Nope. I'm trying to work out how we got Clark for 12, but need to pay more than that for Boak.
-
What do you suggest ... spitting or the load of chicken manure?
-
No way would I want to use 4 and 12 on Boak. Total over-payment.

Trading is not some sort of card game. You only trade 'excess' footballers of value for others of better value or greater importance to you. I don't see an excess of fit ruckmen at the club. All I see is unmeasured potential (Martin, Gawn, Spencer, Fitzpatrick) who in fact don't get on the park very often. Trading away Jamar now would be folly.
-
Apart from the problems with lack of rotations later in the game, we were a far worse side with Jamar out of the ruck. Martin did well in the ruck, but we lost our forward structure as a consequence by not having Martin or Jamar as a tall down there.

I don't want any "fringe" players. We've got enough already.

The one thing I've discovered as I go through life is that very little shocks me any more. There are plenty of cases of fallen idols and discredited angels, and people who I once thought were heroes being shown to be anything but. It's very hard to accept the revelation of transgressions from people who I once considered were infallible. In Lance's case I'm prepared for anything.

I think you're imagining far too much with Gysberts. He's been back two weeks after a broken jaw, after being injured last year, and is a first-round draft pick who's played 18 games.
-
It's a bit of fluff for the kids. Lighten up.

I'm waiting for the first thread suggesting we could look at Connors.

I have this aversion to spending #4 on a ruckman when we are crying out for midfield strength and speed.
-
Ummm ... on lack of evidence?
-
I want Mitch Clark to get back to playing and leading the forward line. I want the beginning of a core of 8-10 "A" and "B" Grade midfielders who can take it up to the juggernauts of the AFL. That would mean: Jones keeping on keeping on Trengove getting better Grimes building his midfield role Gysberts playing AFL consistently Howe working as a midfielder Midfielder X (the one we trade for, like Boak or Beams or whoever) Viney as a recruit Draft pick #4 (as good as Viney) Maybe any others in the mix: Blease, Nicholson, Magner, Sylvia, Tynan, Taggert, Couch etc. That is all.

Who do you want to see blooded or in the side by seasons end?
mauriesy replied to Hells Gates's topic in Melbourne Demons
Another rest? He hasn't had one yet ... played all 12 games. He's a fit, hard body. I don't think he's in the same category as a normal first-year player. Some of this 'rest' stuff is piffle. You might need a 'rest' if your body is getting sore, or knocked up and bruised. But you don't necessarily need a rest just from the physical workload ... the effects of training and play are cumulative and you just keep getting fitter and better. A 'rest' can be negative. -
Agreed. All you other people are obviously mssing the play on the colour orange.

Thanks Ben. Glad you see it. Gysberts is the same height as Jeremy Howe (190) but a kilo heavier!

The interview was exclusive because it "exclusively" featured Robinson questioning Neeld with his own "exclusive" questions and Neeld's own "exclusive" responses. I've seen media channels claim "exclusives" when at the same time all their rivals are covering exactly the same story.

Huh? If you are a selfish footballer, then you are not playing for your personal future. It's the quickest way out the door. Your personal future can still involve team things, in fact it must.

Our midfield's been terrible for years.

So if that's the general feeling, why the need to boo him for leaving? -
He's the same height and only 1kg less than Nathan Jones.

"Don't go to the snow, come see Scully" - Sheedy
mauriesy replied to H_T's topic in Melbourne Demons
As soon as you lose sight of the primary intent, which is winning the ball, you lose the game. One minor overstepping of the mark and someone will end up being reported. Scully's not worth it. -

Green's out for two weeks. Any other 'stalwart' you'd recommend? This talk of revenge and physical harm might feel good but it's sheer stupidity. Don't get mad, get even. Just win the game by as much as possible, and restrict Scully's influence to about what it was last year when he played for us... very little.
