possible that a doctor will take a conservative line concerning potential for injury that therefore limits fitness, as it is the fitness coach will take an adventurous line with fitness that therefore increases the likelihood of injury. I could imagine that would be a point of contention between fitness and medical staff.
  17. Herald-Sun 'best-ever' draft picks: 31-40 Simon Black (31), Michael O'Loughlin (40), Sam Mitchell (36), Cameron Ling (38), Brendan Fevola (38), Paul Chapman (31), Leigh Montagna (37), Shaun Hart (33), Craig Kelly (34), Mark LeCras (37) 41-50 Adam Goodes (43), Brent Harvey (47), Corey Enright (47), Alistair Lynch (50), David King (46). Andrew Swallow (43), Darren Milburn (48), Heath Scotland (44), Dominic Cassisi (50), Chance Bateman (48) 51+ James Hird (79), Dane Swan (58), Daniel Bradshaw (56), Sam Fisher (55), Ryan O'Keefe (56), Cameron Bruce (64), Brian Lake (71), Chris Newman (55), Richie Vandenberg (78), Chris Grant (105) Four Brownlow medallists in that lot.
  18. Totally out of Melbourne's hands now. GWS offered him $6 million, so totally in their hands now. For that money you'd hope they'd have done due diligence.
  19. I've seen more impressive trophy rooms at the local bowls club!
  20. The best shows are all on the ABC: Wide Open Road The Slap No.1 Ladies Detective Agency Crownies
  21. From the Age: However, the Demons made the tough decision to cut the 176cm, 23-year-old speedster after failing to make contact with him in their bid to discuss his future. "Unfortunately, we have been unable to adequately communicate with Aussie to determine his future intentions," Demons general manager of list management Tim Harrington said. Seems like he is still having problems with commitment and homesickness.
  22. List lodgement today has ... Out: Maric, Wonaeamirri, Scully, Warnock (plus rookies Campbell, Johnston, McNamara and Newton) In: Clark That's all we need to do for the draft (3 picks)
  23. It would have played out a lot differenty if we'd signed Trengove #1 and Martin #2.
  24. Better than we thought? Hmmm.
  25. If you don't want the risk of injury, then build a residential compound at AAMI Park and transport your players around it in a cart enclosed in bubble wrap. Don't let them drive, go to pubs, go surfing, go on holiday or allow them to play with their kids. Why do Melbourne supporters want to put Green down so much? MFCSS? He's played IR before twice (2004 and 2010), and is the only club captain in the team. That's why he's been given the job.
